  1. How does it work GM? My opinion is that the Marlins might be gun shy dealing with the Brewers so soon after a trade with not the best results on 3 of the 4 prospects (yet).... human nature. If you would have said "might" in your original post, it would make more sense. But you didn't, and your post sounded definitive. And it brought the response that it did because GMs don't operate that way. The only time to see anything like that happen is if a team pulls something shady, like what Alderson did with the Mets in the Gomez deal a few years ago. "GMs don't operate that way" sounds definitive. Can you name any two blockbuster deals by the same GMs in a 7 month window?

  3. You’re calling a trade for 4 prospects a win/loss after 4 months? Lol Did I call this a win long term? Just might be gun shy short term. Keep laughing.
  4. As of now, he was fleeced. He probably has to be blown away by an offer from the Brewers or he'll steer clear
  5. Marlins aren't dealing with the Brewers so soon after the Yelich trade....
  6. Relatively no risk. If it blows up, we have a deeper 1B/3B situation and bench.
  7. B With what is being reported as available (no deGrom, Syndegaard), it has to be B. We aren't losing top guys for players we don't have full confidence in, and we aren't standing pat. I like the idea of adding Harvey. He was a TOR guy not so long ago, and he is hitting upper 90's again, pitching well. Also, why do I get the feeling Ray is going elsewhere soon? Oddly, I really want to keep him, even though he is blocked a bit.
  8. Exaggerated Hypothetical- If we could get Harper for peanuts, but he had to play half the game at SS, would you do it? My guess is that we all would, that his Aug/Sept batting stats would more than offset his d, and that we switch him to the OF come late in the game. Same with Shaw to a certain extent...
  9. Can we just say that this humor is either funny or not funny and be done? My view is that it was never clever or funny. To continue to go to this dry well must mean that some people actually think it is STILL clever and funny. Again, if Shaw begins the game at 2nd, it does not mean he is going to end the game there. Some are locked into this belief. Our SP comes out in the 5th or 6th usually, and rotations can start there. Often a double shift or two is made during this time frame, as well. That's like 17 outs or so. Half of those outs happen when there isn't anyone on 1st base. A few more happen when the shift is on a lefty and Shaw isn't turning two. We're talking about a handful of outs that are up for grabs for him possibly turning two, and these are coming early in games. He can play closer to the bag then, which makes the turn three times easier. There are ways to make this work. Is it wise to do the entire game, especially in close games? Probably not. I can't see this happening, though. And as others have pointed out, more Ks in the game (most will be this season) lead to less opportunities in the field. The risk of putting below avg fielding players in positions, other than catcher, is less than ever before. Also, I'm fairly certain Moose or Shaw is not going to start every game at 2B, especially against lefties.
  10. Harvey is the choice for me. He won't cost a lot, presumably, and he is pitching well. The team has many options to start next season, including TOR guys like Nelson and Burnes.
  11. Another good reliever could be picked up in August for peanuts. Give Burnes a shot. He struggles, then move him to the pen in September.
  12. I expect him to pitch, whether it's in the pen or start. That's a low bar since we were told June ish. If not, so be it, but I will be disappointed..... sliding into first. Irritating.
  13. I like him, but he misses a lot for our usual guy. This year is like school with rotating teachers and subs... the normals, LePay, Cushon, Augie, FS1, Facebook too. Also, any time the game gets long, his tone reminds me that he wants the game to end, regardless of score. Obvious. He should be the guy that wants the game to go four hours, if anyone would. My guess is that he would rather have the Brewers lose in 2 and a half hours than have them win in 4 hours.
  14. Moose Haas started Game 4 (down 2 games to 1) of the ALCS in 82.... hadn't pitched like in 6 weeks. Ballsy. Brewers won. Starting Nelson in September is risky, but worth it you'd have to believe. Unless we pick up two starters in the next month and a few days, we'll need him.
  15. He can hit .220 if he hits for some power. No thanks when he barely can get it to leave the infield. Long term .220 is not going to cut it. On this team, if it is contact with the .220, I'll take it.
  16. When was a ball EVeR tried to be picked up bare-handed and called an error? In baseball, that's a hit every time.
  17. This is true.... if he pitches well or even ok, they'll skip him. If he stinks it up, he'll be gone and serve as a sub, starting in AAA. I'm not sold on a healthy Guerra or good Miley yet. Just get a SP with a good track record and I'd feel a whole lot more comfortable. Burnes back in the rotation come Sept. seems like a better move all the time. Send him down and stretch him out.

  19. Harrison is Marlins' #1 prospect, according to Pipeline..... 163 Ks in 386 AB... WOW! Hitting 236
  20. Yamamoto doing well..... promoted to AA a little while back.
  21. Are we making a run at deGrom? Shaw, Santana, Peralta??? What we've read.... Stearns wants a guy that leads this rotation (now and near future) Mets want to be competitive next year (not a full rebuild) Brewers were at least thinking sign Moose and flip Shaw (to possibly Mets) Rozier/Shoop still out there for 2B Stearns has a couple moves still in him
  22. He'll get at least one SP.
