  1. Player? Not close, Sure. Not many can play SS well. Hitter? Well, it was pretty close last year one way or another.
  2. The whole “he can’t hit” thing is just off. He can’t field, sure. With our unsettled player at DH last year, it should have been an easy “let Hiura bat DH against righties”… bat him low in the lineup and let him produce. He was off the charts good most of the year against righties, better than almost anyone in baseball. Yet, we wanted Cutch to get his at bats for some reason. And yes again, his overall OPS was better than our #2 hitter. Some surely do not like that stat. It doesn’t fit their take on Hiura.
  3. Better OPS than Adames, even with the misuse and Adames hitting #2 all year.
  4. Agree… especially when running it on 3rd.
  5. Cost controlled? Sure. But Wildly irresponsible, and expensive spending with our apparent payroll, of course.
  6. Better OPS than Adames in 2022… our star #2 hitter who we could not afford having out of that #2 spot. And this is with jerking Hiura around positions, spot batting for large stretches against lefties instead of righties whom he destroyed last year, and then put up and down from AAA, and having desserts of playing time sitting for 4 or 5 days and getting a spot start or pinch hit. Total and complete mismanagement so Cutch can hit and underachieve pretty much all year. Just playing him regularly last year, batting him low in lineup as a DH, giving him at bats instead of Cutch gets us in the playoffs imho.
  7. Terrible for small markets in a cap less game. Yuck is right. Arbitration will go thru the roof too if Rogers is getting 11 million.
  8. There is a Hot Stove Banquet in Appleton in January… Counsell and Gorman are speaking, relatively cheap with meal. Up our alleys… https://www.milb.com/wisconsin/news/2023-timber-rattlers-hot-stove
  9. His overall OPS was better than our star shortstop batting #2 all year. Just get Clutch his at bats was the motto. It didn’t really matter what Hiura did. Still. If only there was a DH in the National League…
  10. Three? Panning out… does that mean a decent starter? If so, I would be thrilled with two being worthy starters or fringe All Stars. I think the Brewers would be happy with that, but then again that could short change Chourio somewhat considering all the hype. Still think the Brewers take that…
  11. Future injury is the reason for the extension with some players. If Woodruff could get $130- $150 million for 6 years now from Brewers now instead of risking injury and getiing more in two years, I would not blame him at all. It is Guaranteed money in baseball. I don’t blame Peralta or Ashby either for a smaller amount. Life changing money.
  12. It will take a WS appearance/win to get enough momentum to have it back seemingly. Then again, the big news in Winter 2024 and 2025 will be the exodus of most of our starting pitching staff. Doubt it’s happening any time soon.
  13. Ruiz obviously holds high vale to the A’s. Kudos to the Brewers for uncovering this fact.
  14. Or even the events like Fanfest at Miller Park followed by an exhibition game.
  15. Covid was basically a reason to blow it up, it seems. Public access to players has gotten far less over the years. Remember the block parties?
  16. Good article… Contreras a bit of a whiffer to be kind. Defense still suspect, but CBS still gives Brewers A (Braves- A and Oakland-F) https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/sean-murphy-trade-braves-land-catcher-from-as-in-three-team-deal-brewers-get-william-contreras/
  17. When hated Hiura has a better OPS than this guy this year, I think that is reason enough to tap those brakes and not shell out ridiculous money to this guy.
  18. All Star catcher. Five years of control. Position of great need. Traded from area of great strength. And two young pitchers for more depth in pen ta boot. I have been negative on this team for 5 months and for good reason, but this take is absolutely ridiculous. Hip hip hooray…
  19. Now we are getting somewhere... a little hope.
  20. The troubling part is that we seem to not add lately but subtract. In this window of having great starting pitchers, capitalizing on this paramount.. Even this year thus far and it hasn’t started yet…. We are not adding these highly ranked prospects either with our trades for future seasons. Marginal players. I agree that the Brewers have the deck stacked against them with all this money everywhere. We have been overachieving since 2017, when we also barely missed the playoffs. Agreed. Still disappointing…missing opportunities, I feel.
  21. Well, it opens a hole at 2B for now. The two in return were also bad last year so that is underwhelming. If we don’t trade Wong, he is at least adequate or roughly an avg mlb second baseman. Solid and consistent… we need some more consistency in a looks like young lineup. Renfroe… right. Just keep him for a year and let him walk. Good not great bat…especially for lefties. I guess the trade brought depth to the bullpen. I guess.
  22. Escobar was a nice add. I forgot about him. That was a positive.
  23. I disagree. I bring up the whole pattern of the Brewers not adding/helping the major league team over the last half season and really each deadline since 2020….the last three. And you say it is dead. I do not. I need to see change where we actually are helping the mlb team otherwise I continue to be ticked. Sign or trade for some good mlb players, not minor league projects or bounce back candidates. If we are trying to compete this year, that HAS TO HAPPEN. We will see.
  24. And yet again you hall monitor and add nothing. I feel like I need to apologize for being negative about the team. Sorry. You seem to need everyone to be positive. Yes, it’s Hader and pretty much every move since then. Bush, Rosenthal, releasing Lamet, keeping Suter for the stretch drive instead of Lamet. It’s also the lack of adding any significant or even insignificant bat at the past few deadlines. And to the current post, it’s them preaching how we are keeping our core three when all three of them are likely traded and not extended within a year and a half, regardless of how well we are playing. And the returns of the trades with Renfroe and Wong were very underwhelming to me. It looks like we badly need to cut payroll when I think most fans would like the team to add to it for a couple of seasons IF we are actually trying to make a legitimate push to win the division and advance in the playoffs with a couple of aces in our pocket. Hoping for some good transactions in the next few months. We’ll see. Getting a solid catcher would be great and an everyday infielder somewhere that can hit dare I say above .260 with a .780+ OPS would be nice. I really want to be positive about the team, but I just don’t see the positive now.
