  1. This organization needs hitting more than anything. They have repeatedly shown they can acquire pitching at low costs and turn them into quality innings. On the other hand, the offensive output has been more of a weakness than a strength for many years I have no problem stacking cheap college arms in the back half of the first 10 rounds and high school arms in the back half of the last 10 rounds, but I really hope they’re prioritizing bats in the early rounds
  2. There’s nothing this offense hates more than the opportunity to put a game on ice
  3. This doesn’t describe anyone currently in the Brewers rotation
  4. It’s unlikely we will be able to directly trade surplus MLB starters for SS/3B. The Brewers aren’t going to trade away controllable starters unless they’re getting controllable players in return. There are very few controllable SS/3B that will be available They can trade away rental SP, but the teams that want rental starters are unlikely to have SS/3B that would help our lineup that they’d be willing to give up It will likely have to happen in separate trades. Trade for a SS/3B and backfill with prospects acquired for Civale/Quintana/etc Go look at the top SS/3B this year. Most are on contending teams or are pre-arb players. It’s a tough market to find meaningful upgrades
  5. If your point is to write off a guy after a whopping 57 PAs, then that’s awfully foolish There’s plenty of time for the bat to come around, but the lack of a defensive home is the real issue
  6. Unfortunately options are limited. I don’t care to see Monasterio or Zamora as the full time SS. They don’t move the needle on either side of the ball. I could be persuaded to go Turang/Seigler up the middle, but it’s tough to move Turang off 2B unless you think Seigler is going to hit right away and play passable defense
  7. The only legitimate reason you wouldn’t do this trade is if you think Bellinger will opt-in to his contract next year and don’t want to pay him $25M. Otherwise it’s giving up an equally productive hitter for a guy who is better defensively and on the bases
  8. Nobody wanted to be the hero at the plate tonight. Plenty of opportunities for it
  9. Really he has only been bad for the two outings around the start of May. 2.33 ERA across the other 46.1 IP But I agree with the overall point. There’s a lot of time for this trade to go north or south
  10. I would agree that he hasn’t hit his ceiling at the plate, but there isn’t a lot of untapped potential there. He’s already doing a lot of things well and it’s still only a 114 wRC+. The raw power (106.6 max EV) is always going to put a cap on the upside. Maybe he walks more and continues to improve his ability to pull the ball in the air and peaks at a 15 homer season
  11. It’s not worth selling low on Mitchell. He really flashed defensively over the first month and the bat has produced more than not as a big leaguer. The injuries are frustrating, but that’s why you build organizational depth to weather the storm
  12. It’s only a problem if they don’t get enough innings out of their bulk pitchers, which would be a problem either way
  13. Just what we love to see, another lefty starter. We have seen 9 of the top 10 lefty starters by fWAR, only missing Gore because we haven’t played the Nats yet. After today we’ll have faced 7 of the next 10 as well
  14. He was sitting 88 in the first inning and 90 in the second inning on both his fastballs
  15. They did the hard part chasing Greene after 5 and then didn’t record a single hit or walk against the pen. Strange game
  16. We’ve robbed way more of those than we’ve been robbed over the last 10 years. Only fair I suppose
  17. Hoskins, Bauers, Sanchez, and Haase are all guys they’ve signed in the past two years with below average to bad strikeout rates. They will do it in exchange for power Also, Suarez’s strikeout rate is down this year. Not sure if there’s a specific reason for it, but it’s a respectable number (23%)
  18. Suarez would raise both the floor and ceiling of this lineup (career 2nd half: .262/.339/.486). I imagine they’d be interested in sacrificing some defense for more offense, but we’ll see how Durbin is swinging the bat a month and a half from now and where they’re sitting in the playoff picture
  19. Suarez would likely be one of the best IF bats moved at the deadline - a single 40+/45 FV prospect is a reasonable ask for that quality of player
  20. Trey Supak…that’s a name I haven’t heard in years. What’s he doing as a 29 year old in AA
  21. Between Wilken, Adams, and Boeve, they have the corner IF and DH spots filled. Someone is giving up regular ABs to make it happen
  22. Right, Hader was already making $11M and set to make more the next season. Big difference between paying a high quality starter $8M and paying a reliever $14M when you have Devin Williams as well. If they’re anywhere in the hunt I don’t see them considering a trade
  23. New elite defender just dropped
