  1. Bill asks why would you drill someone with a 2-0 lead. Well Bill, why would you drill someone when the game is tied? It happened what one week ago?
  2. The Brewers are 20-7 on the road after a 16-31 start. They are 14-3 in their last 17 road games. Saw this on the AP recap. Good reminder of how far we've come. It is a long season.
  3. Did I hear the video correct, this was Ron's (as in the manager RR) idea?
  4. A kid with a new toy pushing all the buttons to see what it does = RR.
  5. That was a called steal right. CC is smarter than to do that on his own. Is there a way a runner can call off a steal attempt?
  6. Am I the only one who's not buying the working on the glove thing? I think it went down something like Naverson was trying to improve his street cred and this happened.
  7. I think you are being a little over dramatic here. The bullpen has been in great shape for a long time now. Both Ax and Krod can go 3 days in a row and 70% effort bullpen tosses don't affect Axford's availability at all I don't know. There have been quite a few games this season where RR gets the entire BP up. Is throwing a few pitches in the BP tonight going to impact Ax tomorrow. Probably not. But I gotta think having our BP warm up too much is going to cost us at some point. If it didn't why wouldn't every team have a pitcher warming up from the 6th inning on just in case.
  8. K-rod can't close out games we need to get axford up just b/c a couple of runs get on with two outs? BP is gonna run out of gas mid-september. Remember this game and others. Well at least we won.
  9. I don't care at all about the CG. Get the win. Get the extra runs. Only nit to pick would be why even begin to warm up axford if you aren't going to use him. If K-rod was warm and ready to go, just use him. He knows how to close out games too. Keep axford fresh as can be for tomorrow.
  10. Who's the average pitcher we should have gone out and got instead of trading for Marcum.
  11. I'm not sure RR knows how to handle a BP. The BP last night only had to cover 2 innings with a 4-5 run lead and yet RR had every pitcher in the BP warm up or pitch except for Saito. That's the kind of thing that's going to come back and bite us I think. We don't have a deep BP since we apparently have to have 4 second basemen on the roster/ If they entire BP has to warm up every game, their going to be shot come september.
  12. Do we need a poll on whether that was a called steal or did Yuni take off on his own?
  13. I don't get this, you don't like the trade because there is another position that's equally/more pressing? How does this trade preclude the addition of a SS? Because it likely eats up all the salary room the Brewers have to work with. And potentially any remaining minor league trading chips we have too. And the replacment of Yuni B is far and away more pressing than adding another BP arm.
  14. Why trade for a BP arm when SS is a much more pressing need? We can get by with the BP. We cannot get by with a replacement level player at SS. Don't like it unless Doug M has something up his sleeve to replace Yuni B. Also, I guess the new Mets owner really is a Brewers fan.
  15. And the idea that the offense is the problem is just idiotic. Excuse me but didn't the offense get us the only win in the last 7 games by scoring 7 runs in the 8th and 9th innings against the twins? Didn't they get separate 6-1 leads that the pitching staff couldn't hold? The offense wasn't great against the yankees, but the pitching was even worse. I understand if RRR wants to be diplomatic and try not to throw anyone under the bus, but I'm not a big fan of guys who can't call it like it is.
  16. Do you think that perhaps they don't want to upset a veteran like Kotsay by dumping him or burying him on the bench because they hope that they will be able to bring in "quality" veterans in the future. 10 years ago guys like Edmonds never would have ended up in Milwaukee, but now we've got a bit of a rep of being a good team and a good clubhouse so guys like that might come here. But if we dump Kotsay or never play him we risk him slamming the organization and then losing a chance at some of those guys in future years? Whereas if we sit boggs or cut him, nobody cares. Not saying that's a good reason, but I wonder if that plays into there thinking at all.
  17. I don't know about all the rest of that, but the Cards are not the vikings. Cards could be the bears, but they are not the vikings, that gives the vikings way too much credit. Cubs will always be #1 for me. Only hate the cardinals b/c of TL, their fans are nice and knowledgeable. I don't like Dusty Baker, but other than that don't really have any other reason to hate the reds. I would say the reds are the most like the brewers. They do some things that probably tick other people off, but so do the brewers.
  18. He's not going back to St. Louis. He left there on very bad terms didn't he?
  19. Yo was cruising tonight until the 6th. And then the brewer's defense let him down. He walked the first batter in the 6th and then he got Uggla to pop out. Unfortunately Prince couldn't make the catch and Corey was too scared of running into to Prince to make the catch. Then Yo gets Uggla to hit a 32 hopper to SS and Bentacourt showing his range of a barstool let it go into left field. Then Yo got squeezed on a 3-1 pitch. The next one got ripped for a double. After than he gave up a texas leaguer. One ball hit hard all inning 4 runs scored. I don't think there's anything wrong with Yo that wouldn't be fixed with a new defense. That said, I don't think I'm going to be trading for him this year in my fantasy league, becuase we're not geting a new defense. Now next year I'll try and get him cheap when we have a new SS and new 1B that hopefully can field. I also wonder if given the state of our defense you need control guys, because if you walk anyone the potential for a big inning is magnified because we also give extra outs in the field. I will say that it seemed like Yo's breaking stuff was a lot less sharp in the 6th than earlier in the game, so maybe he is tired, hasn't recovered from that complete game earlier in the season, so maybe a trip to the DL to regain some strength and stamina would help. Also a mental break might help too. I said it and my buddy agreed, it looked like Yo was going to cry in the dugout after he got taken out, mainly because our defense would make any pitcher cry.
  20. You might not like the deferred money part, but Mark A I'm sure loves it and that is probably one of the main reasons this deal got done. Mark A is a finance guy and he knows all about the present value of money, ie a dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow. Not only because of inflation but because of interest. So that is a huge factor in this calc. I am reading a lot of people discussing that it's a good deal from an inflation stand point, but I would assume the deferred money is even a bigger impact. No one knows for sure what the inflation rate is going to be, especially from a MLB contract stand point, but you can probably nail down an effective interest rate over a 10 year period or do variable analysis to let you know what the present value of the contract is. I think they even mentioned the guy in the PC who looked at the deferred money for the brewers. So this could be an even more team friendly deal than it is being presented as. But aside from all that, I think this is a good deal. Yeah, Braun could slip in the shower tomorrow, hurt his back and never play another game for the brewers and we'd be screwed. But on the other hand he is a superstar and superstars generally aren't knocking down the door to come play in Milwaukee. Heck we had to way overpay for Jeff Suppan to come pitch here. Would you rather give a long term deal to a Superstar or get stuck overpaying for mediocrity. I'd rather give the long term deal to the superstar and take my chances.
  21. Maybe I missed it, but is anyone going to find out who broke his rib, or does ZG not know exactly when it happened while playing basketball?
  22. Prince was gone the moment he signed with Boras and I'm surprised anybody thinks otherwise.
  23. Yes it does matter to some extent. If you have a highly ranked farm system you can trade prospects for better players than you can if you have a perceived bad farm system. I thought we had the #30 ranked minor leagues before the ZG trade and we were still able to trade for ZG.
