  1. According to MLBtraderumors.com, Aumont and Michael Taylor form Philly is the beginning of the horde going to Toronto.
  2. I'm just stunned. Is Seattle that full of prospects or did Philly throw a pitcher Toronto's way too? Outside of Hernendez, I'm not sure who could be in this deal.
  3. They traded Jones last year for Bedard. Sorry. I knew that.
  4. Who does Seattle have that would make this deal work? I don't see them dealing Adam Jones, but who knows? Would be a major coup for Toronto to get a cheap All Star centerfielder for one year of Halladay.
  5. Sheets says he wants the same amount he got in 2008. 12mil. Hello?? This just goes to show how disconnected some people are from reality. Does Sheets not know that the economy is in the tank? He'll be lucky to find someone to give him half that. Harden got 7.5 and I thought that was a stretch, considering he got pulled out of games in the fourth inning due to high pitch counts. No way Sheets gets more than that.
  6. Good signing. A good lefty is essential against teams like Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Philly, Atlanta. People that say this is like a Suppan signing. They are crazy. Suppan was never the second best free agent pitcher. The money was more plentiful for all teams in 2006. Wolf Would've got 4/60 if this were 2006.
  7. With Pavano accepting arbitration doesn't that in essence knock them out of the Washburn sweepstakes? Personally, if the Brewers were to get Wolf, I'd like to see a trade for a younger guy like McCarthy or perhaps see them go for a Scott Olsen either by trade or if the Nats non-tender him. If they got Davis and/Washburn in addition to Wolf, I'm okay with that too. But I think they'd have to non tender Bush to fit both in. Nobody has talked about Jon Garland, but I wouldn't mind him either. actually, if they have to non-tender bush to sign davis and washburn in addition to wolf, i would be very against it. bush isn't great, but he's better than either davis or washburn. right now, without signing anyone, bush is the second best we got. with signing wolf, he's the third best. with signing davis and washburn, he's still the third best. There is no way Bush is better than Davis and Washburn. He does look great sometimes, but he can be downright awful. The Brewers were thinking about non-tendering Bush, knowing he'll only make about 4.5mil this year. So not only do they think he isn't that good, neither do other teams. Because Melvin's phone would be ringing off the hook if anybody thought a good pitcher that makes about 4.5 mil, for one year, is available.
  8. Look at Granderson's numbers compared to Melky Cabrera's. Keeping Cabrera and signing Damon for seven million would be a cheaper, wiser move. Tying the Yanks into a longer, more expensive contract while dealing your top prospect? Nice move Cashman. The DBacks give up a promising pitcher they control for 5 years for Jackson. Makes no sense.
  9. Think we could get either of these guys for 3 mil and then platoon him with Hart? Would end up being a 8 million dollar platoon, but could be very effective.
  10. So, you actually think that Livan Hernandez is almost as good as Randy Wolf? Couldn't we afford Livan after we snag Wolf? And BTW, you are comparing Wolf's numbers when he was injured to Suppan's at his peak.
  11. I could see Gamel in LF, Gomez in Center, and Braun in Right. Maybe we traded for Gomez knowing he will have to cover extra ground. That guy has crazy range in center. I think this is a great idea. If we can get one starter from a trade and one free agent starter without giving up any of Gamel, Salome, or Lucroy, I'd be a happy camper.
  12. Unless it's all GM speak. I couldn't imagine the Brewers not being one of the 12 teams.
  13. It would be a good place for Corey. Curve balls and sliders don't break so much there.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gifhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. Looks like he may be non-tendered by the Padres, according to MLBTraderumors.com. Seems to be a perfect fit here. 3.91ERA, 6.5 K/9, 2.9 BB/9 Are the Padres that cheap??
  15. As fast as the Brewers have moved this offseason, it wouldn't surprise me to see that he's going to Milwaukee. I would trade McGehee and Salome for him right now.
  16. It wouldn't bother me if Cam signed with the Cubs at all. Sure, he helps them defensively, but he's another RH stick in a lineup still desperate for a good lefty. They thought Bradley and Fontenot were the answers last year. They were wrong. Cam strikes out way too much. He didn't fit here and he won't fit there.
  17. MLBtraderumors.com state that Halladay wants his Springing training in Florida. He lives there. That eliminates the Brewers. Now go sign Wolf and Sheets.
  18. Amen. The Kendall nightmare is over. Never seen a guy with zero power swing like he can hit the ball 500 feet. He does that all the time!! A guy like Zaun is just a stop gap. A cheaper, better, alternative than Kendall. Good move. I definitley think Salome gets moved if Zaun signs.
  19. The reason it was stupid for the Dodgers to not offer Wolf arby is that there's zero chance he accepts. He'll get a multi-year deal wherever he goes. For him to settle for one year would be stupid. Lackey got arby offered for that very reason. With what happened to some free agent position players last year (Abreu, OHudson, etc), Melvin didn't want to take a chance that Lopez would accept an arby offer. He may only get 5million per season like Abreu and Hudson did. I have no problem with what Melvin has done.
  20. I wish Steve Stone would get a Fox job. He knows more about baseball than anyone else, IMO. I soured on BA. If I hear about Prince's one career grand slam in Cleveland one more time, my ears may bleed. The main problem I had was the blatant repeating of stats and "if Soup get ground balls, he's on." type statements. Every game we'd hear the same thing. Seems like Schroeder make fun of Anderson's lack of knowledge too. McCarver is the most annoying broadcaster not name Joe Morgan. He knows zero about any player outside the northeast and BS's his way through games Because he does no homework on players' backround.
  21. I would offer 3yrs, 27million. 2010- 7million 2011-10million 2012- 10million See if he'll take a little less while we swallow the end of bad contracts. Good idea?
  22. Personally, I don't think Florida needs Gomez. They have Maybin. I would call Toronto, Florida, Seattle, and Detroit. Offer them Gamel, Salome, and Parra. First one to say yes to giving up their Ace gets the deal.
  23. Am I being greedy?? Get Johnson for Parra, Salome, and Cain. Get Jackson for Gamel in the 3 way deal that was rumored. Sign DDavis 2 years, 10 mil. Johnson, Gallardo, Jackson, Davis and Bush
  24. I think Detroit will get more than just Morrow for Jackson. Possibly one of the Brewer catchers with a reliever coming our direction?
  25. Very smart of the Jays to offer that window. I'd say it would take Gamel, Salome, Parra, and Scarpetta. That's if an extension is signed Without an extension, I's still give Gamel and Parra. But no more.
