I’m a fan of taking two bites at the apple. Good draft to have picks, especially on a team that may implode financially in a year or two and need cheap young talent.
St. Brown to Chicago. The Getsy connection is going to be strong this offseason, apparently.
Fletcher Cox released by Philly. Seems like a good year for d-line help if they can fit someone in with the cap.
Amos restructured creating $4.7 million of additional room. When Campbell becomes official, they’ll have a few hundred k of room.
Reports are that Cobb’s restructure was a clean pay cut.
Bojo cliffed after the weather got cold, and his holding clearly had at least a modest effect if not more on Crosby's issues last year. O'Donnell is an experienced cold-weather punter and has held for a pretty consistent kicker, so both of those things are plusses.
Well, Packers are under the cap and no releases are reported on the official wire. Clearly, a restructure or extension are done but yet to be announced.
I'm honestly expecting Cobb to get cut at 3:01 today if he's not cut this morning. They're probably waiting as long as possible to see if they can free up the other space they need by 2:59. I'd assume they'd strongly prefer to use a post June-1 designation for their allotted two guys after 3 pm. Crosby and Cobb would make a ton of sense in that regard, and would give them like $11 million in space. Those plus a 2022 cap-friendly extension for Adams and/or Jaire would likely let them make a legit swing at retaining Rasul and Tonyan.
I think that’s correct- they’ve identified that a larger number of families likely use the Terrace due to cost, etc, and they feel it’d be a better fit up there.
To be fair, though, since it appears that Adams and Jaire extensions are unlikely by tomorrow afternoon, that’s likely where they’ll have to look JUST to get under the cap tomorrow. Hence, Rasul at least hits the FA market.
JC Tretter was cut as a cap casualty today. He still graded out VERY well last year. I'd have a lot of interest pending their thoughts on whether he'd be willing/able to slide to OG.
Yeah, I too am not taking the initial tweet at face value. He'd be a logical cut with a 6/1 designation, but you can't use the designation for pre-league year cuts. There's a strong possibility he's axed later this week after the league year starts to free up another $3.4m.
