  1. We really don't want all our top relievers pitching tomorrow with 3 against the Cubs coming up, do we?
  2. Who was pitching the 9th? That guy, whomever it was, should have been pitching when things got hot in the 8th.... Jeffress and Hader had to have been shut down. Huge mystery who was getting the save opp if we had the lead in the 9th.
  3. Why didn't we claim Gio? Read somewhere that he passed thru waivers. If he was on the Brewers radar, why not claim him and try to get a deal done?
  4. Up 2.5 games in WC...
  5. Are you sure? Read that Nationals received the slot money.... https://www.yahoo.com/news/brewers-veteran-lefty-gonzalez-trade-nats-030434418--spt.html
  6. Even with Gio, I'd like to see Burnes stretched out for possible starts or long relief work.
  7. First and foremost, the Brewers need SP help. Trotting Guerra out there for another five starts in September scares me. Second, Burnes is one of the team's best pitchers as of right.............now. Get innings out of him. Third, we just traded for another arm for the pen and a half dozen more are presumably on their way soon from the minors in early September. His bullpen role can be filled somewhat with multiple arms. Fourth, his innings are down somewhat because of his usage in the pen. He is a young horse that should have something left in the tank in the fall. Finally, I'm all for giving Davies a shot too. But after that, I don't want Wilkerson or some other fringe MLBer starting meaningful games in September. And forget about the Penny Wholestaff going for a couple games like they did last season, starting Jeffress and what not. Blowing up the bullpen and relying on any of the starters to go 7 is risky business. Hoping Guerra turns it around is another pipe dream. All for giving Burnes a shot before any other of the SP backup plans.....I feel Burnes could usually go 5 plus IP and give up 2 or less. Time will tell.
  8. If it was in the strike zone and the batter does the same thing, the ump calls him out on strikes. Self defense was the issue, in my mind, and the ump gave him the benefit of the doubt. My opinion on this continues to evolve.
  9. Without knowing the Rule, two hands on bat in bunting stance, with knee on ground, should be a Bunt attempt no matter what his intentions were.... if the Rule says otherwise, the Rule should be changed.
  10. The Red squares to Bunt, and this is key... pulls back, yet it hits his bat for a foul and presumably the third strike. I believe the umps were saying that he did not INTeND to offer and that is why he was allowed to continue the at bat. Does anyone know the Rule? He squared, but he definetely didn't want to make contact with that one. Does intention count? Looks like he tried to get out of the way more than anything, but he was in bunting stance when contact was made.
  11. Does anyone know the reason why the schedule was released in August instead of Sept., like usual? Probably want extra time in Sept. to prep for all those playoff games, right?
  12. 100% agree with the first impression thing... Schoop is here for the Cubs and the lefty starters. I will reserve judgement until he faces the Cubs starters in Sept (and Oct?). He had one of the best OPS in baseball last season against lefties, and I like the idea of him facing not terribly overpowering lefties. For sanity purposes, I say his best is yet to come.
  13. Prime candidate for a trade in a down year....... 2021 or 2022. The win window is open for three or four years. I can't see the Crew re-signing another OF in their 30's for top $.
  14. I expect them to be in the playoff mix this year and next, making it this year or next.
  15. You talkin the whole organization? Yelich almost straight up would get him, considering contract over the next 4 plus years. Minors? Sure
  16. CC says Peralta's innings haven't been discussed yet. Really? It is a huge issue if he is our best pitcher come late September/early August.
  17. Still think it's about getting a righty bat at one of our weak spots for the lefty SP Cubs.... not many were better against lefties last season.
  18. Often the usuals aren't out there.
  19. Nobody knows...... including the writers who give us the same waivers thing yearly, I gather.
  20. He's signed for next year. No way the team cuts him. He is the mop up guy or he will be on the DL again. September is close, and he could be hidden on the roster then.
  21. We get the same waiver wire rules info and review each August. How about a little more depth to how these proceedings work? Anyone with this knowledge please pipe in.... Are the waiver wires similar to fantasy football? There you can see all the guys that are out there on waivers and any Owner from the league can put in a blind claim. You could put a claim in for three guys with the hope of getting one.... or you could end up with three. After the initial claim period is up (2 days?), the player goes to the team with the worst record (own league first). Or is it a new daily list of new waiver guys each day that goes from team to team (same league worst record to best and then other league) where some teams don't even know a player is on waivers because he was claimed earlier by another team? This would take away the gamble of putting in multiple claims and getting multiple players. My guess is that it is not like this since a team gets some time (2 days?) to think about making a claim or not, correct? Finally Are the standings (waiver wire claim order) taken from when a player is PUT ON waivers or when his waiver wire claim period is up? This could make a big difference in getting a player in a hotly competitive Wild Card race.
  22. The only question is would the Dodgers claim him. They are the only team he would go to while the Brewers are in a pennant race of their own. There could be real drama in August if we hear that claim happening.....
