  1. I have 1 more question that is kind of off topic but someone may know. Does anyone know the hours of the Brewers Box office at Miller Park? Is one even open? I'm heading to Milwaukee Friday, and was hoping to save a little $ by buying the tickets Friday instead of Saturday, but can't find the box office hours anywhere. Thanks.
  2. So has anyone heard what the Saturday event is going to be like? I wish they would make some announcement of what's going on other than the autograph times and what else there is to do. I've never been to the Midwest Airlines Center, but I'm guessing that when the doors open at 10, it's going to be a mad dash just like at Miller Park... only with more confusion because people like me are much more familiar with Miller Park than the MWA Center. I just REALLY hope they sell the autograph tickets in advance of the player signing so people can walk around and see what else is going on and not stand in line the whole time.
  3. Ok, my bad. I went to 42 games last year and only saw him sign maybe 5 or so times. Maybe I just missed him, but each time I saw him sign was right before stretching... and like you said, you can't get down there unless you have tickets there. I've gotten Fielder enough in the past that I don't really need him. But I still think it's crappy he doesn't show up for the team functions.
  4. I'm sure he does have some sort of legitimate reason for not being there. But part of my mind thinks that his legitimate reason is because he saw this weekend as a time he should come back to Wisconsin, and decided to make other plans to avoid that. But it's not just him missing this that ticks me off. He missed his appearance at the block party this year, and it was announced like 12 hours before the event. Hey, he might of had a good excuse for that as well. But then I look at Autograph Friday's this year. He was scheduled twice. The first one, he came out 8 minutes late, signed for 12 minutes, then left. And his second appearance was canceled. He may have had a good reason for being late here. But if you put all that together, at least in my opinion, it seems like he could care less about these TEAM events that the TEAM puts on for the fans. And as for him being one of the best signers in the game, I would have somewhat agreed with that in 07. But this year he has taken a huge step back. He rarely signs at the lot. He used to sign quite frequently before games, but he rarely does that any more. I can totally understand this, because the sellers drive me nuts... I can't imagine how the players feel about them. But with him constantly missing the team events, to me he's kind of flipping the bird to both the team and the fans. Like I said, he may have a legitimate excuse, but it just seems fishy when he can't make an event 1 Saturday of the summer that he was informed about months in advance... and that he can't make it back to Milwaukee 1 weekend in the winter, when he was informed a couple months in advance.
  5. Ok, this is probably going to sound really stupid, but how did you do this? As in, did you just run Excel and then turn all the data into a chart or something? I wanna try to do this, but don't want to go through a couple hundred pages and then realize I screwed up somehow.
  6. Redd plays D when he WANTS to play D. If he goes up against one of the better players in the league, you usually see quite a bit of effort out of him. But he is just not very athletic and has a hard time keeping up with his guy. And that's the main problem with him defensively. They talk about LeBron's improved defense this year, but he is athletic enough to make great strides in that department; Redd just is not. And another thing, Redd's efforts on D are seriously affecting his play. I just don't see how playing him 40 minutes(or a lot of minutes) per game helps the team. I don't have his 4th quarter statistics in front of me but he struggles in the 4th quarter, and I'm guessing this has a lot to do with tired legs. Jon commented in the 3rd quarter last night that Redd could go for 50, or even 60. Then Redd goes out in the 4th quarter and goes 0-3. And it seems like it's that way EVERY game. Just look recently. How often has Redd started out the game on fire... with 15-20 in the first quarter... then he just fizzles out? And I had to laugh when I looked at the box score last night. 2 games ago he had 1 rebound in 40 minutes. Last game he had 1 rebound in 40 minutes. With all the shots that go up in an NBA game, I think I could get 2 rebounds in 80 minutes of play. I'm sure I could get lucky and have a couple bounce out to me or something!!
  7. Ha... yep, that's where I'm from... and Tom Wopat is the big guy from Lodi. I'm not sure if that's something to brag about though...
  8. Anyone know for sure how this thing is going to be run? Will they sell autograph tickets the day of the event? I mean, at 10:00 when the doors open, will they start selling autograph tickets for each timing? That Gamel and Salome group looks inviting, but I don't really want to stand in line for 4 hours to get them. With all that is going on, I kind of want to explore, but yet I don't want to risk not being able to get them. In the past, they have had 1 big line for each stage, and if you didn't catch the first group, you were there for the second group. I'd imagine they wouldn't do this with the charging for the autograph. Anyone have any idea? But I agree on the Fielder front. Good Grief. He doesn't show up at the block parties. He's always late on autograph Fridays. And now he's not showing up at this? I can see if he chooses to not sign autographs in the stadium or by the lot, but these are team functions.
  9. Wow... last night's episode was interesting. And in my opinion, it ended the best way possible. I thought the beginning with the speed gun was great. That's something I could really see Michael doing. But I was worried about how the whole Andy/Angela/Dwight thing was going to play out. I like the Dwight/Andy slight feud/competitiveness angle, and was worried if Angela chose one or the other they would start hating each other. But all in all, I thought it was a pretty good episode. The Michael at corporate thing was kind of weird though. What did Wallace really think he was going to get out of Michael?!
  10. Ha... Ok? So why is it that the Bucks have been184-266 in the 5.5 years that Redd has been the team leader?! To score the most points, you need to play defense, rebound, and share the ball... Last night's line by Redd is a perfect example. He played 40 minutes, was 8-21 from the floor for 16 points, with 1 rebound and 0 assists. How in the world can a player play 40 minutes and only get 1 rebound?!
  11. Wow... Ok, this is WAY off topic... But I'm curious... are you and/or Lodiness by chance from Lodi? I've seen Lodiness post before and I've always meant to ask, but never got around to it.
  12. If the Bucks continue to improve, it's not without top ten picks. There's Bogut, Villanueva, Alexander, and Jefferson were all drafted in the top ten or close to it. Yeah, I understand that they have top 10 picks, but they don't have a super star in the group. The best way, and probably the only way, the Bucks are going to get a super star is through the draft. And the more lottery picks they can acquire, the better chance they have on finding one. Most of the top teams have missed on lottery picks as well, but, in my opinion, eventually finding a superstar is worth all the misses. I think the Bucks can be a top 4 team in the east in a few years if they stick with a plan. I'm not saying they'll be a dominate team, but given how the east currently is it's quite possible the Cavs, Celtics, and Pistons aren't elite teams in a few years. You can't really say that because you don't know what the eastern conference will look like in a couple years. After a couple years, Redd, Jefferson, Ridnour, Bell, and Villanueva will be gone or on their way out, so you have no idea for sure what the Bucks roster will look like. And you also say that the Cavs, Celts, Pistons won't be elite teams, but what's to say the Knicks, Bulls, Nets, etc... won't be an elite team by then? I'm assuming you mean the Cavs won't be an elite team if James leaves. Well, all the rumors say if he leaves he's going to the Knicks or Nets, so whichever team gets him has a good chance to turn into an elite team. That 2010 FA class is going to improve a lot of teams, and make others much worse.
  13. Right, I was just trying to catch draft picks made by that team, or on a couple of instances players were picked by another team, but a deal had already been made to trade them (like Bryant and Aldridge I believe). And then you can also talk about the Celtics trading their high lottery pick to Seattle for Allen, and him being an intrical part of their Championship team last year. But I'm just trying to say that it's hard to build a team without being bad for a year or 2. It kinda sucks that the Bucks haven't been able to cash in on their lack of success. Their lottery pick last year is already gone, and their pick this year is rumored to be on his way out.
  14. There are a few second round picks on this team that managed to not go in the top 10 yet are pretty darn good players. I know it's much easier to win a championship with a top 10 type talent, but it doesn't HAVE to happen that way. Take a look at the top teams in the league(.600+ Winning %) and look at where they got their better players: San Antonio- Duncan(#1) New Orleans- Paul(#4) Houston- Yao(#1) Phoenix- Stoudemire(#9) Lakers- Bynum(#10) and Bryant(#13)- I know Charlotte drafted Bryant, but they drafted him with the intent to trade him. Denver- Anthony(#3) Portland- Oden(#1), Roy(#6), Aldridge(#2) Utah- Williams(#3) Orlando- Howard(#1) Cleveland- Lebron(#1) Detroit- NONE Boston- Pierce(#10) So of the top 12 teams in the league, 11 of them have a lottery pick as either their best, or one of the best players on the team. The only team that was able to assemble a winning team without a top draft pick was Detroit. I'm hoping that Hammonds doesn't think "Hey... this is how Detroit built their team, lets do that in Milwaukee." It's just hard to get top end tallent unless you draft it, especially if you are Milwaukee becasue no players want to come here in a trade or as a FA. But you do need top end tallent to win in this league. And Redd, Jefferson, and Ridnour aren't going to do that. And although Bogut is a good player, it's unfortunate that the year we had the #1 there wasn't a LeBron or Howard or Yao. Paul and Williams went in that draft, but that was really the only position we were set(or the team thought they were set) at with Ford and Williams.
  15. It's just so hard to predict how the league is going to be in a couple years. With the huge free agent class of 2010, it's hard to tell what teams are going to have by then. But I just don't see the Bucks competing in the next couple years, so what's the sense of holding onto Redd and Jefferson? They have 3 years left on their contract (including this year, I think)... and barring a miracle trade or winning the draft lottery, we will still be in the 7th, 8th, or just out of the playoff position. If I was Hammond, I'd just try to get rid of everything Harris left you with. Trade Redd/Jefferson/Villanueva/Sessions for younger players with upsides, expiring contracts, and mainly draft picks. My thinking is that neither Redd nor Jefferson would bring back all that much, but if you add a player like Villanueva or Sessions to the deal, they may get more back in return. The way I'm looking at this situation is similar to how the Brewers dealt with Cordero, albeit a longer way out. But instead of losing Redd and Jefferson to free agency, trade them now for something that may help in the future. But I just think this team needs to build through the draft. And the more draft picks they have, the better chance they have to A) win the lottery and B) hit on a star player. That is one of the ways I would have been a fan of the Conley trade. If Memphis sent us back a top 3 or so protected first, I would have been all over that trade.
  16. I'm not arguing with you about that. I just pointed out your stats were wrong... and that you can't take 11 games out of a players stats. And I'm also saying that players had been picked in the lottery with worse stats than Alexander. Like I said, I hated the Alexander pick; but you're making him out to be the worst player ever. And even if you do take those 11 games away, he still has very similar stats to Green and Brewer. So in my opinion, was it a reach to pick Alexander #8? No, because, if I remember correctly, he started playing basketball at a later age and very well could be a late bloomer. That 11 game stretch could have been the time that he finally "got it" and could have been the time he was going to blow up. If Alexander was playing and averaging 15 a game now, nobody would be saying anything. But because he has hardly played "well... those 11 games weren't the true Joe Alexander. He must have just eaten more Wheaties on those days!" And in my opinion, was Alexander the right pick for the Bucks? HECK NO!! They knew he was going to be a project. I shuddered when I first heard that the Bucks were high on him. But what's new? I've pretty much been against every move the Bucks have made in the last 5 or so years. I was hoping Hammond would come in make some better decisions. And I guess you can't argue against what he's done so far. They are on pace to make the playoffs. But with this team they will just be stuck in mediocrity for as long as they are together. I'm just scared that the Bucks will make the playoffs, and then during the offseason think that they don't need to make changes. With the players this team has now, this team tops out at a 7 or 8 seed. So to answer the question Fondy asked, I'm almost cheering for the Bucks to fail this year. I just think this team needs to be gutted, with Mbah a Moute and Bogut being the only players that stay, and started from stratch. Redd is Redd. He's a decent player, but should not be a number 1 option on any team... and is not worth near the contract he has. I was kinda excited when we acquired Jefferson, but he has turned into the typical Buck chucker. His free throws per game are WAY down, and his shooting % is down as well. Ridnour has played well, but in my eyes he's not a point guard that can lead you far in the playoffs. Villanueva, I'm not gonna lie, he's my favorite player... and ranks right up there with Darius Miles as my favorite players in the league. I loved him at UConn, and was pumped when the Bucks traded for him. But he is just not a good fit for this team. He would flourish in a run and gun system. But his D is pretty bad, and he gets in stretches where he's a Bucks chucker, throwing up ill advised shots from the outside. I think a team like the Bucks, where you aren't going to get any big time free agents, needs to rebuild through the draft. And once you get a keystone player, go from there. I LOVE what Portland has done. They have been lucky with the players they have drafted being sucessful, but they also made some savvy trades to stockpile talent. To me, I'd rather see 2-3 seasons of rebuilding(maybe even more) if it means this team can get a true star on the team than be stuck with a team that is hovering around .500 every year knowing they will never advance in the playoffs. Sorry for the long post... I was just going to say the one thing, but got on a roll I guess.
  17. Yeah, and James has regressed every year since his freshman year. Wow... looking at his stats it's pretty impressive that someone can drop in each of points, rebounds, and assists in each year from his freshman to junior years. He probably would have been smart to leave after his freshman year. 43% shooting? 48% from the line? 32% from three? I didn't realize he was that bad!!
  18. Stats are stats. And that's what you're pointing out. And if he would have had those 11 games spaced out throughout the year? What if he would have had every game like those last 11? You are just pointing out stats!! You can move stats around, or take them out to prove any point you want, but in the end you have to look at the whole body of work. So maybe next year if MLB doesn't want the Brewers to be in the playoffs, they can just take out a good month and say they don't count? And I could care less about Green and Brewer in the NBA. You are making a point that Juniors with stats like that don't get picked in the lottery. They do!! So your point is null.
  19. First off, let me say that I HATED the Joe Alexander pick. I thought it was horrible planning/scouting, and that is why the Bucks are not a good franchise. But I have to say, get your stats right!! Joe averaged 16.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists as a junior. Just because "he only had an 11 game stretch where he was good" doesn't mean you can take those stats off the book. If that's the case... take away all of Jordan's games where he scored over 15, and he's just an average player. Lets look back at the 07 draft where 2 juniors went before #8, one 5 and the other 7. Jeff Green as a junior averaged 14.3/6.4/3.2. Corey Brewer averaged 13.2/4.7/2.9. I'm not comparing these guys in any way but their stats. But since you are looking at Alexander's stats, I seem to think that these three are relatively close. So no, it is not unprecedented for a player with those stats to be picked in the lotto. And also, Alexander was not horrible his soph year. 10.3/4.3/1.9 isn't a bad stat line. I know he did shoot poorly, but you are making his sound like he's a JP Gavinski or someone. Come on now buddy!!
  20. I'll throw in my 2 cents here. I've always been a Nick Swisher fan. He just always seems to go all out, and yet have a smile on his face. But I agree with the couple that are wondering if his bat would outweigh the lack of CF defense we would have. I just really like having a true CF out there... and just love watching Cam play out there. If Swisher was more of a sure thing at the plate, I'd say sure, why not? But who knows if he's gonna hit .220 or .260? While thinking about this, and looking at the Yankees situation, a thought came to me. What would everyone think of Nady? To me, he is a more sure stick. So if you are moving Hart to CF, I think his bat would offset the switch. I know he's only under contract for 1 more season. And I know he's a righty. But he does hit RHP pretty well, .270/.317 in his career. I know there's probably stats somewhere to tear this apart, but just a thought.
  21. Did someone mention Darius Miles?! I'm rubbing my eyes, and it still looks like Darius Miles. I HAVE to be dreaming!!
  22. And most players DO live in warmer climates year around. Just because they play ball in Milwaukee doesn't mean they can't live in a warmer climate during winter!! So obviously, their families don't live here year round. The school year takes up about 3 months of the baseball season. 2 months at the beginning and 1 at the end. If you take into account that the player is on the road approximately 1/2 of that time, the player is missing their families for 1 month at the beginning of the year, and 2 weeks at the end of the year more than if they were close to home. The school year really doesn't have a bearing on anything because unless the player plans on living here, they are not going to switch schools for 3 months. And during the 4 month summer months, the family can live in Milwaukee, or commute back and forth. I'm sure players can afford to buy multiple plane tickets. EDIT: And the Milwaukee Bucks are a totally different animal. They play here in the WINTER. When it is cold!! Last I checked, it isn't usually -10 during the summer here.
  23. Our ticket rep also told us that if you purchased a 20 game pack that did not have opening day tickets, you would be able to purchase them at a later date. I'm hoping this is still true.
  24. Duh... this is obvious!! The guy had an obsession for the Mikey character (the Mikey Likey kid) and went to the restaurant and got pop rocks... ate some of them. Went home and drank a soda making his stomach explode... and he died just like his hero Mikey!!
  25. Just FYI, if Sheets signs with the Rangers, we won't get a first round pick. They have the #13 pick, and the top 15 are protected. So we'd get a sandwich pick and a second rounder. So we'd only have 1 first round pick, our own.
