  1. I don't know about the rest of you, but I very much enjoyed the Cubs celebrating 100 years at Wrigley Field by giving up 5 runs in the 9th to lose 7-5.
  2. They highlighted on Sportcenter Cargo admiring a sac fly on the last homestand. So he seems to have some history of to use the young kids lingo, pimping it, at home plate. That said, his not running hard out of the box could have cost us the game. He could have had an inside the parker.
  3. If you ever going to be correct I hope it's now. 1) It's silly to give up on a guy after 23 ABs. b) Doug Melvin is still our GM, last time I checked, therefore Rickie isn't going anywhere before July I would guess at the earliest.
  4. And some of Rickie's OBP was due to high HBP.
  5. Wisconsin has that pointless "Miller law" which has squashed microbreweries. As a result, Wisconsin has a terrible selection of local brews compared with many other states. So really there aren't really that many beers to choose from in Wisconsin. Just curious what is the Miller law. Never heard of it and can't find it on google.
  6. Well he finally took a walk. Now he has a 16 to 1 K to BB ratio and a .283 OBP to go along with a .660 OPS. If you squint at him while he's batting he looks like Yuni B up there. He has to get it squared away or it's going to be a long year.
  7. Did you see him run in from the bullpen? He has a very odd running motion. His fastball looked like it had zero movement on it, but he seemed to be able to spot it pretty well. I think he got squeezed on a couple calls. I like his motion. Seems kind of old school, except for the extended pause.
  8. Of course the only problem with that is that Overbay was just as bad or worse than Francisco last year. Is this a RRR decision or a DM decision? I don't think it speaks to valuing last year's stats, it speaks more to valuing gritty veterans over unproven young players. I did not want Juan back on the team this year, but I too think I would rather have him than Overbay. You can maybe hope to catch a hot streak of lightning in a bottle with JF for a month or two, like we got with Yuni B last year and then hope to get an upgrade after than via trade. Overbay has a giant fork sticking out of him.
  9. When was the last time we took a cast off and turned him into a productive major league pitcher? Axford doesn't count, since he fixed himself, we only get credit for scouting him. Would Chris Naverson be the answer? Or Marco Estrada? Surprised we gave up on this guy after only one year. I know he was horrible last year, but arms like that don't grow on trees, and we don't exactly have a full boat of blue chippers down on the farm.
  10. Its about the time value of money. Mark A is a finance guy so he gets it. When you get into big money it really makes a difference paying a 3 million differential in 2016 rather than 2014.
  11. Only partly if its a typical arbitration type contract. If he's cut before the season he only gets a prorated amount. How much would it be to cut him and where can I donate to make it happen? I'm not a fan of JF.
  12. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/axfords-generous-tipping/ Fangraphs did a very nice write up on this. It makes me extremely depressed that the Brewers organization could not spot this and fix it. It doesn't seem like it's that hard to spot or fix. "Hey Ax, when you are in the set position, just hold the ball a little but behind your back." That's about all they had to say and we still would have had a productive relief pitcher in our pen. It really makes me wonder if this is just part of a larger trend with the Brewers unable to develop pitching.
  13. I think he'll be fine as long as he gets consistent PT and is given at least 300 regular AB to show what he's got. I doubt RR will give that to him.
  14. Do all appeals take this long or does it only take this long because we're in the off season? Would a player get a positive test in May and not get a resolution until September? Seems like that would be a problem.
  15. Pena went to the Rays. One year 7.25M. Tigers said they are not interested in Prince. Pretty much just leaves the Nationals doesn't it?
  16. I'm not so sure. According to this the Mariners are not in on signing Prince. http://hardballtalk.nbcsp...-is-extremely-overblown/ Two agents say the Mariners are claiming they only have $3-4 million left to spend on the roster this winter … According to one of those agents, Prince Fielder-to-Seattle speculation is “extremely overblown.” What does that leave him with? Lukewarm interest from the Nationals and Texas? I agree that when I first heard Prince signed with Boras our chances of signing him were 0.0%, but now just by process of elimination don't we have to be at 5%?
  17. Does anyone know if the brewer's offer to Prince still stands? He's running out of options.
  18. So how much of a spike in attendance and revenue will we see if we sign this guy? http://www.physorg.com/news184955531.html
  19. I'm assuming it's just the NYCE club is going to be renamed something else again. Nothing that earth shattering.
  20. I meditated for awhile and channeled Howard Cosell and asked him this question and he replied "in the estimation of this esteemed prognosticator and pontificater, I would have to reply in the negative to that, however it remains to be seen just how far that thread could go, and my opinions could be somewhat distorted by my long departure from that earthly plane. I will say this, that Ryan Braun is a helluva ballplayer, he reminds one of a certain Joe DiMaggio of years gone by, with perhaps less glove and less appeal to the women of the species but that same sweet stroke that captures the imagination of baseball lovers young & old." Less appeal to the women of the species? That does not appear to be true.
  21. Funny but I seem to remember Doug talking about some other Japaneses player and how tough it was to scout a Japaneses player and that it didn't pay to try and bring them in since they didn't know them that well. Apparently the Brewers have intensified their Japanese scouting in the last 4-6 weeks. Hope he works out.
  22. Wow, the bucs must really be down on Pedro Alvarez. Best of luck to Casey against all the other NL central teams but us. He seems like a good guy, and he gave us some solid years when we didn't any other options at 3rd and now it seems he also got us a decent reliever too.
  23. I was pretty down when Ulice Payne was let go/left the Brewers. I think those of us who were around BF then felt the same way. There were some discouraging posts (all lost to ezboard). Not to say this isn't also a letdown. Not to get side tracked, but Payne leaving was one of the best things that ever happened to the Brewers. He had no clue what he was doing.
  24. So how fast do levels of testosterone decrease? Can you go from being 4 times over the limit to being normal in 4 weeks? In 6 weeks? If Braun is found not guilty the players association should file a lawsuit that makes the collusion lawsuit look like small claims court. There is a reason these tests are supposed to be confidential until a suspension is handed out.
