  1. "I'll give you a hint. His last name is Christ. He has the power of flight........."
  2. That is pretty ridiculous considering it's more than 24 hours after the storm ended. However, depending on the timing of the storm, things can get pretty hairy in Milwaukee. I don't think anyone working in Milwaukee at the time will ever forget the Monday after Thanksgiving storm in 1995. It was complete gridlock. People were running out of gas and abandoning their cars in the middle of the road downtown.
  3. I don't get the Erin is hot thing. Not seeing it. She's not ugly....but hot?
  4. I think some of it depends on if you know you will eventually drive out of the storm. My first job our of college was as a regional franchise auditor for a national real estate company. I remember one time I was driving home from Iowa (towards Milwaukee). As I was driving through Illinois there was a snow storm and the conditions were horrible, much like what was described here with cars all over in the ditch. I white knuckled it because I knew that once I got toward the IL/WI border things would clear up. Looking back, not sure if it was the smartest thing to do, but sometimes you just want to get home.
  5. Skimming through this thread, it's clear there are people on both sides of the fence in regards to their approval or non-approval of the Brewer's recent aquisitions. I guess in the 2 or 3 years we will see how this all pans out. However, I will say that this beats the Brewers of the 90's and early 00's when the Brewers: A) were pretty much a non-factor in the off-season and B) Did very little to develop or aquire talent that would help them in future years.
  6. I have had an MTD for over 10 years that has served me well. It struggles a bit with thick heavy stuff left at the end of the driveway by the plow, but it eventually gets through it.
  7. I don't understand this. He has been a reliever for 10 years. He has only posted an ERA over 4 in two of those years. He has pitched in places like Minnesota, Colorodo, and Houston....not exactly pitcher friendly parks. He's clearly shown that he is not a 4.0 ERA reliever.
  8. So, I realize that this game is at UW-GB and that they are a decent team. However, the line has Wisconsin only favored by 4? That seems pretty low.
  9. He finished really strong last year (if my math is correct). Last 10 games: 2.54 ERA and 0.876 Whip Although he did struggle a bit in the playoffs.
  10. This last weekend on the MLB network they replayed the Monday Night game where Fidrych threw a complete game against the Yankees. My 11 year old son got a kick out of his antics on the mound. They also played the 1984 Cub/Cards game where Sanberg hit 2 game tying HRs. In watching both of those games it was interesting to see how loose security was when it came to the fans (fans climbing on top of the dugouts, throwing stuff on the field, etc) compared to how it is now.
  11. I'm not sure I understand this statement. I would insert the word "not" betweeen "would" and "play". Also "only" 33? Player's generally peak between 27 and 33. They usually don't improve after this age period without artificial help. Not a big fan of Rivera or keeping 3 catchers. I'm guessing he was being sarcastic.Ahh...should have known. I'm a big fan of sarcasm. Seriously...not being sarcastic about that.

  13. I've gone to this thing once or twice in the past and have never been very thrilled with it. The "low" prices on items that did not sell during the season does not justify the hassle and the crowded conditions in my opinion (especially when it's cold out and you're wearing a bulky winter jacket). If perhaps they decided to move it to some "roomier" part of the ball park I might be more interested.
  14. Not sure I ever understood all the love for Rivera.
  15. I'm not seeing where it states this? edit: Nevermind, I see it now.
  16. Finally, another song (other than Suppan and Counsell - who's gone now probably) that I'll recognize.
  17. Ditto what yoshii said. I pretty much thought it was a given that either Figgins or Beltre would be on the Phillies next year.
  18. I was watching the 25th anniversary of the Rock and Roll hall of fame show last night. I'm completely amazed at the longevity of some of the performers. I thought Smokey Robinson (69), Sam Moore (74), & Buddy Guy (73) all still sounded great. The way Buddy Guy can still play the guitar is unbelievable. And whether you're a Stones fan or not, I don't know how anyone can watch Mick Jagger at age 66 move around the stage like he does and not be amazed.
  19. I agree that he's not above criticism. No one is. Two things that I will criticize Selig for: A: Tying the All-Star game to home field for the WS. Was an over reaction and was not necessary. B. I cringe every time he refers to this era of baseball as the "Golden Era" of baseball. I personally think there is a lot more to that label than just looking at attendance and revenues.
  20. No Kidding! I was at that game and when I was walking to my car, I just thought "Wow, that was weird", but I had no idea how outraged some fans would become about it. I got in my car, turned on the radio, and I could not believe the venom spewing from the mouths of callers in a post game talk show. Why? It's an exhibition game! Give it a rest already.
  21. I have to repeat this every time the subject of Selig and what he did as an owner of the Brewers comes up. I don't know how anyone who is a Brewer fan can criticize his ownership tenure here. If I had to pick one personal hero for myself when it comes to baseball and how that person has effected my love for the game, it's Bud Selig. Bud Selig = The Brewers. Period. Without him, there are no Brewers. It's as simple as that. In my opinion, that negates any perceived ownership faults he may have had. At the very least there is no Brewers in Milwaukee without Bud. If you want to accuse him of having selfish motives to build Miller Park, so be it. The fact is that if Miller Park is not built, there would no longer be a MLB franchise in Milwaukee. If you don't think that is true, then I think you are kidding yourself. I often think of what my relationship with baseball would have been if Selig had not brought baseball back to Milwaukee in 1970. I think it would be casual at best and I probably would have followed in my father's footsteps and become a Cub's fan.
  22. That music is from "2001 Space Odessy"...correct? I could never really get into that movie, but I really like that song. It actually reminds more more of the movie "Being There" than it does "2001 Space Odessy"
  23. Not to sound too critical of some of the suggestions posted here, but I think IIR's original post was looking for an alternate quicker way to "laminate". Seems to me like individually taping each item would not save a whole lot of time. The varnish coat or plastic sleeves seam like possible solutions.
  24. If I'm an older minor league pitcher (25-28ish) and I'm seeing a guy like Halama get another shot, it has to be frustrating. Halama? He wasn't good when he was good!
  25. Out of curiousity, I went to Orbitz and tried to book this same package to see what the cost would be. I'm assuming I have the same hotel (Embassy Suites - Biltmore on Camelback Rd.). Midwest Express did not show up as an option. However, non-stop using airtran the cost for 2 for March 10-14 would be $1,478 vs. $3,695 through the Brewer's package. So, unless you think all the "extras" that the you get with the Brewer's package is worth $2,217, I would suggest booking your own package. This took about 5 minutes of my time. Really not that hard to do. Even if I don't have the exact same hotel that is in the package, there are plenty of other nice resorts that you could go to for far less money. Like ewizabeff, the ST trip that my family planned was for longer (6 nights) and cheaper. There are 3 of us and we are staying at a golf resort. The total price was less than $1,900 (hotel and flight). The Brewer package would cost $5,545 for 3 people (for 4 days!). Yikes!
