  1. It really came as no surprise to me. Mostly because anything he did lately was always out of the ordinary. Did anyone catch wtmj when it broke? That lined up pretty wierd. They were discussing Farrah and McMahon and said something about "who will be the third?" and not 20 minutes later they had the news MJ was in cardiac arrest and then reported his death not too long after. The other part of that is that one of the two guys was crackin jokes about MJ "sham-oh-ing" the doctors in the ambulance. Unexpected from them. We'll see what the direct cause was. Speculation of various pills, or overworked from training for his tour combined with cancer, which I was unaware of. So what was your favorite MJ song? I'm going with Smooth Criminal, followed by Billie Jean, and then I Want You Back.
  2. I shoulda got one when they first came out as they were in the 20 dollar range, now they're selling for closer to 40. They'll come back down and then I'll get one. Just browsing eBay, it appears they gave them out in 3 seperate boxes. Paul, can you verify that? Probably won't matter which box is what, so I'm not concerned. Cleveland doesn't need variant jerseys, which is great. Only 25,000 people were there I heard as well.
  3. Just got back from the lot. Got Jason Kendall to complete my 2008 bat. Super glad to be done with that, but he refused to put his number, though every other signature has their number with it. Casey McGehee and Todd Coffey both signed as well. A lot of guys were running late, it sounded like there was a team meeting? Apparently people started lining up for Fielder at like 1:30. I opted to play wiffleball instead of go to the game tonight.
  4. Echoing above comments, how can anyone be happy that CC got hurt outside of Boston? His competitive nature is through the roof, and I still root for him as an individual though I'd love to see the Yankees miss the postseason.
  5. I was trying that with a wiffleball bat last night and was able to do it a little bit. Yet I could only get one spin, and it was a wiffleball bat. He gets at least 2, maybe 3 spins, which is pretty awesome.
  6. Bat tricks Amazing. (if this should be moved to Off Topic, go ahead)
  7. I just picked up an official lineup card the other day with a potential pitchers dual of Sheets Vs Santana at Shea signed by Yost. The final (not written on the card), was 5-3. It was 25. It's probably not worth much more or less, but still a pretty neat item.
  8. I don't know why anyone would want a pitcher to sign a bat. It doesn't make much sense to me, but there are people out there that do it. The only way I'd want one is if was game used. I just checked and Fingers batted .172 for his career with 31 hits and 2 dingers.
  9. Gino's is great! For two people, one pizza and your good for 2 meals each. I recommend sausage over any other meat topping beacuse they use crumbled sausage. I haven't been there in awhile, but I think it was around $20. Find out which bands are playing taste of Chicago too, as they usually have some normally expensive acts for free. Summerfest type headliners.
  10. I met Dustin Diamond at Victor's about 7 years back. Everyone was saying "Screech" this and that. I knew he was trying to pursue a music career, and a little bit about his band. So people were asking about Saved By The Bell, and I just said "That's old news, he's playing bass with Salty the Pocket Knife now." At that point, he grew a grin ear to ear and made some room for me and him to talk about music. He met his wife in Milwaukee while his band was recording (his wife's mom is a teacher in Germantown). I actually had a pleasant experience with him and talked to him for 10-15 minutes. Through the entire conversation he was polite, but when people asked him about Saved By the Bell he blew them off. I even tried to book his band a show, which he agreed to, except the garauntee was something like $1000 and I didn't wanna front that kind of cash. Also, his band was terrible (they've since broke up), but I think they are on myspace. I also saw him do a public speaking once when my friends sister when to Kennedy Middle School. I thought he did a good job and was a good sport about that too. Granted he was mostly talking to parents and middle schoolers. I have heard other stories where he was a jerk though. There's a later part to that story at Victor's that I wasn't there for, but I had told it before and gotten it deleted by moderators, so I won't repeat it. If you really wanna know, inbox me.
  11. Edit: Fixed above
  12. I recently put up a few small things on eBay. A "Buck Fever" sticker with Oscar Robertson on it. A pair of Brewers socks from 1984 still sealed in the bag they came in. And a Houston Astros change purse. Not sure the year, but it's gotta be from the early 80s or before that. 13. Remember that MLB of the future game? There was a link for it not too long ago. Those were bad, and these are worse. I don't spend 80 bucks on shoes, I'm not gonna spend 80 on a t-shirt. They kinda come off to me as some superficial tough guy look. But clearly Chris Anderson looking like a member of the WWE proved me wrong. Whatever MLB players dress and act like off the field is fine with me, it's not like I hang out or see any of these people at bars. I would just hope this is what Braun was always into, not just jumping into some silly look cuz he can afford it.
  14. Kendall and Suppan are very similar in pose. Not that it matters to me all that much, a little variety woulda been good. I wonder how much of that is because of Hoffman's pose (and cost for that), and the talking Braun.
  15. I went to the Sabathia one. I got there plenty early, I was only 20 people back. It did get really long though. I thought it was pretty well organized. People were very good about calling out line jumpers. However, one of my students parents jumped in line with me last minute. Even after telling him I didn't think that was a good idea since everyone here will know since we've been here for 4 hours, he still stayed there. He did get an earful from a lady, and still stayed. It was pretty sad coming from a parent of a high schooler.
  16. Very nice! How big is that room? It seems like it goes on forever! Someday I will have a basement again. I can't wait to get my stuff set up and displayed.
  17. I remember when Zambrano said he was going to win 20 games, the Cy Young and the World Series. I didn't buy that, and I wont buy into this.
  18. I'd probably be okay with that to a certain level. They couldn't charge for admission though, obviously.
  19. Meant to letcha know earlier. Got mine, nice ticket! I like it's got a design on it, not just a plain ticketmaster type stub. Thanks!
  20. If people are willing to stand in line for 3+ hours, let em! If they turn around and sell their bobblehead for 15 bucks, they got a whopping 5 dollars an hour and most likely wasted a beautiful sunday morning. If that's their idea of a good time, more power to em. You get a ticket of your choice in advance, show up in time for the first pitch, and enjoy your morning however you intend to. I don't know why small things people take interest in become such a problem for others. During Miller Park's ticket pricing board meeting when the Uecker seat idea was brought up, marketing HAD to have consdiered that at some point in time the Brewers would be a popular attractiction. They also had to have guessed that maybe, just maybe more than 106 people would find out about these obstructed view tickets and use them to their advantage. They probably also realized there is 3 or 4 sections of 6 dollar tickets called Bernie's Terrace where in some areas you can't see right or center field, and people will buy those up, promo or no promo. They are a cheap ticket, and you can get them in advance. Seems like they found away to win back that money that they seem to be "losing."
  21. I love they'll be in Riverwest. There's already people posting on JSOnline complaining of going to that area because basically "gasp" black people live there.
  22. With eBay around and no longer collecting cards, I haven't been to one in more than 15 years. I kinda wanna check one out soon, just to see what's all out there. How often do they occur and where is the best place to find out when they are? How much do they cost to get into now? I'm assuming former Brewers don't show up and sign autos anymore do they? Do most guys still just sell cards, or is other memorabilia available?
  23. it is only one per person.
