Question for you: would it be logical to assume that his success with the 4 seamer vs righties was in some part due to the surprise element of the pitch, and a heavier usage might degrade its effeciveness? Not to say it isn't still a good idea - any time you can get hitters thinking about 3 pitches instead of two you have most likely increased your ability to get outs, but the pitch might not generate a direct correlation to better results...at least not at the rate of success as ly.
