  3. They were thinking it’d work because it should be working better than it is. They were 13th in SLG last year with mostly the same cast of characters. Instead much of the team is hitting for demonstrably worse power than they were a year ago
  4. The offensive numbers have come down and look closer to the true talent level of that lineup. I wouldn’t anticipate much more offensive regression, but that bullpen is due for it. They have a sub-1 ERA over the last month They are going to be aggressive in pursuing SP at the deadline. Hoyer knows he probably doesn’t have a job if he can’t get this team a division title. They’ll make it tough to chase them down. I’d feel more confident if we didn’t have to make up 5.5 games
  5. Last year Myers had a 91 Stuff+, 102 Location+, and 94 Pitching+. He doesn’t grade out well by stuff, but he located well enough and was able to effectively play his wide arsenal off each other (as alluded to in the Baseball America piece before the season) This year Priester has a 98 Stuff+, 98+ Location+, and 95 Pitching+. He’s mostly a 3 pitch pitcher right now between the sinker, slider, and cutter. The sinker and slider are solid offerings by Stuff+, while the cutter is lagging behind TLDR, Priester’s pitches grade out a bit better, but I wouldn’t say there’s a significant difference in stuff. Neither induce a lot of swing and miss and both are effective in different ways
  6. Big Rochester Red Wings fan? Certainly you’ve been locked in on Brady House ABs all season if you’re talking like that
  7. DRS has Ortiz as one of the worst SS this year, while OAA has him as one of the best I wonder how long it’ll be until we have a universal defensive metric, or at least ones that more often tell the same story
  8. Ortiz has been swinging the bat better over the last few weeks. Still not great, but not the black hole he was earlier in the year Hoskins has quietly been pretty bad over the last month or so. It’s like it’s impossible for this offense to get 3 or 4 guys swinging a hot bat at the same time
  9. The Brewers offense is so mid that a second run in the 4th inning is being called an insurance run for the Cardinals
  10. Rodriguez is on the IL with the dreaded forearm discomfort, I’m not sure any team would want him right now
  11. Things don’t look as bad under the hood as they do on the surface. He’s making consistent hard contact. The whiff and walk numbers point to a guy who would benefit from being more selective (easier said than done) The yellow flag is the bat speed. That’s a poor number for a guy who needs to hit for power to have value because he’s a negative defensively and on the bases
  12. So Luke Adams turned 21 a month and a half ago and has like a 180 wRC+ in AA. Feels like he isn’t getting enough recognition for the season he’s having
  13. 9th GIDP for Chourio, putting him in a tie for 8th in the league. Plenty of good hitters high on that list, but surprising given his speed
  14. It makes a lot of sense for both parties, you just don’t often see public trade demands in baseball
