  1. Needed a bit more than the soft fly to right from Braun.
  2. Dramatic ending to a 7-run win. Nice way to send the Saturday night crowd happy.
  3. Not sure why the attempted stolen base there. But can't complain about an 8-spot.
  4. The catching tandem of Bandy and Pina is performing at near All Star level on offense through mid-May. Makes one almost forget the lack of Lucroy on the roster this season.
  5. Knebel walking the high wire with no net, but he makes it safely to the other side. Need to push across some runs for a potential sweep.
  6. I live near Harrisburg, PA and have been to all three of the stadiums (Philadelphia, Baltimore, and DC). Each is served by either light rail or subway stops. It's about the best way you can get to the games, particularly DC, where traffic and parking is a real pain. You'll find that the eastern cities are places where public transit, including Amtrak between the cities, works well. Rail service (train or subway, depending) is present at Reagan National, BWI, or Philadelphia airports. It isn't odd to see people carrying luggage on the trains or subways. Of course, packing light is a good idea, if possible. Most of the standard tourist sites in DC are reachable via the Metro. Independence Hall in Philadelphia is right off a subway stop. Inner Harbor in Baltimore has a couple of light rail/subway stops close by. If you'd want to see some other areas around the cities, then renting a car would make sense. But if you're primarily just going to games and hitting the big sites, then you could basically just use public transit and/or Uber/taxi around. Just get hotels that are in the center city or near stops. (That info would be on their website descriptions.) I'm hitting the July 21 Brewers game in Philadelphia. There's usually a decent smattering of Brewers fans at games there. More usually attend at DC, where there's usually a Wisconsin and/or Marquette alumni chapter event. IIRC, some other Brewerfan people who live/have lived in the three cities, not just visited, even if from nearby. I'm sure they'll chip in with their thoughts.
  7. Wasted the pitching performances tonight. Lousy time for the bats to go quiet.
  8. Excellent job by Garza to get out of that 6th inning jam without conceding a run. Need the bats to wake up and get him a win.
  9. Just in time for May the Fourth.... Mashing up "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and Star Wars? It has been done: http://io9.gizmodo.com/someone-has-turned-every-song-on-sgt-peppers-lonely-he-1794815698 Lyric videos have been posted on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/PaletteSwapNinja
  10. OT: You will have to see the triple play turned by BAL at BOS. Going to be some controversy about whether the infield fly rule should have been called. Worth seeing on the highlights.
  11. Clutch offense bailed out the team tonight. Hate seeing the four-run leads evaporating, but that W in STL looks good. Those were two mammoth HRs tonight by Villar and Shaw. Very sweet to see those swings from the left side of the plate. Just needed a Thames homer for the lefty hat trick.
  12. So, LouisEly: got any lottery numbers to pass along? Seriously, very good prediction thoughts on the players. So far, I do like this draft. Never know how the players will turn out, but it looks like Thompson had a good analysis of what was needed and has picked that way, while still keeping value in mind. A couple more rounds to go; never know what gems might get uncovered with them and UDFAs.
  13. First pick tomorrow; Thompson better charge up the phone. I wouldn't mind trading down a few more spots and pick up an early 3rd round pick.
  14. Tossed away back-to-back games at Wrigley. They simply have to be able to close out games with multiple run leads in or after the 6th inning. If this becomes a trend, then it will be a long, aggravating season.

  16. The story of infielder-to-pitcher conversion might put him on the radar, but as a prospect Ramirez is likely under-the-radar. I'm interested to see if the change to pitcher works, so that the Brewers may have the left-handed Brooks Kieschnick.
  17. I think "pitchers" is being used in the most generous way. We have 13 roster spots for people who go to the mound and throw a ball. The number of pitchers is yet to be determined.
  18. Yes, it would. Probably not an in-game thread question, but I've wondered why there is need to carry 13 pitchers instead of 12, as it seems most MLB teams do. Having another player available to pinch hit would've been very helpful.
  19. Runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Three strikeouts. Looks like the Brewers are in midseason form.
  20. Poor FT shooting finally bit the Badgers. Bound to happen sometime.
  21. Going to need a new thread for 2017. Looks like the dismissal of Klinsmann from the USMNT has paid immediate dividends. Still a long way to go in the Hexagonal for qualification, but Arena has about the best start possible.
  22. Election results were posted this evening: http://m.mlb.com/news/article/213764086/2017-baseball-hall-of-fame-election-results/ More coverage here: http://m.mlb.com/hof and http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/18504557/jeff-bagwell-tim-raines-ivan-pudge-rodriguez-elected-baseball-hall-fame Bagwell got 86.2%; Raines got 86%; Rodriguez got 76% Congratulations to the new inductees. Let the debates over omissions begin, including Hoffman and Guerrero narrowly missing the 75% threshold.
  23. What a game! Still feeling up nearly an hour later. Not much to pick at with the offense's performance. I didn't like the conservative play calling after the pass interference call that led to the first Crosby 50-yard+ field goal. Had Dallas scored a touchdown on their drive, that would be the topic of all sports radio shows tonight and tomorrow. As for the defense, I'm not sure what Capers can do to dial up anything better at this point. Just plain running out of talent on the roster. That said, the Cowboys' game-tying touchdown drive was hard to watch. We've seen that a bit too much; hope not to see it again this season. But our guys in Green and Gold have earned another game of football this year. Let the magic continue for at least another week!
