  1. Well, Parra would be scheduled to start for Nashville again tomorrow, so I guess we'll find out what they're thinking then. Obviously if he starts tomorrow, he's not starting Saturday.
  2. I assume they'd have to give up next to nothing, but that contract is a bear. However, we could probably get them to take Bill Hall as well, and we would know who is playing CF for the next few years. I'm sure the Blue Jays would be thrilled to do the deal. I think it would be a mistake for the Brewers though. Just look at how hamstrung they ware with the Bill Hall contract which is about half as much as Wells will be due for the next 5 years. Wells is already 30 years old too. He would be our very own Alfonso Soriano. Seems liek a deal someone like the Yankess could make though. Obviously being in the same division complicates things.
  3. Would anyone be willing to take on a large portion of Vernon Wells' ridiculous contract in exchange for Hallady? Maybe Hall and Cameron (and perhaps a decent prospect) for Wells and Halladay? I'm guessing Toronto would jump at that deal. Hopefully the Brewers would not.
  4. That's pretty silly. Why? To say that assumes that DM thought his comments were what, off the record? Is that what you are implying? There is no way DM didn't know his commenst were going to end up in the paper. If he didn't want them printed, he shouldn't have said anything. He did want them printed and that's why he said what he said. Tom Hardiricourt didn't do anything but his job.
  5. I do find it rather interesting and ironic that DM is doing the very same thing for which he is criticizing Braun. A simple 10 minute meeting with Braun and Macha (who may well find himself stuck in the middle of this thing. Of course I belive he and Melvin are not signing from the same sheet of music as it is anyway) before the game tomorrow would seem to make more sense. Braun makes a few apologetic comments to the press and his teammates and we move along.
  6. Doug better be careful though. Braun is clearly Attanasio's very favorite toy, and if this escalates any further (I don't believe it will. Braun apologizes and it goes away tomorrow...could actually turn into a positive), Doug is likely to find himself on the short end at some point, fair or not.
  7. Key word...available. As in, are those two guys actually available?
  8. Let's see...A losing record, a ticked off fan base, no more hometown discounts, mistrusting free agents, a wasted signing bonus...what a bad idea. http://www.kevinfamous.com/Videos/billy%20madison.jpg
  9. Acquiring just a SP or just a hitter would be folly, as they clearly need both. If they don't do both, whatever they spend on one or the other would be wasted as far as this year is concerned (unless of course they get someone with multiple years left on a contract).
  10. With Corey Hart continuing to stink on ice half way through the season, any theories as to why Gerut has not been given any real opportunity? I believe the guy has a grand total of 35 AB's since he has been here, even though he has demonstrated an ability to hut as recently as last season (even this season w/SD away from petco). With 4 or 5 straight RHPs coming up, is there any reason not to throw him in the lead off spot this week try to see what we have in him if anything, or is giving up Hart's .300 OBP and 68 Ks too risky?
  11. Huh? If you believe the Brewers are not capable of going to the playoffs, why would you not sell? Cameron, Hoffman, Hardy, Suppan, Kendall, Hall, Counsell are all guys that would seem to have no place in the Brewers future. Not saying all of those guys have value (some have negative value), but some most certainly do and to not try to use that to fortify the future would be kinda silly.
  12. Anyone think the Yankees would consider something along the lines of Cameron and Hall for Cabrera? Brewers might have to sweeten the deal somewhat in order to get them to take Hall off our hands, but I think Cameron would be a great acquistion for them. Obviously a downgrade for the Brewers, but saying goodbye to Hall makes a net gain. probably just wishful thinking on my part, but...
  13. They needed a representative from the Cubs and he was the only player on the team even close to deserving.
  14. Well TheCrew07, then its very simple...its time to sell and get ready for next year, because if they don't do something they will be about a .500 team. I'd call Kenny Williams because with Podsednik in LF and Dye in RF, I am sure he'd have an interest in Cameron...he can have him for nothing if they will take Bill Hall off our hands as well. See if you can get anyone to take a look at Suppan to eat some innings...again very little required in return, just get the contract off the books. Get Parra back up here immediately to try to figure it our against MLB hitters in a low pressure environment and be ready to contribute next year. Trevor Hoffman has value. So does JJ Hardy who is probably not part of the Brewers future.
  15. No, I don't think that at all, but now Braun has talked about it in the press, and take a look at the reaction it has gotten. The focus from the outside is now squarely on those two guys. Not sure that was really the case 24 hours ago.
  16. I like the comments for the simple fact they do put the attention exactly where it should be at this point in the season...the General Manager. Given the direct line Braun seems to have to Attanasio as well, I suspect this will get his attention, and DM will probably be getting it from both directions (if he isn't already), as well as motivate Attanasio to deal with the financial aspects needed to get a deal done.
  17. If anyone is going to take offense at those comments, they can start by pointing out any innaciracy or any comment that somehow doesn't make sense.
  18. ? This is not a knock on Hardy because I get and agree with exactly what you're saying, but let's not get carried away. Braun, Fielder, Sabathia were all far less replaceable than Hardy last year.
