  1. It will play itself out I’d like to believe. The better players will ultimately play and play more. However, on the other hand, when Cutch gets ridiculous ABs against righties last year, really wasted ABs, it is a fair point of concern who gets the early looks in April and May.
  2. It’s the old and original ball and glove ( and yes, bat) logo that he is wearing. It is not current. The team does not play games anymore with that logo.
  3. I don’t agree with this line of thinking either… Just getting to the playoffs, year in and year out, favors the high payroll teams. And it usually isn’t even close… the top half payroll teams dominate over the bottom half. And I think the teams actually in the playoffs, and only those teams mind you, have a “random” opportunity to win it all. You need a bunch of stats to argue that more money doesn’t “guarantee” a WS title? No one ever believed that. More money and ultimately better proven players usually improve your odds, of course.
  4. How is it worst in location and accessibility? I view it as one of the best…. Off an interstate, plenty of parking, and one of the best places to tailgate. If you are looking for other things beside a baseball game, as in more entertainment or restaurants nearby, sure.
  5. When Counsell walked in… about 10 minutes before meal started with prayer….about 30 people approached him for pictures or autographs. I thought it was a bit tacky. The guy would have sat at his table to socialize with others and relax. So no, an autograph session was not planned, but, yes, CC did take autographs and pictures with fans.
  6. Anyone in Appleton last night at the Timber Rattlers to hear Counsell speak? I was. Nice meal and talk with Counsell and Matt Erickson….. Hot Stove Banquet in the Fox Cities Club.
  7. We wanted him in September, though…. with playoffs on the line.
  8. Figured the Miley signing was insurance for their rotation, but it also is allowing them to shop Lauer and Houser. If a good deal is there for one of them and change, they can now make it. Before, they could not knowing how their rotation was affected by injuries in 2022.
  9. Yep, get rid of Cutch. Sure, good call. We gladly aren't resigning him this year. Why, again? Don't call up Mitchell. It surprised everyone that this happened, remember? Call up the perceived better talent and bat. If they weren't going to play Hiura regularly (and they rarely did last year), get him out of there so a ROY candidate in 2023 can hit while he's hot in 2022. Or carry 15 postion players and 13 pitchers. The limit was 14 pitchers in September, not 14 hitters. Man, tons of options! I don't know why they wouldn't at least give him a shot while the offense struggled. Let the perceived great talent play. Lots of options.
  10. Actually it’s 0 percent that Frelick’s numbers would be better than Mitchell’s…. Can’t show what he can do when he doesn’t get a chance. And the opportunity was there for him to get at bats at DH or OF, even WITH Mitchell up. Cutch played in an insane amount of games and inexcusably played against right handed pitching late in the season. Others could have sat an extra day or two a week too. Again, I think it be crazy to have many talk so highly about him in January when in September he coulda shoulda been up when our hitting in general, OF hitting, and DH hitters especially, were suspect.
  11. Not good enough to hit DH or play some OF for us late last year, though. Keep him in the minors. I think he got the shaft big time last year when he wasn’t called up and Mitchell was. If he is so good now, what changed between this fall and January? From not good enough to get called up to ROY candidate? Just ticks me off… I think we were in a playoff race too and would have benefited from a good bat I’m fairly sure.
  12. Lions played like this was their Super Bowl. Them winning to close out and being done with their season seemed more to them than us winning and facing the 49ers….. as a fan I’m not all that disappointed either. Disappointed, sure, but yeah, this one is not a shocker.
  13. We led the league in blown saves after July 31, correct? Our bullpen was in shambles. Roles were not defined. We would have likely made the playoffs with Hader. Our 2022 woulda coulda shoulda been better with Hader on the team. However, the Contreras trade changed a lot of the narrative going forward. If we have an All Star caliber catcher over the next five plus seasons, then we all will be happy with the trade return.
  14. Good. Still could be a Sheffield, but chances are even lower now… from .01% to .0001%
  15. Brewers have upside this year and I think MA is aware… 1. The many promising and young outfielders, with one or two hopefully playing well, should be an upgrade even with the loss of Renfroe. 2. DH should be better. They have the great Winker who, although over 200 points lower in OPS against righties than the lowly Hiura, could bounce back to being a well-above avg hitter and needed DH for us after the crazy decision of CC to simply let Cutch play and hit throughout the season, regardless of outcomes. Hiura and his .866 OPS against RHP is still here too. Contreras will get swings at DH too. 3. And speaking of him, We have an All Star catcher! And is young, cheap, and controllable for five years. His defense is meh, but even that could be improved upon considering age and coaching. 4. About no one had a better 2022 than 2021. Maybe Wong or Renfroe… Yelich? Our SP all were worse, injured more, or both. Bullpen was waaay worse last year than 2022 and we still almost got in the playoffs. Even if a couple/few of our starting pitchers have bounce back years, that should make up several games in the win column right there.
  16. Besides cleaning up after the parade downtown? I think Hader would be traded this offseason, as most believed he would be.
  17. I agree. He had his role here and pitched well at times, but he was 11th or 12th best pitcher on the team continually. More craziness…. Lamet is now making 5 million in 2023. He was not wanted by Crew during stretch drive in 2022. Suter was taken over him not only in 2022 but also really an opportunity to sign Lamet thru arby in 2023. In essence, would have rather had Suter for August and September of 2022 than have a, I think widely assumed, better pitcher in 2022 for the stretch run and have him on a reasonable contract in 2023 (if we wanted him).
  18. Extending Urias might be the best idea…. https://www.brewcrewball.com/2022/11/28/23482523/brewers-might-want-to-consider-an-extension-with-luis-urias-this
  19. Next offseason probably a good time to talk… maybe 6 for 35 to 40 mil would be a better deal then.
  20. 23-1 mill 24-3 mill 25-5 mill 26- 7 mill 27-10 mil 28-14 mil (Ages 25-29).., seems high; almost would be better to go thru arby. Then again… Realmuto signed a 5 year 115mil deal for ages 30-34 Murphy 6 yr 73 mill for ages 7th year club option for 15 mill (ages 28-33)
  21. And the price goes up with another really good season… if we can get him at 6 for 40 now, it would be tempting to do it.
  22. A lot of planning and long-term strategy? This will help overcome being a small market and not being a AAAA team? I have no idea what this means. Better to say the following…. 1 Brew have to identify Star core players early and sign them to team friendly deals. Developing and trading for great young players is more important to us than anyone. Getting a Contreras and good rookies to compete for starting positions should be a yearly thing. 2. They also need to make great trades that will help replenish the system when not contending and timely trades when we are contending. Pretty much opposite of the morale killing Hader trade to players and fans. 3. Team has to be willing to take a step back to move a couple ahead. Meaning, we cannot expect to compete yearly. Just getting harder and harder with crazy money out there for multiple NL teams. What the team has done over the last six years has truly been amazing, but sustaining this seems impossible.
