  1. Somewhere Dave Steib is smiling...
  2. I never liked the Warriors more....
  3. Pitchers Great against lefties are not a dime a dozen....
  4. The Brewers are 5-0 in games I’ve attended this year. That streak could be in jeopardy tomorrow. I have a 9 game win streak going in games that I've attended. 5 from July- Sept 2018 1 playoff NLDS Oct 2018 3 from 2019 My next game is June 5 against the Marlins.
  5. It is. Thanks all for the clarification....
  6. Maybe Cain and his contact would make sense at 5 or 6 in the order. Timely Contact gets us a go ahead run there probably. If Hiura can flirt with .300, they could flip the two in the order.
  7. The .107 is probably from his September call-up in 2014.
  8. https://legacy.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/national-league-central/milwaukee-brewers/ Cott's has him at 4.107 years from the beginning of the season, I believe. Also, that is not equivalent to 4 years and 107 days. I think it is just the decimal for the fraction of the season. For instance, if someone else is sent down midseason, my guess is that he would have .5 service years at the end of the year assuming he was up at season's beginning. So if a season is six months plus long, each month would be roughly .16 of a service year. Three weeks would roughly be .12 or so, which would be enough time down to give keep Jimmy under 5 years of service at season's end. That would make 2021, not 2020, his last year controlled by the Brewers since FA is granted after 6 complete service years (6.0) in MLB. So..... my guess is this is the mule driving the cart. It makes sense for the Brewers to send him down now, and it makes sense that Nelson is a little confused with his recent move to AAA.
  9. As of now, he is RIGHT NOW -May 24- around 4.3 years of MLB service. If he is at AAA for about three weeks, the Brewers will get another year of control, correct? He would be under control through 2021. Pretty significant.
  10. Is Nelson racking up MLB service time with him being on the disabled list last yeAr and this year? Or doesn't the time count for some reason? He was hurt while in the majors so my guess is that he'll be a free agent after next year.
  11. How VanVleet was given so many wide open shots in half court play, I'll never know. After two or three, you can't leave him alone. We had guards leaving him when 34 was in the lane contesting. Crazy nuts..
  12. Why can't we just go with 12 pitchers? We flip enough fresh pitchers during the season between AAA and MLB that this should be a viable option for a small portion of the schedule.
  13. You want to end tanking, which many view as a negative, my way is a possible way. A few more points... - The 76ers way stops. Big markets can't tank and use both their advantage in financial resources AND high picks together. It will still happen of course in a given year, but now it will be much more random. Potential tankers for multiple years cannot plan on getting top 5 picks every year. - Sure teams can still trade away players, clearing cap space for top FA's the following year(s). So be it. Yet, the incentive to do so isn't as great when a usetobe certain top 5 pick isn't there with it. - The quality of play and product on the floor will not go down (as much) when teams are out of contention. Sure, Lebron still would not have played this season at year's end for possible injury concerns, but most teams could continue on trying to win games like usual with no ulterior motive to do nothing but trying to get better. - Fans could simply hope that their team wins instead of hoping their team loses the last week of the year for a slight better chance at #1-3 picks. I probably should have lead with this. - Small markets and mid markets could get that top pick to push them further in the playoffs or conference finals. How many times have we seen the Bucks show potential and get that #8 seed or just miss the playoffs? They are in no man's land, not good enough to really compete for a title and not poor enough to get a high pick. This new way would at least give them a shot to infuse more great talent to a middling team who cannot get a top FA. Big markets would get this too, sure. Yet maybe that's a good thing to get a greater variety of teams in the upper tier of the playoffs.
  14. He's still good.... really good. Definitely not showing it now, but baseball is a great game of redemption. I think we'll see his 2018 self more as the season moves along..... just throws too hard with secondary stuff.
  15. He can. Yet, he probably is not the MVP yet, sitting at runner up at the moment.
  16. Huh? You don't know much about the quality fans on this site, most of the time posting when the team didn't have much hope for playoffs... terribly and shamefully inaccurate.
  17. In that system you still have several teams with literally zero to play for after the first half of the season. There will be teams that won't have the talent to make the playoffs and no way to impact (good or bad) their ability to get better through the draft. Exactly. They simply try to win as much as they can and get in the playoffs. When they are out of the running, play younger players and simply try to get better, no strings attached. Also, your comment "no way to impact good or bad their ability to get better through the draft"..... If they have a losing record, they still will likely have a better pick than most teams. Also, what is the good or bad way to affect draft position in the draft? The bad way is to play your worst players and tank to get a better pick, I reckon. It still happens. The good way is what? Win and have a worse pick?
  18. I think my way would end tanking immediately.
  19. -Anyone in the lottery (and the #7 and #8 teams in playoffs) should have equal chance of landing the #1 through #5 picks. - If you land a top 5 pick, you are not eligible to get a top 5 the following year. - If you land the #1 pick, you are not eligible for the top pick for five years. - After the top 5 are picked, win/loss record from the first half of the season determines the rest of the lottery picks. Tanking dead.
  20. Moose has intangibles outside of the stats. He seems to be able to hit tougher pitching, as well.... not sure if stats back that up. If he keeps this up, I would be interested in 2 or 3 more years of Moose.
  21. Oh, I agree. Yet, I assumed economics is why Keaton hasn't been with us in May.
  22. So are the Brewers going to need to send him down at some point to get another year of pre-arby from him? The talk just recently was that he needed a week or two yet.
  23. I don't mind a throw to 1st base. Pitchers have to be able to hold runners. If they can't check or hold runners, runners would steal bases with impunity. They could still throw over. It would just be more of an event when they would, and there would be a negative attached to slowing down the game. The three batter limit per pitcher is fine too. I'll welcome that one next year. Also, how about the incoming relief pitcher has to walk hand in hand with the manager when he enters the game. Those pitching changes get to me... should be a quicker way to do it.
  24. If you want games to go faster, each throw over or step off is a ball. (Not 4th ball, though) There would be more action with few throws over and more running on the bases.
