  1. The "c" in Lucroy is not capitalized. Also, DiFelice.
  2. Ah, so they are predictions, not factual statements about future happenings. When you say "We will all learn that this year when..." it sounds like you have some inside knowledge or foresight when in fact, it is just a wild guess. I personally do not know what I will learn in 2009, and I do not believe anyone else really does either.
  3. with his song. And quite softly.
  4. We will all learn that this year when he struggles to hit AAA pitching. When will the stock market rebound, and also I'd like to know how many games the Brewers will win next year?
  5. Three random thoughts: Good luck on the house, fondy. My fiancée and I are in the beginning stages of buying one (hopefully by this summer) and I've already started popping extra Prilosec just thinking about it. In addition to looking for a new house, I'm looking for a new job. Anyone know of a really cushy, high-paying position where I can just stay at home and play with my daughter all day? I took out my earrings this morning for the first time in nearly two years. They required a needlenose pliers for extraction.
  6. Plus they re-signed Marte, and may yet re-sign Pettite. Signing your own guys doesn't count for or against the free agent quota.
  7. A very good reliever? To me, a Cabrera for Cameron or Cabrera and Igawa for Cameron trade is a win for the Yankees in a vacuum. However, if trading Cameron for Cabrera (and Igawa) frees up enough money for Fuentes, I'd say 3 years of Fuentes, Cabrera and Igawa would quite probably be more valuable than a year of Cameron.
  8. Igawa is guaranteed $12 mil for the next three seasons. Whatever chunk of the contract the Brewers assume, they would owe him all of it.
  9. Great episode. "Is there something wrong with the doll?" "No... it's... even better than the one I wanted."
  10. It will take Sabathia 460 years to earn my salary. No, wait...
  11. Story here. Cappy might well come back on a minor league deal with a lot of incentives.
  12. Chuck James was just non-tendered. He's gonna get a nice little deal somewhere.
  13. Patrick, I think you might be under a little on the arby estimates for Hardy and Fielder... maybe not both, but I could see the two of them together making $1-2 million more than what you've listed. Piccione noted that the minimum salary is indeed $400K next year, and there's the Brewers' incentive based minimum salary thing. I'd put the payroll with those players at a little over $70 mil.
  14. Oops, I hit the wrong button and deleted my post... Soriano is a good call, but I have to think if Braun, Cameron and Dunn are in the same outfield, Braun would be the guy in RF. Cam would still have to cover Dunn something fierce in left, though. Will Soriano be healthy next year, would be my only question. And would the Braves deal him coming off an injury?
  15. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/e4915f4592d893261e5475737514ddf726a57db.jpg Bastard.
  16. After playing a year and a half in advanced A and a year and a half in AA, he turns 22 in a week. While age doesn't necessarily correlate, it is certainly reasonable for a talented 19 year old to struggle in advanced A.
  17. Might as well put it in this thread - the Reds also signed Livan Hernandez today. Two Hernandezes in one day - well played, Jockety. In other news, Livan Hernandez is terrible.
  18. This is not a factually correct statement. It would require foreknowledge of the events of the coming season to know this. Clancy, I'm pretty sure you do not have such foreknowledge. What does Peavy have to do with the Wild Card anyway, assuming the Brewers and Cubs are the two best teams in the division?
  19. According to this report, the Reds are closing in on a deal for Baltimore catcher Ramon Hernandez, but the Brewers are also interested.
  20. The Twins wouldn't spend the money on him because they didn't want to give him a third year. I believe it is they made an astute call, though the contract isn't too bad for the Dodgers.
  21. Morrow was the 5th overall pick in the 2006 draft. He has a big (BIG) fastball, good slider. It looks like he's added a splitter to his repertoire, too. He is very highly regarded. Gamel would not be enough to get him, probably.
  22. According to Cot's, Hardy's agent is Donnie Mitchell. I agree with TLB, contact the Brewers first.
  23. You have to think a Brewers-Mariners trade of some nature is gonna happen sometime this offseason. I'm sure Jack Z. has guys in the Milwaukee system he likes more than Melvin, and Seattle has some parts the Brewers could use (including Putz).
  24. Link to the JS. To be announced later today. The article states that the Brewers plan to platoon Lamb and Hall. I think that's what they would do if the season started today, but the season is a long way off. For those keeping tabs at home: no, I do not believe this qualifies as earth shattering news.
  25. We wouldn't be trading Weeks for Johnson, we would be trading Hart for Johnson. Johnson can play the OF (and I'm assuming Weeks could, too). So they can play on the same team. Johnson's career OBP is 33 points higher than Corey Hart's.
