I think I had the biggest swing in emotions of any Brewer game. I was disappointed in their poor fielding and at bats, that is usually their strength. I thought what a disappointment losing the NLDS will be after a great regular season, with the supposedly un-hittable Mason Miller coming in. Then an unbelievable story book ending. From disappointment to elation. I hope we win tomorrow. I don’t know how much more my heart can stand.

Brewers Option Colton Gordon, Call Up Lyon Richardson
Ron750 replied to Steve Drumwright's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
It gets tiring keeping track of all these AAAA players. I feel bad for these guys who come up, outperform the big leaguers and then are back on a bus the next day. -
Moving to the Bullpen Won't Fix Brandon Sproat
Ron750 replied to Jack Stern's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I am not that concerned about Sproat. I’m more disappointed about Williams. Nobody is discussing the fact that his wrist soreness isn’t a new injury. He had surgery for it 2 years ago. He may never be able to play consistently without aggravating his injury. I think one problem with small players is they have to stress their bodies more to hit HRs. He should stick to being a contact hitter, his body won’t stand up to swinging for the fences. -
Moving to the Bullpen Won't Fix Brandon Sproat
Ron750 replied to Jack Stern's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Sproat is a bust so far. It looks like Jett Williams has a chronic wrist problem and may be damaged goods. So all the applause for what a genius Matt Arnold was for this deal may have been premature. Peralta didn’t have a great year, but maybe he would have been better if he had stayed in Milwaukee. I think Sproat needs a sport psychologist. Murphy’s tough love might have broke him, unlike Gasser who responded. -
Is Jett Williams really in the future? Is his wrist strain minor or an aggravation of his 2024 surgery? Trying to hit HRs with a small frame is tough on your wrists.

Staying Alive, and Living Well
Ron750 replied to Matthew Trueblood's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
I love Wild Bill, but I don’t like throwing bats, or excessive celebration after a HR. I’m sure he was very happy. But the Marlins were gut punched, don’t kick them when they’re down. I’m 70. When we played sandlot ball, throwing a bat was an automatic double play. We were only kids, but we knew if you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes. -
Why Pat Murphy Gave Cooper Pratt Tuesday Night Off
Ron750 replied to Jack Stern's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
It was sad watching Counsell mismanage Keston Hiura. I was against bringing Pratt up, but if he’s going to stay up, he couldn’t have a better manager than Murphy. The Brewers in general are getting away from good swing decisions and swinging for the fence. Get back to take what they give you. -
I’m resigned to accepting bites at the apple, without hoping for a World Series championship. The Brewers can’t win a WS unless their is significant payroll disparity reform. I’m 69, it probably won’t happen in my lifetime. Maybe the fact that the MLBPA President couldn’t keep his hand out of the till, or keep it in his pants will speed up reform, but I doubt it.

Angel’s fans say he was benched five times by Ron Washington for not running out singles, forgetting how many outs there were, making errors on routine plays. I hope Murphy has his Taser charged up. Durbin was a clutch player who left it all the field. Maybe the pitching obtained makes the trade worthwhile, but I don’t like how Milwaukee sports media feels it necessary to denigrate Durbin to justify the trade.

Seems like a hope and a prayer for an important position. They had to try seven players last year. I hope they have a better plan this year.

I hope this trade works out. But saying it’s not a drop going from Durbin to Hamilton, is not true. Hamilton hit .198 last year. Durbin hit .256 and was clutch. He had 4/14 NLCS hits. We need a power bat. What good are 14 starting pitchers?

Jett Williams's Hit Tool is Better Than You Thought
Ron750 replied to Jake McKibbin's topic in Brewer Fanatic Front Page News
Daniel Vogelbach is 270 lbs. Williams is 175 lbs. He should be emulating Sal Frelick. This team needs a contact hitter that can drive in runs not a guy that strikes out or pops out with RISP. -
Anthony Seigler was given more than a fair chance. I did not think he had the great plate discipline he was supposed to. I’m tired of the Brewers shopping in the bargain basement. We need a legit clean up hitter. If Yelich’s back is bothering him, he should retire. Then the Brewers could sign a healthy power hitter. And he could avoid a lifetime of chronic pain.

I don’t want Peralta traded unless we receive an established hitter. Either a decent DH or pesky high average contact hitter. We have plenty of pitching prospects. Why give away our most reliable pitcher for a prospect?

Dear Santa, From Brewers Fans
Ron750 replied to Telemachus Rafaelidys's topic in Brewer Fanatic Front Page News
I have given up hoping to be in the World Series. I would start again if a salary cap was ever instituted. I think if our pitching had no injuries and Yelich didn’t have back problems we could win a WS, but I don’t think that will happen. -
We had one reliable starter in the playoffs. Let’s try winning a World Series next year. That means keep Peralta. If they don’t keep Peralta, that means they’re just happy with bites at the apple. I want to eat the whole apple for once.

I mainly fault two strategies for our playoff problems. In the NLDS Murphy used the wrong pitcher rotation. Preister should have started the 2nd game. Peralta should have pitched the fifth, with an extra days rest and at home. I never thought we could win the NLDS. It was basically an All Star team versus an excellent regular team. I think they could have won one or two games if they had extended at bats that forced the starters out, but that’s hard to do when the pitchers are living in the strike zone. I don’t see the Brewers ever winning a World Series with Yelich as the DH. If he’s having back problems he should retire.
