  1. the hockey hall of fame is also there if that is your cup of tea. been there a couple times...pretty interesting
  2. the head of the BC board was just on with charlie sykes. he sounded awful. the "uh"s and "ah"s were painful to listen to. he was a beautiful politician though...dodged every direct question and sounded like a fool doing so. sykes also made an interesting comment about how private places like the riverside theater and alpine valley are able to sustain themselves without naming rights and/or public support. the BC is on a much grander scale, but with the high price concerts and 3 major tenants, you wonder why they are so unsuccessful. i know everyone preaches about the need for more club seats and corporate crap, but will that make that much of a difference?
  3. explained it the other day elsewhere...it is the big 10 champs banner that michigan state never got to unfurl a few years back. who hangs a banner to unfurl right after the game? EDIT: LINK to bigger picture
  4. definitely some shady journalism. i hope the sauk guy gets a personal apology from the WSJ. Like in person at his front door. what a ridiculous error to print. everyone seems to quick to report stories these days...things like this happen way too much EDIT: here is the story "retracting" the comments. http://www.madison.com/wsj/home/local/273363
  5. it appears this is not the same person: http://buckyville.yuku.com?topic=4073
  6. we went through the whole port-a-john thing last year. the brewers are under zero obligation to provide restroom facilities. remember, it is a parking lot first and foremost. people choose to tailgate there. (and i understand that tailgating is a given for many in the lots some also argue that the lack of johns is an under-handed attempt to get people into the park to buy their food/drink there. there are plenty of johns in the park...i have seen people go in for that reason alone before. from my experience, i have never seen ridiculous lines at either the sausage haus or helfaer field. 5 minutes tops in my experiences. it can be quite a walk from some places, but you could walk there and back twice in the time you wait in the lines for the port-a-john. remember...closer is not always faster. and you just take a couple beers with you on the walk and you are set! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  7. i know they will always give you one when you get tickets from the ticket office. maybe they are waiting until after saturday? i havent seen any yet, but i havent been looking either
  8. i really thought this thread was about kyle kendrick being a punk for some reason before i opened it. great stuff. did they ask him to get the key for the batters box after that?
  9. save them for once or twice during the season i say. they used that gimmick to raise attendance the past two years...hopefully they dont have to worry about that this year
  10. slobber, or slopper? (just kidding...no real need to open that can of worms again!)
  11. the rolled up banner at michigan state that said 'big ten champions' MSU planned to unfurl it after they beat the badgers and clinched the conference...which didnt happen!
  12. i have some replicas with numbers sewn on. they are a few years old, so i dont know if that is still the case
  13. i miss rain delays...seriously. i have lots of fun memories of goofing around in the bleachers during rain delays. one night the bleachers were so empty that they forced us into the grandstand...that was pretty cool.
  14. thank you...i highly enjoy it!
  15. this should hopefully help/solve the complaints about the number of cars in the lots for the opener. cram as many people as you can in each vehicle is my plan. as for $10 for general parking, it is fairly normal compared to prices for parking at other pro sporting events. just more reason for me to take the shuttle from a bluemound bar.
  16. i dont know if anyone really knows this. i was trying to figure this out a couple years back and didnt have any luck
  17. I don't understand this comment. It seems as if the definition of a bandwagon fan would be someone who just wants to go to Opening Day to party and get drunk. The Brewers are taking care of their season ticket holders, which are the loyal fans. That's the way it should be. If you want Opening Day tickets, pony up for a season ticket package. They're not that expensive. This year will be my 29th consecutive OD. if you read my post, you would see that i am a season ticket holder. i have been since i moved back home from college in 2002. i have also purchased group tickets (for the opener and other games) at least a dozen times since then also. that is where my thoughts of "alienation" are coming from. i feel used. it went from "sure we will sell you all these tickets when the team sucks...no problem". now it is "sorry...too bad" i say they have mismanaged their tickets because they usually have this taken care of in december. it would be nice to know for sure what, if anything i will get. i can then tell people that they should attempt to get their own tickets. they know how many tickets are allocated for each type of ticket (season, group, single game, etc). this is the only way they knew to stop offering the opener with the 9-packs. i was told that the same number of tickets for groups are available regardless of how many other tickets they sell. in the past, tickets for the opener have actually been available at the ticket office last minute because they dont sell the season packs set aside for. on a personal level, i dont care since i will be there anyways, but i am just looking to help out my friends who have came to rely on me for the past 5+ years. some of these people are transplanted to mainly minnesota and one as far away as south carolina, so i really dont see them buying season tickets. i understand their problem...demand is greater than supply, but you think they would have seen that coming and not waited until "possibly mid-march" to solve the problem. the easy thing to do would be to not offer them my business, but i like the brewers too darn much to do that!!
  18. it is a little late, but pretty much all the online photo places (walgreens, walmart, etc) will do them fairly cheaply or maybe something like this: http://www.createphotocalendars.com/downloadsoftware1.htm
  19. im not holding my breath, but i think something will become available...even if it is just a partial. like i said...it isnt the end of the world to me, i have my season tickets so i will be there. the brewers ticket office has got real good at alienating their loyal fans at the expense of the bandwagon over the past couple years. EDIT: didnt someone comment above that saz's is not doing a tailgate this year? they also had theirs last year in their parking lot with a shuttle bus to the game.
  20. some of you may remember that i taught at tech for 3 years (03-06). the school is an architectural disaster. it is nice and pretty on the outside, but completely useless for education on the inside. there are definitely still lockers in the classroom. they had to add walls between the "halls" and the "classrooms" after the fact. there was talk of actually adding doors to some of the areas as well. you just cannot explain what it is like teaching there. impossible comes to mind. the principal when i was there left this year, so i cant speak to the administration, but a large majority of the staff that was there two years ago are good teachers. the trade teachers are spectacular. unfortunately they cant/dont get the same concessions in terms of who they admit and who they dont like say rufus king. it was amazing how one useless student could ruin an entire class.
  21. nothing today unfortunately. the guess of tomorrow looks good
  22. we need this in the FAQ for sure!! a valentine's day woot-off...that would be interesting
  23. they are hinting to it in the newsletter i got this morning:
  24. the brewers have terribly mismanaged their group tickets for opening day it seems. i have been getting group tickets for the past 5-6 years and they have been getting worse and worse each year. i understand their problem. they are including tickets to the opener with so many season ticket packages that it reduces the amount of tickets available to groups and the general public. a good team means more season tickets, which means less single game tickets available. miller also has a deal where they get a good deal of tickets for the opener (this is where leff's gets their tickets supposedly) the team apparently does not have enough tickets to fill all of last year's group sales, and apparently are taking until possibly mid-march (!!!) to solve this problem. they had this problem last year also, but sent out information well before individual tickets went on sale. i was told that nobody who got their tickets through the brewers has tickets yet, which is probably why bars are not selling packages yet. now i have the dilemma of either: A) telling friends to get their own tickets, then having the brewers tell me they have tickets for me, leaving me to eat extras (i know i can get rid of them somewhere, but that is not my intent) B) telling my friends i will probably end up with the tickets, then not getting them and screwing everyone over like i said, i understand their problem, but the way they are solving this is pretty poor. it sounds like something that involves coming up with a system to determine who gets how many tickets (season ticket holder, number of years being a group ticket purchaser, purchasing other group tickets throughout the year, etc.) it is almost as if they are trying to get groups from last year to say no thanks to solve the problem for them.
  25. jimmy chitwood misses the game-winning shot, coach norman dale is run out of town for beating the crap out of him after the game, and shooter drinks himself to death.
