  1. Yah, that's why I dislike episodic TV shows. With a limited number of protagonists each week, usually one deus ex machina emerges, though that Dr. Bishop is one awesome deus!
  2. I just looked at the scoreboard. I must be looking at a different game, because this one is tied.It is inevitable after what just happened. No, it's not. But if you believe it is, you can stop posting.

  4. Baseball Reference is your friend. .250/.281/.429
  5. Not that this is a topic about politics per se, but the undertones are there. No threads involving politics, please.
  6. "Her heart stopped." "Do you have any cocaine?" "Cocaine? No, I don't have any cocaine." "That's too bad... you'll have to shock her heart." Whats up with the gun that she gives to younger Bishop(sorry his name escapes me), he takes 2-3 shots and its out of bullets? Peter didn't run out of bullets, Penrose ran around the corner. Peter had to stay with the girl to resuscitate her.
  7. I'm taking a year off from the Packers for the most part. After the 4th & 26th play a few years ago, I lobbed a bar stool against the wall. And then after last year's loss to the Giants in the Championship game, I chucked (and I mean chucked) a laundry basket hard enough to leave a foot long break in the wall in my room. I realized that that was enough. I have more important things to direct my emotions towards.
  8. There was a Ned Yost reference on ECW tonight. ECW has become my favorite WWE show. They actually have wrestling, including Matt Sydal (er, Evan Bourne), one of the best pound for pound wrestlers in the business.
  9. The thing is, they won't be out of it in the next five days. Unless they are 4-5 games back by then, I think they have to do anything they can to get to the playoffs.
  10. Pffffff... I got nothin'.
  11. Here's to Ned Yost coaching somewhere in the NL Central next year!
  12. And now if the Brewers fail to make the playoffs, Sveum and the rest of the coaching staff (except Billy Castro of course, and whomever they bring up to coach third... Money?) are probably out of a job. There aren't many bright sides to tanking a playoff run, but one of them surely is the canning on Ned Yost. 9/15/08: Yosted no more.
  13. Iron Chef. I just discovered that it had moved to the Fine Living Network. I'm willing to wade through a crushing number of Martha Stewart commercials to watch it.
  14. Yah, that's more or less it. My model is obviously a couple years older, plus it has a pickguard and the bridge is torqued to the end of the body. I really like it, but of course try it out before you buy. Here's a really bad picture I just took of her: http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/1331584b99d4972c26a45fa3002cecee84e349f.jpg
  15. This inspired me to re-listen to this album for the 5th or 6th time because a lot of people whose opinion I respect really love this album, but it's never done much for me. Not much of Built to Spill's stuff has. So, after re-listening to it... Velvet Waltz is a really good song, but I just don't hear the genius. Reminds me of a watered-down Modest Mouse. To each their own.
  16. Peavey, when I got my guitar (I was a beginner at the time), I got an Ibanez hollowbody guitar. The reason I went Ibanez is because I've played their basses for years and I love them. The reason I went hollowbody is that I could play it as an acoustic when I needed to practice at night, and plug it in to sound sweet as an old-school bluesy guitar. I love it, and I paid about $275 for it a few years ago. It even works pretty well (well, it sounds unique) with distortion pedals. And it sounds really sweet with wah-wah and reverb. Edit: It's actually a semi-hollowbody.
  17. Already being discussed here at length. And please AVOID CAPITALIZING THINGS WITH LOTS OF PUNCTUATION!!!!!!!!11!
  18. I just watched Fringe and enjoyed it a lot, even though I had a few quibbles. Joshua Jackson's character seems a bit too forced in a look at me I'm funny sort of way, I got the X-Files vibe straight away (I disliked that show) and this seems like it will be more episodic-oriented than shows I generally like (shows that have few, if any, standalone plot episodes). The show also had some carbon-copy elements of Lost, down to some of the fonts, the credits and the musical queues (which makes sense, as the music was done by the same guy). If it bears any similarities to Alias, I'm in the dark as I haven't seen that show at all. But all that said, I think the show has a lot of promise. If the budget of the pilot has any bearing on the rest of the series, we're at least going to be in for a visual treat. There are any number of ways the plot can go from here, and any guesses about character development or lack thereof at this point is purely conjecture - there's too much of a small sample. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. St. Petersburg is only ~150 miles closer to Houston than Milwaukee is. However, I agree that it's a better option that Miller Park due to proximity to Chicago.

  21. Mike Lamb is totally due. Edit: You're welcome! Free Mel Stocker.
  22. I think the Brewers keep Schroeder around because he appeals to the Milwaukee core fan base: he's a beer drinking, big gregarious guy, down to earth and has a sweet 'stache. Plus he kind of looks like the brunette version of Bernie Brewer - anyone else notice that? He doesn't bother me as much as he used to in part because I can mentally tune him out when I need to. Anderson is pretty decent, and I think in a few years after he gets more major league game calling experience, he could be a pretty good one. As has been mentioned, he doesn't know the difference between a warning track dead duck and something that has a good chance to get out of the park, but I'm willing to cut him a little slack for a little while longer. Like the saying says, the grass is always greener... While I admit that I don't listen to much radio play by play outside of the Brewers (and occasionally, the Twins), I have a difficult time believing there's anyone better out there than Ueck and JP. They're both treasures.
  23. What you're trying to say is... IT'S BIG BOY TIME.
