  1. Every time I watch Oliver Dunn at the dish it seems he’s in a perpetual state of being on his heels. He swings the bat with too much passivity and too little confidence. That 2023 season looks like a big outlier
  2. Pretty much an identical situation as Patrick’s last time out. They didn’t trust him the 3rd time through against one of the best LH hitters in the game. With more length options now available in the pen and looking at a close margin with Crochet on the mound, I just can’t get mad at that particular decision
  3. Because they already DFA’d Payamps. Alexander would be the next DFA candidate, but they don’t seem ready to cut their losses there yet
  4. Well through 54 games last year the Mets were 22-32 and the Astros were 24-30, The Padres and Tigers were .500 as well I wouldn’t excuse the poor play and say “it’s early” - they’ve just been downright mediocre. But there is still plenty of time to turn things around
  5. Yeah he has underperformed but it didn’t feel fair to include him in that group. He has at least been better than league average!
  6. Frankly they could have a passable offense if their hitters were playing to expectations. Yelich, Chourio, Ortiz, and Mitchell have been so much worse than last year’s production
  7. If this score holds, it’ll be the 10th time the Brewers have scored 2 runs or less in the month of May. Doesn’t matter who is calling the shots if you need your pitching to put up 1 or 0 half the time out
  8. We can piss and moan about the pitching decisions all day along, but the offense has scored 1 run
  9. He let Priester face the top 6 hitters 3 times, so I’m not sure why he’d be afraid to let him face the bottom 3 hitters. He’ll probably say some BS like he wanted Alexander to have a clean inning rather than potentially having to bring him in to face Cruz
  10. Were you able to spend much time in Rome or was it just a one day stop on the cruise? I’ve done Rome as just a day trip on a cruise and it was so much less enjoyable than when we stayed a couple nights and were able to explore outside of peak tourist hours I can’t recall a time where I felt unsafe in Rome, but everyone has different experiences based on when and where they were
  11. I think I’ve found the perfect Hoskins trade: Mariners: Hoskins, Cash Brewers: LHP Brandyn Garcia The amount of cash determines if the Brewers get another lower level prospect or not. The Mariners are in first and have gotten below average production from 1B/DH. Garcia was successful as a starter last year, but the Mariners have pushed him to the bullpen in AA. He’s touching upper 90s from a funky release point. He has the Koenig arsenal that they could try to stretch back out into a starter. Either way, multiple fastballs, unique arm angle, etc are all hallmarks of what this FO likes
  12. Last year Jesse Winker and Justin Turner both returned a prospect that currently sits within each team’s top 20. Both were guys on expiring contracts with little defensive value. Hoskins will be owed like $10m, while Turner had about $5m left and Winker less than $1m. If the Brewers eat a chunk of that money and Hoskins keeps producing at this level, they could get an organizational top 10-20 prospect for him. If his production slips closer to the Turner/Winker range and they don’t want to eat money, then you’re probably hoping for a player that can sneak into your top 30. Just my guess based on past experience
  13. The starting pitching is just good enough to give them a chance most days The offense is doing just enough most days to keep games within reach The bullpen has been very good at keeping close games close and making unclose games close
  14. In the world where Matt Arnold doesn’t want to give him an extra year of arbitration and have even less money to work with
  15. Cruz has 6.4 career fWAR and at least half of that has to come from games against the Brewers
