  1. I do not understand anyone who wouldn’t love to add Suarez. The Brewers have lots of young controllable talent on the ML roster and a deep farm system. It’s the perfect time to trade from some of that depth - most of those prospects will never become more than replacement level major leaguers anyway. If the bidding gets so high that we’d have to dip into the top 5 or so of the farm system then I would agree that it isn’t worth it. Anything less than that, it should pedal to the metal Let’s look at this another way. Look the quality of prospects this organization has turned into highly productive big leaguers these last few years. Durbin, Patrick, Myers, Perkins, Collins, etc. None of these guys were even top 15 prospects. This organization has proven to be very good at finding value where other organizations miss it. We can trade away guys like Bitonti, Gasser, Boeve, etc. and be no worse for the wear We are barely using our bench and are power deficient. Suarez has been a great 2nd half hitter. Our division rival needs him worse than we do. Let’s go make the trade or at least make the Cubs significantly overpay
  2. The dream can live on when we grab him with the 30th pick next year 😉
  3. Ortiz with some fantastic late game defense this series. Just a really good series for him overall
  4. I doubt the Brewers view it that way considering how good Collins is with the glove. Black would have to be like a 150 wRC+ hitter to be of similar value
  5. Every night this team gets huge contributions from someone different. Such an easy group to root for You would’ve had me institutionalized for saying that two months ago
  6. Heck of a win to kick off the second half. Important win for the 1 seed tiebreaker too ;)
  7. Awfully tempting to put Priester out there for the 7th. I doubt he will though with Freeman up
  8. I wonder how many times that trio has been K’d 3 times to start the game. Can’t be many
  9. They won’t DFA Mitchell this offseason. Too much upside for what it costs to keep him financially and there are always some AAAA players that are easier to cut from the 40 man
  10. He has pitched well this year, but I’m not convinced the underlying skills point to a top of the rotation starter. He hasn’t been great against lefties and has really struggled the third time through the order. I think he looks more like a strong backend starter long term I guess my question is what is it about Myers that you’d be willing to give him up, but not Patrick? We’re not even a year removed from Myers having the type of rookie season that Patrick is having. He put up 2.7 bWAR over 140ish innings. He scuffled a bit coming back from the injury but appears to be throwing the ball really well in Nashville now
  11. The top of whose rotation?
  12. The Brewers will have invested about $42M in Brandon Woodruff once this deal is up. He has given them (so far) 690 innings of 3.09 ERA ball (17.7 bWAR). If anyone is getting the short end of the stick here, it’s Woodruff
  13. I believe Hughes is a switch hitting shortstop. He took part in the MLB draft combine. He had a max EV of 105 in BP
  14. Right on cue, they grab a 6’6” pitcher
  15. Big Ten coaches must have nightmares of going to watch their commits and seeing Ginger behind home plate
  16. Another cold weather pitcher in Hayden Vucinovich :) This time dipping into Minnesota
  17. Ragsdale seems to be a standout in the Cape Cod league this summer
  18. Episcope had TJ in high school and internal brace this spring. Former Illinois HSer
  19. Another cold weather pitcher. I’m shocked!
  20. Kiley McDaniel mentioned him as a possibility here in his mock draft
  21. I don’t care who they pick as long as there are a couple future HOFers in there
  22. Durbin is basically the same hitter as Frelick. Outstanding bat to ball with some pull side power. Both guys dump soft liners in front of outfielders and get their share of infield hits. I don’t think there’s a lot of luck there, it’s just an uncommon skillset DRS has Durbin tied with guys like Turang, Chapman, and Santana. I wouldn’t say he has been great, but I think he has been above average
