  1. He actually retired before last season. The OP is from February 2011.
  2. Randy Wolf has had a pretty nice career, but he's already 36. Have to think this will probably end his career.
  3. Yep, glad to see the Cardinals and their fans on the end of disappointment for a change.
  4. Yeah, I don't really see the Brewers realistically being in on him, just from a market standpoint. I think a team like the Astros could be a good guess, depending on how aggressive they decide to get right now.
  5. It's so stupid. He's going to be 32 next year. There's no way the Brewers should be looking at him.
  6. Is Austin able to actually wrestle at all anymore though? I would definitely pay to see him wrestle one more time, but I'd hate to see him do some really weak match if he can't really go.
  7. I think Rolen doesn't have the counting stats to get in. 3B isn't a position you can get in just on defense, unlike shortstop for example.
  8. Too bad the A's season had to end. What a great run this year for them. They have a lot to be proud of. The future of that franchise is suddenly looking a lot brighter than it did a year agol.
  9. I wonder if Hamilton was just putting too much pressure on himself with it being a contract year and all.
  10. I believe Bob Nightengale was the first to report this today, after the Reds were eliminated by the Giants. He's had a tremendous career if this is indeed it for him.
  11. Well, I have no problem "going for it" again next season given how close this team got this year, even with all the injuries and the horrific bullpen. I just don't ever want to see Braun get traded. He should be a Brewers player for life.
  12. I really enjoy the "one game shootout" thing. Both games were exciting yesterday. For all the criticism Selig received for expanding the playoffs, I would say it worked out pretty well this year.
  13. You can say it's an outdated stat, but as the first winner in 45 years, I think it's worth discussing. Will it make him the AL MVP? I have no idea. A .330 season with 44 homers and 139 RBIs is quite impressive.
  14. I don't know...Logan Schaefer looked pretty solid this season (granted it was a small sample at the MLB level).
  15. Yeah, I'll definitely be taking up my carpet cleaning bill with the water softener company after I finally get it. It's a local company with a decent reputation, so hopefully they will give me some satisfaction. We are fortunate that the money isn't a big deal for us, since the carpeting cleaning bill shouldn't be too crazy...it's more just the principle of the whole thing. We spent a lot of money to buy and have the water softener installed. In retrospect, we might have been better off just renting it. The appliances we noticed looked fairly "beat up" when we moved into this place. I just didn't figure on replacing them more than one at a time. Oh well.
  16. This is turning into an expensive repair week in our household. Our water softener we just had installed about six months ago leaked water all over our basement on Sunday night. Have to pay for our carpeting to get pulled up and dried out. Now today we figure out the heating element in our dishwasher is busted. Also our clothes washer is on its last legs and has been leaking fluid. I realize appliance replacement is inevitable with home ownership, but this is like a triple whammy all in a three day span.
  17. The A's have clinched a wild card and could still possibly win their division. Pretty nice season for them. Maybe the fans will actually fill that stadium for the playoffs.
  18. I agree that they should change the criteria to make guys like that ineligible...but the precedent has already been set with Ichiro.
  19. Even if your current car isn't running, do you think it's worth anything in trade? I'd try to get the cheapest used car possible to get by with for now. You definitely don't need to be making car payments given the situation you've described in other posts.
  20. Wooing only belongs at wrestling events.
  21. I don't know if it was mentioned already, but the Pirates secured another losing season the other night. I don't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for Pittsburgh's fans.
  22. I had one of the early Hyundais (a 2000 Tiburon). That thing was constant issues, even when I had it at relatively low mileage. I'm sure Hyundai is a bit more reliable now.
  23. Gagne is currently the pitching coach for Team France in the World Baseball Classic, fwiw.
  24. The Crew hits well behind Estrada and I like the lineup today. Let's get secure a series win and head back home.
