  1. This has gone from one of my favorite awards to being perhaps my least favorite. It's beyond arbitrary. "Fielding Bible" has some interesting numbers for the Brewers: JJ, Braun, and Cameron all near the top at their respective positions; Fielder and Durham near the bottom of theirs.
  2. I am not hell-bent on unloading him, but I wouldn't consider him untouchable, either.
  3. I understand that you would want to take Kendall's comments into consideration, but I'm not sure you can have 25 players individually exercising veto power over managerial candidates.
  4. I have been pro-Johnson for several years, but my gut says it will be Macha.
  5. A little too much capitalizing in that first paragraph -- "Managers," etc.
  6. Did I hear this correctly? "Everything seems to be going between their legs...."
  7. I'd call Suppan semi-mediocre rather than plain "terrible." (Hardly a ringing endorsement, either way.) His adjusted ERA's for two years in Milw. have been 97 and 87 -- below average, but not pathetic. I guess the problem here is partly the size of the contract in relation to that middling performance, and the expectations. I agree with the basic premise here. (If I never hear about the 2005 Cardinals again, it will be too soon.) It makes me think about Schilling and his chances of getting into the HOF. I've heard several Buster Olney types say that they think he'll make it because of his "big game" performances.
  8. I don't know which is worse: thinking CC was a viable PH option, or yielding to sentiment and trying to give him a nice send-off. It was an elimination game, for crying out loud.
  9. Isn't this pretty much what happened in 2006? Inexcusable, if true.
  10. This is disappointing on several fronts. There were similar problems in 2006, and I think Leckrone got off easy because of his status as a legend -- and his promise to clean things up. Apparently, that did not happen, and now the university is going to have to endure a prolonged embarrassment.
  11. I think McClung and Kapler were the two unsung heroes.
  12. Not going, but I have a bet set up with my brother, who lives in Philly and is a die-hard fan. We are debating the stakes: brats if he wins, cheesesteaks if I do. (There are shipping issues to deal with, obviously.)
  13. It has to be weird for him, certainly. I'm sure he still thinks of it as "his" team. And to watch that celebration yesterday . . .I imagine that he has all kinds of conflicting emotions. I'm sure he's proud of everyone, but at the same time he probably thinks that he should have been there.
  14. Seriously, where are all the people folks complaining about how fat and useless he supposedly is?
  15. Yeah, if you were willing to look at CC, you'd have to consider Manny and his impact, too. But with Manny, I just didn't get the sense that he was totally carrying the entire team.
  16. I didn't believe this until today, but I really think that, logically, he should be the MVP. No one player in the NL was more solely responsible for his team making it into the post-season. (And, for the record, I am not a total homer about this kind of thing.)
  17. One hit just isn't going to get it done. (Unless it was like a HR following three walks.)

  19. I'm getting "Channel not purchased" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gifDitto. Of course it happens TODAY, and not for some game against the Nats in April.

  21. Yeah, what is the deal with FSN right now?
  22. Yeah, what is the deal with FSN right now?
  23. Forgive me for being blunt, but how can you possibly say this?
  24. CC has to go 7-8 strong and give up 2 runs or less. That's really the only way I can this team pulling it out tomorrow. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to watch a close game turned over to the bullpen....
