  1. It's Gutekunst. http://www.packersnews.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/2018/01/07/brian-gutekunst-gets-green-bay-packers-gm-job/1011265001/
  2. I believe K-cups have grounds inside of them, not concentrated liquid coffee. I actually buy most of my coffee at Costco because they often have stuff I like, but I can not count on that anymore. I know that's how Costco operates. But going to the grocery store recently, I was dumbfounded by how little selection there really was. I never considered ordering from Amazon; good call.
  3. I'm a coffee drinker and make all of my coffee at home. I use a regular coffee pot, grind my beans, etc... I have noticed that over the course of the past year or so, coffee in grocery stores/Costco has been replaced with large packages of K-cups. I do not want a Keurig; I drink 3 cups a day, they are expensive, and create a lot of waste compared to how much I drink. I want more selection in the stores and I'm getting less.
  4. I'm hearing rumors that Jim Leonhard has been approached by other schools. Can we just pay our coordinators a bit more, please?
  5. Same holds true for the Final Four. The semi-finals flip-flop between TBS and CBS and I think this season the championship game will also be on TBS. I feel like the LCS in baseball is the same way; used to be nationally broadcast on a free network now on cable.
  6. First, they need another way to get students into the game. When I was there, we exchanged vouchers the week before the game for a ticket. The student section filled up randomly so it looked much more full than it was. I would much prefer going back to his method if they can prevent people from A) camping out ahead of time and B) having one person from a frat saving a spot in line for 20 other people. Second, they should punish students that don't show up. This could be done in any number of ways, including scanning IDs as students walk in. Your ID is not scanned? You lose your tickets and can't buy them in the future. It would raise the question about what would happen if a student can't make a game and they need to sell their ticket, but I'm sure there could be some fail-safe built in. Or they could reward students that do show up; scan IDs, you are entered into a drawing of some sorts for a prize that is worthwhile.
  7. The Bradley Center was built to attract an NHL team and because of that, it's a great hockey arena and a ho-hum basketball arena. I used to go to a lot of Bucks games in the early/mid 90s and the seating angles are awful for basketball if you happen to be in a section past the end of the floor. What's funny is that I went to a lot of Brewer games at County Stadium in the same time period (my dad's company had season tickets to both and he bought whatever tickets went unused) and I still really miss County Stadium far more than I'll miss the Bradley Center.
  8. Double beds in hotels seem sort of pointless. I'm 6'2" and somewhat large and my feet hang off the bed and don't have much space to roll over if my wife is with me. If I'm forking out $129+ for a hotel room, I want to be comfortable.
  9. The make up game from the phantom rain out in Chicago. It was such poetic justice to absolutely crush the Cubs after they called that game.
  10. It was a cheap course west of Madison. I found out there was a bar's annual golf outing, so most of the people that had music were associated with that group and they were pretty wild. But there were no rangers out there to monitor.
  11. I thought someone else posted this, but I didn't see it, so sorry if this is a repeat. Do people really have to play music through their bluetooth speakers everywhere? A couple weeks ago, we were hiking at Devil's Lake and this couple was on the trail behind us and they had a speaker in their backpack playing music. Can you not enjoy nature without music? Nature has its own soundtrack and I'd rather be immersed in nature without hearing someone else's music. Then yesterday the same thing happened when I was golfing. No fewer than 5 groups were playing music on the course. Really?
  12. It took someone dying from being hit by a puck for the NHL to require nets be installed behind the goal. Should it take a fan dying from a foul ball for MLB to do the same? Injuries due to foul balls, flying bats, etc... are 100% preventable. Bringing a young kid to a game should not prevent you from sitting in good seats.
  13. Our neighbors have a couple of dogs and built a fence to keep the dogs in. They bought a fence kit, so the panels came pre-assembled; he just dug holes and attached the panels to the posts. The fence panels do not go all the way to the ground. Depending on where the yard is there could be as much as 6-8 inches of clearing between the ground and the fence. Well, the youngest of the dogs has dug several places where he can get out of the fence and is frequently seen in the neighborhood. It has been in my yard several times, and he's big enough to scare my kids (he's probably 35-40 pounds). I have spoken to my neighbor about it and he said as he fixes places the dog digs, the dog just finds new places to dig. Luckily, the dog is pretty timid and responds to when I yell at him to go home. But, I am really tired of this dog in my yard.
  14. Last year there was one dedicated Packers thread, similar to the Badgers and Bucks threads. Could that be done again?
  15. We had mice in our house a few years ago. Put out traps, caught them, but kept getting them. Called pest control guys and they sealed up open areas they could get in and haven't had a mouse in 3+ years.
  16. On July 14, I was asked to write a letter of recommendation for a former student to become an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts. I was told that the committee was meeting on Saturday 8/29 to determine whether or not he would be awarded the rank, so I had to have it mailed by then. I didn't realize then that 8/29 was a Tuesday, not a Saturday, but 7/29 was a Saturday. I wrote the letter this week and was going to mail it today and revisited the email to find this typo. I feel really bad if it was due in July and not in August.
  17. [sarcasm]Maybe they're just preparing for the total eclipse we'll be able to see on April 8, 2024.[/sarcasm]
  18. Almost every time I type on my phone, my thumb hits the "b" rather than the space bar. I end up typing things like "The Brewersbwonbtoday," which gets pretty annoying after a while. Maybe my thumbs are just too fat.
  19. I agree that Uecker has lost a step or two in the booth in recent years, but I'd still rather listen to a game he's calling than not. I find that I can't tell the difference between Levering and Grindl...their voices are so similar. I really like Levering, much more than Joe Block, and hope he sticks around long enough to see Uecker retire for good because I think he'd do a pretty good job.
  20. This is precisely why I bring my own when I can.
  21. I believe it was 2011 and the Brewers were going into a series vs. the Cardinals in August. The Brewers were a couple games up, but there were no highlights of the first game of the series which the Brewers won; there was a graphic at the end of the sports broadcast, that's it. What got all the play? Packers and high school football, mainly a lengthy story about Columbus High School football. I believe this was Channel 3 in Madison.
  22. I am entering my 9th year as a teacher, and I saw a job posting at the high school in the city I live in that I would like to apply to. The application requires me to submit three letters of recommendation from supervisors/administrators. How do I go about asking for these letters? I have only worked at one school, but I know a couple of administrators that moved to other districts. Do I ask them for letters? I don't have a lot of options available.
  23. Our house is 34 years old and is at the point where major systems are needing replaced. In the past two years, we've had to replace our washer/dryer, water softener, microwave, dishwasher, and fireplace, and we've had to have the torsion springs on our garage door replaced, need a new front door because is is incredibly drafty, and now we're going to need a new AC in the next year or two. This is on top of windows and a roof we had redone 7 years ago. It's been tough on the bank account, that's for sure.
  24. I go golfing largely for the quietness. It's the one place I go and my head is completely cleared of anything other than golf and its amazing. I don't want to hear music or any other sound that is not natural to a golf course while I'm golfing because it defeats the purpose of being there in the first place.
