  1. The stuff is there, but the command is a work in progress. Someday...but not quite yet. I'm on the committee bandwagon.
  2. Yikes. I wonder if he shared the back soreness thing last season, and if anything was done/checked on in the off season. I don't want to be too chicken littleish, but this could be really, really bad. I hope not...he deserves some good luck.
  3. It feels like they're using the power of positive thinking approach with Brice. If we tell him he's a good hitter often enough then, by gum, it'll happen. Be the basehit...
  4. If improving the offense comes with hurting the defense, the net result could very well be more losses...mainly because the starting pitching looks to be considerably weaker this year. There'll be fewer k's, so more balls in play, and likely more walks.
  5. Trade Simulator rates the proposed trade as a small over-pay by the Dodgers, fwiw
  6. It will probably take $5mm to sign Davis. That doesn't bother me, but it might bother somebody that matters.
  7. That Davis thing is some bullticky. I think the Giants are gonna end up owing him that full salary. I wonder how that will work if someone else signs him. Should be he gets the full amount from the Giants and whatever he signs for.
  8. I've heard there might still be some 6 innings starters available. (not my money)
  9. There would seem to be better options available in the system. If Ross's results are as predicted here, I hope the Brewers aren't stuck on running him out there anyways.
  10. And they probably should have gone to the surgery right away...he'd be ready by midseason (if he was ever going to be ready). I'm assuming his second injury was just a worsening of the first, which I don't know for sure.
  11. Looking at Sanchez' projections, I wonder if the Brewers gave any serious thought to keeping Hiura.
  12. I dunno...you might need a bigger ledge.
  13. I think we'll see several starters going the 3-4 inning path this season.
  14. I don't think he starts with the team unless the Dodgers go insane and give up a good starting pitcher along with something else (not Lux) for Willy. He'll be up, though.
  15. I could see them going with this to start, given health: Contreras, Sanchez, Haase Hoskins, Bauers, Adames, Monosterio, Turang Yelich, Courio, Wiemer, Mitchell, Frelick If Sanchez isn't ready (and it seems he's starting today, so maybe he will be), then there's lots of options to replace him. Frelick gives another infield option. Six lefthanded batters to start, and yeah...lots of moveable parts. But I dunno...for all the talk about how improved Turang is at the plate, it doesn't seem all that evident. Maybe he needs to start at AAA to get regular at bats. But he's the best defensive replacement. Tis a puzzle.
  16. I'm pulling for $20-$25mm to get another good starter for a year. There's two out there!
  17. Yeah, well...I'll probably get bored and do that. Maybe I'll do alternate game threads for fun.
  18. I have this strange affinity for lefthanded hitting third basemen. Tyler Black for the win.
  19. The Brewers will play the Royals on March 17th (the last day) of this new spring enticement, and the roster could have 20 players on it that we'll see on the field for the big club in 3-5 years. C - Quero IF - Black, Wilkin, Pratt, EBJ, Bitonti, Boeve, Adams, Guilarte, Baez, Clarke (who I guess is the backup catcher) OF - Chourio, Lara, Rodriguez, O'Rae P - Misiorowski, Gasser, Rodriguez, Knoth, Henderson, Blalock, Letson, Aquino, Smith, Yeager
  20. vs a righty, I agree. Vs a lefty Joey will be in right. With Peralta on the mound they could go with Dunn at second and Sal at third as there are fewer groundballs, removing cinnamon. Or vs a lefty have Mono at third (if he makes the OD roster) and Ortiz at second.
  21. We expect more from the outfield bats. They have my permission to show improvement.
  22. Still figure Sanchez on the IL to open the season...probably for the first month.
