  1. Check out darkknight.brewerfan.com duh.
  2. Before I posted this, I checked out Counsell's OBP - it is .348. I will give him credit for playing well recently. But like you said... long term, would you rather have him in there or someone with upside like Rickie?
  3. http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/06/21/weeks-activated-iribarren-down.aspx The Hurricane's latest stint was a tropical depression at best, but I'm glad not to have to see Counsell batting leadoff.
  4. One outing from Pascual is not worrisome. Chris Dennis on base two more times is sweet. Kid might be a much talked about prospect shortly.
  5. You bite your tongue. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Mark DiFelice is a horse of a pitcher. And if we got into the playoffs, yah, I'd rather have Sabathia than Bush (actually, Sabathia over McClung I guess) and yes we'd get draft picks for Sabathia and yes it would be awesome to have a Sheets/Sabathia front end of the rotation. I could live with trading LaPorta as a centerpiece for Sabathia, and I realize it would also take either Salome or Lucroy, plus a Green or Gillespie and some other spare change sprinkled in. I would just want to make 100% sure that Sabathia could put us over the top first. I don't want to look back on 2008 as the year we had Sabathia for a couple months before he went to the Yankees after not making the playoffs.
  6. The difference between Sabathia and Bush is maybe a couple of wins over the course of half a season. If you want to trade LaPorta (I wouldn't even think about trading Gamel) for a few wins, you better be darn sure those wins will be needed for something important.
  7. Nick Tyson might be heading back to Helena to finish out the season. Something needs to be changed if you're getting hit at a near .400 clip. On the other end of the spectrum, Alexandre Periard is really turning it on in June. He had a tough May for sure but all the peripherals are trending in the right direction from last year (except for a little increase in walk totals). I'm still very excited for his future. It'll be a fun 170 innings in AA next year. To think he was drafted 4 years ago, and just turned 21 the other day.
  8. Durham's defense is slipping big time, while Grudz is still a good defender at second. Assuming that they'd both cost about the same in trade, I'd take Grudz.
  9. Chris Dennis has a boatload of power. He may struggle making contact for awhile, but he has as much slugging potential as anyone below AA.
  10. I'd see if they were interested in Dillon and Narveson if Rickie was still struggling and if Grudzielanek still had an OBP in the .350 range. Dillon is a good hitter, but his inability to play a good second base really limits how he can help this team.
  11. Just finished season 3 myself, haven't seen the first episode of season 4 yet. Season 3 wasn't as good as the first few seasons IMO, but it was still pretty awesome. The "Good Morning Agrestic" shorts in the bonus features were hilarious. Hard to believe the show is on season 4 already... it's all become a bit of a haze. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. The second baseman must lead off.
  13. The video right below it (the 8:30ish one) shows the end. Yah, I thought the batter had to commit first.
  14. By the time Stetter messes up, Choate will be ready.
  15. Little boxes on the hillside, little boxes made of tickytacky Little boxes on the hillside, little boxes all the same There's a green one and a pink one and a blue one and a yellow one And they're all made out of ticky tacky and they all look just the same. And the people in the houses all went to the university Where they were put in boxes and they came out all the same, And there's doctors and there's lawyers, and business executives And they're all made out of ticky tacky and they all look just the same. And they all play on the golf course and drink their martinis dry, And they all have pretty children and the children go to school And the children go to summer camp and then to the university Where they are put in boxes and they come out all the same. And the boys go into business and marry and raise a family In boxes made of ticky tacky and they all look just the same.
  16. The Rays are becoming one of my favorite teams, if only because I'd love to see a team other than the Yanks or BoSox win the division. And the Rays beating out the Yanks for even the WC would send the Steinbrenners into a sublime fit of rage.
  17. In the past 24 hours I've seen license plates from both Alaska and Hawaii.
  18. Now that the candidates for the major (and most minor) parties have been decided, just wanted to make sure everyone knew where to argue about their favorite political and religious topics with their fellow Brewerfan users.
  19. I wonder if he'll accept the assignment in AAA or try again with another team?
  20. Was that a joke about taking a walk? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

  22. The Bay City Rollers, minus one member?
  23. Her favorite thing to fall asleep to right now is a selection of instrumentals from Richard Wagner operas. She's been listening to a bit of "A Love Supreme" as well as some Dave Brubeck. I've just put Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue" on her iPod.
  24. I've decided that one of the major responsibilities I have as a new father is introducing the wide world of music to my daughter. I got her an iPod Nano, and now that I have it in my hands, I've been contemplating what music should be essential listening for a very new person. So far I've put some of my favorite albums on it, and have tried to include a decent array of classical, jazz and country/folk music there too, even though those genres aren't an everyday part of my listening habits. Brewerfan, what are your ideas on what a baby should listen to? I'd love general thoughts as well as specific examples. Thanks!
