  1. Got one on the board. Braun crushed that ball. Pitcher completely missed his spot.
  2. Got to the Marlins bullpen in the 6th inning. Now they need to make it pay off.
  3. Putting up a snowman in the 8th. When the bats are hot, the Brewers offense is as good as any.
  4. Some good OF defense by the Marlins late in the game. A couple extra base hits robbed.
  5. Nelson can have Counsell turn his season-ending injury into a rallying point for the team: "Sometime when the team is up against it and the breaks are beating the boys, tell them to go out there with all they've got and win just one for the Big Sweater."
  6. That might be the straw that breaks the camel's back. What a lousy turn of events. And all for taking a wide turn at first base.
  7. Shaw seems just a little off lately. Not quite the same big RBI producer like earlier in the season.
  8. Arcia's power has been a pleasant surprise this season. Great time for the 3-run bomb. Hold them down and finish the comeback.
  9. Bats have woken up. Need to make this a big inning now.
  10. Managed to do so. Bats need to pick up Anderson after that inning.
  11. There has to be some sort of explanation for that record when trailing after eight innings. It's unpopular to say, but perhaps it simply is a psychological, mental makeup reason. Too opportunities go by with tying and/or go ahead runs on base but a failure to capitalize.
  12. Once more unto the breach while trailing after eight innings. Is this the night the win is pulled from jaws of defeat?
  13. Maybe, just maybe, this is the start of the Broxton hot streak?
  14. June wasn't too good. July has been worse. Post All Star Break has been dreadful. Scroll down to see some of the splits here: https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/split.cgi?t=p&team=MIL&year=2017 Lowlights include a 2-6 record, 6.57 ERA, 1.824 WHIP for the bullpen since the ASB, not counting today.
  15. 3,000 for Adrian Beltre. Double to clinch the mark. Nice to see on Hall of Fame induction day.
  16. Barnes since the All Star Break just hasn't been great. Giving up runs in four straight appearances has now made his stats even worse. Barnes is probably where he needs to be in the bullpen: 6th/7th innings when the team is trailing. Unless he can turn around, he can take the Torres role next year when the bullpen is reworked in the offseason.
  17. Did Shaw send a dead cat in the mail to the umpires' association or something? Doesn't seem to get any close calls on strikes or swings his way.
  18. A two out infield hit and a tennis lob to center field equals two runs. Couldn't get any of those from our lineup last night with game-winning runs on base. Just frustrating to watch this for two weeks. Can't imagine what it's like for the coaching staff or some of the players.
  19. Using Torres looked like trying to match up with Rizzo, who had something like a 1-for-12 record against Torres according to the stat thrown up on the broadcast. Guerra being DL'ed or optioned makes sense. He just doesn't look right out there on the mound. Bringing up a reliever while working around the Guerra spot with the off day makes sense short term. That would give the management the ability to evaluate whether Woodruff is good to go with another AAA start in five days. They could bring him up for the next time Guerra's spot occurs, which I guess would be AUG 8. (EDIT: Of course, trading for a starting pitcher would likely render the Woodruff scenario moot.)
  20. I sure hope so, but this looks like a systemic problem with the franchise top to bottom. Take a look at the BB:K ratios of the MLB roster and those of the top hitting prospects. It's not difficult to find 1:3 or worse. I know that's not an end-all, be-all stat to point to, but it's a bit troubling. It's a symptom that free swinging is the norm, and not only for the current MLB roster.
