  1. That's a really inexcusable baserunning mistake by Turang.
  2. So annoyed by that second inning still. All Willy has to do is make a routine throw. Spotting this team two runs is asking for an L.
  3. One minute he's calling out their approaches at the plate, and saying they're overwhelmed by the moment. The next is this. Pat's a great vibes guy but I don't know if he's built for the big chair long term. The in-game management kinda stinks, and he spends a lot of time calling the guys out while taking little accountability himself. In basketball, I've heard coaches say there's no such thing as a half-shot. It's either going in or it's not, so eff it, let it fly. I'd like to see this group take that approach more, especially against LA. They're way too tight.
  4. I'm tired of watching Mitchell take hittable pitches, and make defensive swings when he actually decides to take the bat off his shoulder
  5. I saw that Dunn had the fastest bat speed and I thought it made sense, since the ball sure wasn't getting in the way.
  6. Earned every penny of it last year.
  7. I'm almost exclusively a shuttle user now, unless I take one of my kids to a game and need that flexibility of being able to bounce early. I'd rather spend $20 on a couple beers and an app than a place to put my car.
  8. I've been kicked in the balls so many times by this team that I'm pretty much numb to it. Although they did manage to find a small part of a testicle that hadn't been kicked and took care of that with the way they lost on Tuesday. Like a blow to the groin, it hurts like a MFer for a bit but subsides. I woke up this morning with my normal octave range and no pain.
  9. Hope another organization thinks they can fix him? I don't know if there will be room for him when Mitchell is healthy and Chourio comes up. He's so broken at the plate, It's tough to watch... he has no chance with that pre-swing drop of the hands.
  10. The point is to stand up for your guys. They're hanging on by a thread right now. Division lead will probably be down to a game by tomorrow night. Anything that could galvanize them is worth a shot.
  11. Yup. And if Hoby was available, I have no idea why he wasn't used in the sixth.
  12. Just can't help themselves against bad teams. Since the Cubs are apparently never gonna lose again let's get this over with so they can't celebrate the division on our field.
  13. This move is fine. So was Santana. Frankly, it's the type of move they should be making now. The lineup needs an offseason to fix. Going all in with this group makes no sense. Make some improvements on the margins and see what happens. I'm far more interested to see what direction they go this offseason.
  14. This is it right here. And they're so scared now by the backlash to the Hader deal, they won't dare do it again. It's really frustrating... they pissed away the end of this window by being cheap now they won't deal their most valuable assets to soften the rebuild. All to chase 85 wins and a first round exit.
  15. I've gotten the vibe all year from him that he's not happy. I don't know if that's with the gig, the roster, whatever. But his managing this year has been lazy and at times completely illogical.
  16. Which speaks to the original post, does it not? Everything is political these days, so why not just let a baseball site be about baseball? It's not even this issue in particular. Everyone gets their social media feeds completely overrun with political takes these days. People come here to discuss baseball. Let us have a damn break.
  17. Whoever said this team isn't enjoyable to watch had it dead on. Just so discouraging to see the same crap hitting every night, and based on Stearns' comments, nothing is gonna change.
  18. Suter's absence was a bigger loss in this series than Williams, IMO.
  19. Two 100+ win teams will fail to reach the LCS. And if it's LA, it'll be one with a $267 million dollar payroll. As frustrating as the Brewers cold snap has been, it could always be worse.
  20. This is gonna be fascinating to see play out, especially with one eye towards a possible Game 5. Who has to dip into the pen first, and who that's gonna be. I can't say I would have started Morton on short rest. Especially not with the Brewers funk at the plate.
  21. How can you discuss this game/series without talking about the offense? It's really the main story.
  22. It was a desperation move that was premature, IMO. And a little out of character for Counsell.
