  1. Honestly, that's why a Love trade for them makes a lot of sense. I wouldn't spend tens of millions of dollars on ANY of the FA QBs and expect them to be better than Wentz.
  2. I agree with the thought that trading Love isn't a thing the Packers have to do right now, but I do think there's a chance they could get an offer they can't pass up. Love is cheap and the draft class is categorized as 'uninspiring'. Add in the fact that Mitch Trubisky appears to be the best available FA QB, I don't think it's completely crazy to think a team like the Colts could realize that Wentz stinks and they're a QB away from a pretty good offense then choose to make an offer for Love that the Packers would consider.
  3. I really struggle with 'reporting' that begins with "The Packers apparently just made an offer". I equally struggle to comprehend whether this source is reliable, or the same one who was feeding garbage to ESPN reporters last summer.
  4. Though all of this is basically true, I do think it's fair to question why some of the logical and basically 'lock' transactions haven't been done yet- IE, there aren't a lot of people who think anything other than Z must be cut before March 16th. So why haven't they done so yet? Feels like there's a bunch of moves that will come in a major flurry of activity, either within the next day or shortly thereafter. Possibly both.
  5. Yeah, that Badger team was white hot at the right time.
  6. Pretty remarkable that a little over 2 years ago Gard seemed headed towards dismissal, now he's won 2 conference titles in three years. We'll never know what noise that 19-20 team would have made in the tourneys, but I'm VERY excited to see what this team does.
  7. Couldn’t be happier for such a fun team to watch.
  8. I THINK week 17 is required to be intra-division. If so, there's zero way the Packers play a divisional game in London. I do think they'd be very smart to do week 16 overseas, though. Would allow the fans to travel more because of he holiday week preceding it and many having Monday the 2nd off.
  9. Likely freed up about $9 million. His cap numbers in 23 and 24 are now an astounding $28.5m and $32.5m.
  10. It’s the nature of the social media offseason cycle- one person makes a report that clearly includes speculation, and everyone else runs with it as fact. IE, “the Packers could offer Rodgers the highest paid QB contact which would mean paying him $50m per year” immediately becomes “the Packers are offering to pay Rodgers $50m per year.” Add in some attention-seeking sour grapes from Greg Jennings, and there’s your inaccurate story.
  11. Man, that cap number is almost uncarry-able for the Packers. That report is obviously speculation and that number is coming from an estimate, but I see zero way they can carry Rodgers at $35 mil without gutting the rest of the team. The $20m savings of a trade/restructure is pretty crucial to their cap planning, I'd think.
  12. Second cap domino is an Aaron Jones restructure: "The Packers have created $3.08M in 2022 cap space by converting $3.85M of RB Aaron Jones' 2022 compensation into a signing bonus and adding two void years, per source. "
  13. Gute was apparently asked about Z today and said that his cap number would have to be ‘fixed’ for him to remain with the team. Factually accurate, but that sounds like there’s a window open on a return to me…
  14. Roster & base salary converted to SB and two void years added to spread it out over 5 vs. 3 years. I'd expect the second move to be a Bakh restructure unless they can get a Jaire extension done first.
  15. Technically, the lease is likely to end up being a 40 year lease, which would modify the annual expense to $15 million. And I know you’re jut making a best effort rough calculation, but historical looking average numbers are going to be less by due to the general increase in both the interest in the team vs. the mess of day 2002 and the overall increase in team spending since the ownership change. IE, payroll is far more likely to be closer to $90-$100 million+ than it would be to $70 million, IMO. But I do agree completely on a focused ticket-tax type item….
  16. I suppose anything on a message board is 'might', but I'd go further to say that my own personal expectation is that I'd be surprised if he didn't.
  17. If Rodgers signs a long-term extension, I'd put the odds pretty high that Love would ask for a trade. Justified or not, and completely my opinion, I think that's what would happen. Why would he allow his career to toil as a 4-year backup or more and also miss the chance to cash in on a second contract, which is typically the best money-making contract most NFL players get? Another key part of the reason the Packers moved on from Favre to Rodgers when they did was basically because they had to choose between going with Rodgers or cutting him loose at that point.
  18. I guess I'd be interested in seeing updated projections on dollars spent vs. revenue gained on those scenarios, as if $1 of taxpayer money spent equals $1.25 of resulting tax revenue, that's a net positive for taxpayers regardless of whether you're a sports fan or not. But, I do think the needle has moved on 'new stadium' construction because of the mammoth projects most of those have become. Whether taxpayer dollars for maintenance & team retention related to an existing facility is a net positive, however, is something that would be interesting to know.
  19. I don't think that's necessarily accurate. If you're going to join another organization and hope to compete quickly, you are far better off being traded early so the receiving team can plan their offseason strategy accordingly and so that your client can go through the offseason with his new team.
  20. Right. But at the same time, the Packers could theoretically tell Love's representation to pound sand. Absolutely correct.
  21. I think it comes from the assumption that if Rodgers signs an extension, Love’s representation would be crazy not to ask for him to be traded to a place where he might have a chance at a legit opportunity to compete for a starting job.
  22. Rodgers is indeed joining McAfee as his surprise guest today. Considering the odd post last night, it’s probably worth paying attention to….
  23. Rodgers and Z are having a cryptic social media post contest, I think.
  24. Yeah, it seems more than a little odd to claim that ‘everyone around the league knows’, but the only reporter who does is based in Denver?
