  1. I'm not seeing any upside here. Civale provided starting pitching depth. And if there is no money to be saved? Vaughn and his salary won't be picked up next year and I can't see him playing MLB this season. Must have been a much bigger issue in the clubhouse than what's being reported.
  2. Ricky Vaughn has all 3 options left according to Fangrapks...likely viewed as a possible poor man's replacement for Hoskins next year...in his 5th year....if he is sent to AAA we have him for 2026/2027.
  3. Right as in moral? Sure. It isn't a sin to asked to be moved to another team. Right as in player's right to do under his contract/CBA? Sure again..he is allowed to ask for a trade. Right as in player/team code of etiquette? Probably not good to do it publicly and in the midst of a pennant race. Managers/Gms want no distractions and everyone pulling in the same direction. Teams like Milwaukee really value that positive team culture in the clubhouse. Asking out is not a good look no matter how good he thinks he is. Right now, he is pitching like our 6th or 7th best starter. And Henderson is really the guy getting shortchanged now, not Civale.
  4. Murphy probably could have avoided this all by just saying 6 man rotation....and skipping starts of Civale and the young guys from time to time to limit innings. That would have made sense to most. He'll seemingly have to do this with Patrick/Priester/Miz down the line anyways. Tact.
  5. I see Civale as a tough guy to trade IF we do not want to eat his salary. If we have to eat 4 million plus and receive little in return, then just keep him as insurance. I get why he is frustrated....I did not think he pitched terribly. I liked having him in the rotation, actually. But Henderson is likely coming up again to spot start or pitch out of the bullpen again....he's been better. And I would put the Ps, Peralta, Priester, and Patrick ahead of Civale now too....and the Miz.
  6. Glad we are doing this type of trade to address rotation. We cannot keep top veteran starters after 6-7years, cannot bid on top FA pitchers, and should not give long contracts early to good but injury prone starters unless getting a Peralta like special. Well worth the risk. Needed.
  7. Now this line backer….they can put Woodruff off until July.
  8. We have tons of trade able assets…seemingly! Packaging some of these for actual needs at MLB 3B, for instance, makes too much sense to be delayed much longer. Being deep is one thing, and boy are the Brewers deep. But keeping some really good prospects at stacked positions doesn’t add up. Take SS for instance…. Ortiz is not doing well, but you have Turang that COULD slide over easily. And then you have the most talented trio of SS in minor league baseball in Pratt, Made, and Peña. I know they could slide to 2B or 3B, but one could or even should be moved or packaged to address needs at the major league level. And you could do the same with the starters….seemingly.
  9. A few more takes and jabs… The Brewers are totally delaying bringing Woodruff up….they know they remarkably have better options. Has anyone been nursed back from injury in such a long drawn out way before in Brewers history? Especially a SP making $18 mill? I know he needs time to throw after major shoulder surgery, but they are seemingly gladly delaying this out. No rush. No hurry. Maybe even no need? Again, the only way I see this deal being worthwhile is if he wins a playoff game as a starter. Crazy use of money for a small market team…huge risk. Brewers have to be ecstatic to have Hall AND, wow and Ashby throwing middle relief again. Multiple innings, 2 lefty options at lefty hitters in middle inning rally times. Just so wow to have that to pair with the back of our pen. Trading a starter or two is not out of the question in order to get a veteran 3B bat. Teams falling out of contention looking to restock arms deals veteran bat…..seems about right. And Hiura got a hit tonight…..no surprise. 😳
  10. Oh, he will be missed…friendliest guy. Great usher, took his job seriously. Fist bumps often on greeting and leaving. Hope to see him around the ballpark again someday….maybe sitting in his old sections.
  11. Glad we don’t have that contract for any length of time and of course his best numbers are behind him, offense and especially defense.
  12. Answering my own question…2008 they were around 33,000 a night in April/ May. Weekend crowds were sellouts or close.
  13. Chourio is the guy and he is arguably hitting better than last year at this time….wasnt he like around .210 at end of May last year. After that he was one of the top 10 hitters in the game. It’s spring. Brewers don’t avg 30,000 a night then. Did they avg 30,000 in April/May in 2008, 2009, and 2011 (3 million fan years)? Price is keeping me home a bit more, yet I have been to 3 games. I think we should be 2.5/2.6 mill again.
  14. Stay a little above .500 and teams are players in the 2nd half. Those 3 Wild Card teams keep so many teams in it….when there was only 1 WC team, not so much. NFL preseason games in August usually meant hopes had vanished for middling teams. Now get hot in September could mean that third WC.
  15. Glad we did not spend on Adames…having awful year.
  16. Give the idiots credit. Talking to a Cubs fan on a plane, he said so many more Brewers fans in Wrigley last few years. Nothing like this though. 60-70%?
  17. Woodruff cannot stop talkin…muted a couple times…..just awful way to spend $18 million. Maybe he can get thru his 5th and 6th minor league outing and can maybe go 4 innings in June.
  18. No issue with Alexander opening. No issue with Murphy at all. Just losing now...still good group,, gamers. Easy to be hopeless down big, but I see promise everywhere especially with a dozen guys getting healthy eventually this season.
  19. Feel Brewers are still a good team….loaded with potential with guys getting healthy and young guys almost here…Pratt, Miz. We have played two more road games than home and we are 2 games under….nothing great so far, but not bad for playing uninspired ball as a whole. “Gray skies are gonna clear up….put on a ..”
  20. Huge mistake by Giants….cost them two runs.
  21. Offense B Enough bright spots and health to be encouraged. Defense C Not that they are making errors all over the place, but the good/great plays are not close to last year’s pace. Rotation B+ For as good as it has been with all the injuries and now rookies throwing, it has been quite something, we are not getting deep in games and rely on our deep pen maybe more than any other team. Can’t give an A because of it, but the group has been a surprisingly monster success. Bullpen B+ Lots of quality innings with a few duds…our top 6 have been very good. Coaching A- Few issues that I lay awake about….love the bunting. Not a fan of Frelick hitting 5 or 6….rather have a little more pop there. I would throw a few less pitchers in some games. No pitcher hitting really allows you to get a third or two thirds more of an inning out of a guy. Throwing 5 or 6 pitchers in a close loss really hurts when off days are missing. Front Office B The injuries have tested our depth and FO decision making abilities. I can’t believe how good the rotation has been….guys that have been brought up have been great. And the Priester trade looks good now. I like most thought 3B as a hole and it is a big question mark this year and especially the next few. Durbin should be better offensively. Minors B Nice to have a few potential upgrades waiting in the wings, even with some hurt or struggling in April. MVP Freddy/Frelick Disappointment… Mitchell I still expect him to do better. Yet, he likely gets hurt, as well. Surprise…Patrick
  22. Reminds me of a game 10 years ago or so….Brewers up 5-0 in 9th in Arizona…and give up like 7 or 8 straight hits without getting an out and lost. seems like this should be a playoff game.
  23. And 18 in last 7….. I am not in the camp of best overall starting staff in NLCentral including our injuries, especially if you consider Ashby/Hall/Woodruff cannot be expected to pitch 5 plus innings. We are hanging on for dear life in April. Sp all hurt. I also cringe at what the staff will look like in 2026. However, Misiorowski/Myers/Priester could change my mind quickly. Yet….we are loaded in minors and loaded with stars here….Chourio, Contreras, Yelich. And plenty of young supporting cast types. With upside in Turang, Mitchell, and Frelick.
