  1. We’re a few years away from being able to make that call, but it certainly was a steep price to pay for an unproven arm
  2. I can’t foresee the Brewers getting an offer for Patrick right now that is greater than his value as a guy they can shuttle between Nashville and Milwaukee for the next 3 years. Maybe he could be part of a larger deal though
  3. Wisdom is the first name that came to mind when I saw the question on the previous page. Hopefully the power takes off in AAA like it did for Wisdom
  4. There isn’t a whole lot this team is doing well right now. They certainly could just be a mediocre team all year long, but it’s way too soon to tell Some records through 5/3 last year: NYM: 16-16 SDP: 17-18 HOU: 12-20 ARI: 14-19 All these teams ended up winning at least 88 games. I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but there’s plenty of time to get things on the right track. It starts and ends with the stars starting to play like stars
  5. I didn’t say they needed work, I said they hadn’t gotten much work. Giving Mears and Uribe a lower leverage inning off a couple days rest isn’t jeopardizing this team
  6. Absolutely horrific? The high leverage arms hadn’t gotten much work lately and only Anderson shouldn’t be available tomorrow. Might as well try to keep the game in reach
  7. The stuff will play, but he threw too many non-competitive pitches the first time up. Hopefully he’s more confident in his stuff next time up
  8. Perhaps I’m missing a joke, but they were 19-11 at this point last year If we’re looking for hope, we did get punked in the series opener against both the Royals and Tigers and then followed those by winning the series
  9. He also could just be cooked. Below average glove and below average runner means you’re betting almost entirely on the bat. A long term deal would not be within the risk appetite for this franchise
  10. The Brewers outfield is the least of its problems right now. Even with Mitchell stinking it up and Chourio being more good than great, they’re still top 10 in OF WAR and 15th in OF wRC+ If there’s an avenue to add a really good player out there, then by all means go for it. But it pales in comparison to the need in the infield
  11. I probably would’ve put this take out there before he was in the middle of a 5 game hit streak :)

Hunt Man what a tough exercise, am I right? So many talented prospects at very different places. I’m doing this on mobile, so it was a struggle to update. I’ll just say I tried to find a balance between upside and proximity to the bigs, but it was hard to find something I felt good about 8-20
  13. You can’t win a division in April, but you can lose one There’s obviously no objective truth to that statement, but I think there is merit to the importance of keeping a team within striking distance. I have no problem with Murphy choosing his moments like he did last night. I think we have a clubhouse/culture built to handle those moments correctly
  14. I only caught the last 1.2 IP but I think he topped out at 94 in those innings
  15. Just a two month difference between the two. Chourio turned 18 a month before the season and Made turns 18 in 8 days
  16. You don’t see 17 year olds with swings like Made’s. It’s fluid, controlled, and explosive. Such a special prospect with the switch hitting ability and possibility of playing up the middle defensively
  17. Love to see Adams finding his footing in Biloxi. Between him and Martinez we have some unique 1B prospects that hopefully can impact the big league club in the next year or so
  18. I think the future starting pitching grade is rather harsh as the lost prospect projection is a very unlikely outcome. It also ignores the young, controllable pitching that has performed well in the big leagues or on the cusp of the big leagues (Misiorowski)
  19. Or they knew the situation wasn’t great but they weren’t willing to pay what was needed for a meaningful upgrade. Quality 3rd basemen are hard to find right now Only 11 teams have a wRC+ better than league average from their 3rd basemen. It’s not just bad teams struggling to get production from the position: NYM (77 wRC+), LAD (69), CHC (57), PHI (51) Durbin has gotten off to a nice start. We’ll see where he settles in, but we don’t need him to do much more than hover near league average
  20. Of course, but it’s too early to say it’s part of a larger problem rather than just a slow start. That’s all I’m saying.
  21. Need more than a month of subpar performance to start pointing fingers. The team had a worse wRC+ in June and September last year than they have this month
  22. Capra is not the reason for our struggles, but he is not helping this team in any way. It’s time to search for a more productive use of that roster spot
