  1. I believe you’ve mentioned this multiple times now. Is this based on actual data, or your personal assumptions?
  2. I tend to agree, Eye Black. Jace Peterson is a roster stop-gap if anything. There's longer-term play in the works here.
  3. Thanks! I'm only selling off G-U/memorabilia cards and cheaper autos (Bill Hall, anyone?) at this point, no standard cardboard. For the others, it sounds like it's just a waiting game until someone comes along that wants it, which is fair. Just making sure that it wasn't atypical to have little interest after a week or two.
  4. Curious about other’s experiences selling on eBay. I’ve recently decided to sell off some items from my collection that I don’t really need or want anymore, and though I’ve bought a ton over the years, I haven’t really sold much, other than a handful of things over my many years as a member. The bulk of my listings are ~$5 game-used jersey cards and such, but I have a couple of more significant items listed for buy-it-now prices that are fair, with the make-an-offer feature enacted. So far, I’ve only received completely low-ball offers of like 10% of the BIN price. For those that sell, is this typical? Other than lowering prices, are there other ways to drum up interest ?
  5. If you truly believe that's true, than you're basically stating that 'most of us' are racist/bigoted/etc. and choose to belittle marginalized people as a result. I truly don't think that's accurate on a 'most of us' level, regardless of how negatively we can perhaps view society as a whole right now. Thom Brennaman used a bigoted word and it seems because of that, you're making the leap that he must be a bigot if you assume his character is not like others here. You don't know the man. Sorry, I disagree. His behavior showed a window into who he is. You don’t need to know anything, not a single other thing, about a person to know that when they use the N word, they’re a racist, for example. A person who belittles or degrades a class of people is a bigot, literally by definition.

  7. I've long thought that Lux was the ideal return, but I'm very much on the Padres train if they're interested. If you can get one of Morejon, Patino, or Gore, you have the makings of a fantastic deal. Gore is likely out of the question, but Patino would be great.
  8. Vince Biegel out for the year after tearing an achillies in practice on Tuesday. Injuries really have effected his career. I'm confident his time in Green Bay would have played out differently if he hadn't been injured in minicamp. He finally has a nice year including 10 starts for Miami last year, and it's immediately back on the shelf. Really sad. Now, coming off the shelf from a major injury next year at already 28 years old by then, you have to wonder what's left for him.
  9. Anyone think Thom Brennaman will issue a statement of support?
  10. I think this is a little off the mark. Perhaps there'd be more leeway if this was coming back from the ensuing commercial break or something, but he made the apology during the fifth inning of the SECOND game of the double-header, while the comment was made during the first game. He had a few hours to work through something. If anything, people are MORE annoyed with how scrubbed his apology felt, rather than it being something that made it feel like he was actually sorry for something beyond the fact that he got caught.
  11. I think there's a lot to be encouraged about right now. The offense has been worse than you can possibly have expected them to be, and they're solidly in the playoffs. I can certainly be wrong, but I really think they have the potential to really click as they get onto more of a roll/routine. And the pitching has been very solid thus far.
  12. Visit a Brewerfan gameday thread. 95% there think BA and Rock stink and will tell you this isn't true. People's personal feelings about the style of those doing the broadcasts doesn't make the point that they're easily replaceable any less valid...
  13. Why does it matter? Whatever he says is obviously nothing more than attempted damage control at that point. An apology is fine when you have a slip of the tongue on the air or make a joke that you later realize is in bad taste, both of which happen. This is nothing like that, what was said was fully intended and he obviously believes it so I don't really know what the point of any apology is as it is meaningless. Fair point. I think my thought is that you should at least make the apology sound sincere rather than a carefully worded spin attempt.
  14. I started the new documentary series High Score on Netflix about the birth and progression of the video game industry in the 80s, and it’s been very enjoyable so far. It’s really interesting for those that grew up on Atari and NES back then!
  15. I guess the issue I have is with the ‘I apologize to anyone I may have offended’ apologizing. Just say you apologize for saying something bigoted and wrong, don’t qualify it with ‘if I may have offended you....’
  16. Everything I've heard says they're considering a January start, but I haven't heard anything credible beyond that.
  17. If we're noting that Stearns has found some gems that lost their luster fairly quickly, I think it's also worth giving him credit for not stupidly committing a large amount of resources to those people as previous regimes did. Rather than giving a guy like Shaw a monster deal, they were able to move on without a franchise-crippling financial albatross hanging over them.
  18. I think you're nitpicking a bit over terminology. I think you're 100% correct that the goal should always be to get as much as possible while giving at little as possible. But the result of that is a deal that accomplishes whatever the goal is of both the teams, meaning that a deal's 'winner' isn't decided in the moment, but rather 3-5-10-whatever years later when the results of the goals are actually apparent. Sometimes, it works out fine for both sides over both the short and long-terms.
  19. I think you root for the Cards now, then wait for their inevitable meltdown when they go through their stretch of 30 double headers....
  20. I think it's worth questioning whether the clubhouse's response to Plesac's behavior is indicative of a larger behavior problem behind the scenes. Not sure if it's really an issue or not, but you have to speculate since the response of his teammates was soooo negative towards him.
  21. I think Briggs is right- he's show a solid amount of power, including in his age 23 MLB season last year. I think he's young, controlled, and could be very interesting for a team like Milwaukee. He graded out as a solid 1B last year (his overall defensive numbers were dragged down by below average play in his innings as a 2B), so he might be a good fit there for the long-term. I think cost, not potential power, are is the factor that would keep the Brewers from legitimate interest. I think he's a 30+ HR guy over the next few seasons.
  22. Obviously, this draft will be made or broken based on what Love does, but I have a strong suspicion that Dillon will look like a massive steal within a year or two.
  23. I think it's fair to note the importance of the CC trade from a franchise standpoint, as it was the first time the team had made the playoffs in decades as noted, but also put Milwaukee back on the map so to speak as a team willing to acquire big-name players to make a run as necessary. It's very fair to weigh that heavily. But for value to the franchise, TPlush is right that it's likely that the Yelich trade will be the Brewers' equivalent of trading for Brett Favre.
