  1. I am assuming we would have had to pay more, maybe a lot more, to get Ramos versus the Mets. Milwaukee still isn't a free agent destination for a lot of guys.
  2. There are so many 2nd base options out there. You would think some of these guys would start getting a little nervous that they will be left without a chair.
  3. It's already been tried quite a bit. Well, some. Joe Maddon did it against us last year, for one. Yeah, they did it with Duensing and Cishek. Cishek started the inning, but went to left-field while Duensing came in to face Thames. Then they switched as Cishek came back to the mound to face Cain. After that Duensing came back in from LF to pitch to Yelich. The Brewers apparently did it once under the reign of Tom Trebelhorn with Chuck Crim and Tony Fossass (LINK). In that instance Chuck Crim went to 1B for one batter. It would be interesting to do this with the pitcher going to first base. Not that they are great defenders, but you could move Thames/Aguilar around if you wanted to keep their bat in the lineup.
  4. Abreu will probably be the DH. Unless they sign one of Harper or Machado and add some more pitching, they're stupid to hold on to him. Then why did they just trade for Alonso? I expect them to attempt to win this year.
  5. Abreu will probably be the DH.
  6. I am guessing he took the first decent 2 year offer he was given. I would have to assume we only offered him 1 year.
  7. I started out my career teaching and am now in the private sector. I can tell you with 100% certainty that the private sector is sooo much better.
  8. Pretty sure Houser has no options.
  9. Pay schedule has changed multiple times. Benefits have changed twice. I have to work during the summer since I dont get paid a lot. I also have to take classes and training over the summer, but yea, you nailed it. These are the types of responses that I hear often and why the profession is looked down upon. He should have added "welcome to the real world". Those are always the best!
  10. Complete job security? What bugs me is people commenting on things that they have NO IDEA on. I mean clueless completely about..... I don't claim to be an expert on other people's jobs but it's funny how everyone is an expert when it comes to education.
  11. I know this was mentioned earlier but does anyone else think this was at least partially a financial move? Meaning, Stearns will have a little more money to spend in free agency?
  12. With Albers and Houser likely being in the bullpen, guys with options are really important. Granted, you could just release those guys but Stearns values depth highly.
  13. A few positives on this. Texas was 27th in MLB in terms of shifting. This would negatively affect Claudio as he is a ground ball pitcher. Being able to be part of the taxi squad is part of his value no doubt. He will not be expensive this year which is important if as address 2B and probably C. Finally, if Turbo and Twirly hate it, odds are it will work out well!
  14. That would come out to around $250,000 per inning. If I ever have kids, they will throw 100mph.
  15. James Shields logged 204 innings last year which was tied for 3rd in the AL and he was better than Lynn pitching in the same division for most of the year. I'll bet he could be had for one year at $10 million or 2 for $15. James Shields would not be an improvement over what we have. I have no idea why you like him so much.
  16. If this is the market for free agent pitching, let's sit this one out.
  17. Guerra's use of the curveball down the stretch and Anibal Sanchez' revitalization with his cutter are the two that come to mind. One we already have on the roster and the other could be signed for less than Chacin was. Sanchez is projected to get much more than we signed Chacin for....
  18. Those expecting the Brewers to bump up payroll significantly are going to be disappointed.
  19. I am guessing you have to take a number with all of these meetings.
  20. I am pretty sure I read somewhere that we owe 4-5 million in deferred contracts this season. I was able to find that we owe Matt Garza 2 million, Soria 1 million, Moose 1 million and Lyles $250k. Jeffress can earn an extra 2.2 million in incentives this year. Chase Anderson could earn up to $400k in incentives. Eric Thames can make $500k in incentives. Lorenzo Cain can make a little over a million in incentives this year.
  21. From what I remember, deferred salary is around 5 million. Also, do not forget performance incentives which likely will add. I think we are pretty close to $100 million right now.
  22. Bogaerts is a little overrated imo. I would trade Knebel for him though.
  23. Great deal for Hamilton. I can't wait for that Hamilton/Escobar super lineup in KC!
  24. How much of this is Red Sox articles=clicks/views? A team that just signed a high priced pitcher is in sell mode? Hmmm
  25. Is it just because he said he would strike out Babe Ruth every time?
