  1. Wolf stinks. Probably our worst starting pitcher. Even with today's bad start from Wolf, Narveson's ERA is almost a full run higher.
  2. Doug Davis apparently became a grizzled lumberjack during his time on the disabled list....
  3. We've had like 2 perfect games Cough.... 3.... cough.
  4. I hope I can hear a siren go off if the weather gets bad enough. That was exactly my thought the other night, especially with the house closed up and the air on.
  5. Early reports of tornadoes on the ground last night in Waukesha County and Cross Plains so far.
  6. I think we had a much more in depth tour than most people get. If you did their special 'Hardhat tour', they only do one of those a week and it's limited to only 15-20 people. Well worth it if you're a beer enthusiast. I was fortunate enough to do that tour shortly after the hilltop Brewery opened, and Dan Carey actually joined us on the tour. Very cool.
  7. I met Mike in person not too long after he was drafted, I think circa 2002, and he seemed like a really nice guy with a great personality. Too bad the injuries took him so far off the track to the Majors. Best wishes to him going forward.
  8. I haven't watched Leno since he moved back to his own slot and never will. Agreed. I would tune into Leno/Conan's Tonight Show occasionally before this unfolded, now I won't watch at all. Craig Ferguson or no one for me.
  9. Oddly, the Utes will start Pac-12 play next year, while Colorado is going to start in 2012. You'd think you'd want to make those additions at the same time, but apparently not.
  10. I have been pulled over while going the speed limit, told I was speeding, and given a ticket. I had no recourse other than to file a complaint against the "Sheriff." Still had to pay my extortion fee. True story. If that's a true story, then saying your driving record was clean earlier in this thread wasn't a true story?
  11. That article also says they will not be changing the name of the conference. Odd. Does that indicate that they recognize the Big 12 is even more unstable now, and might not last long enough to make changing the name worthwhile? Or would that be reading into it too much? The Big 12 will almost surely be adding two more teams in the coming year or two, getting them back to 12. They've got to have 12 to re-instate their championship game which they'll need in order to meet all of those promises they made as far as revenue payouts.
  12. Interesting that now that most of the dust have settled (pending again what I believe will be a 12th team added to the Pac), the winner of all of this ends up being the Big Ten. The Pac gets another team, but not a world-beater, and gets shunned by the rest of the Big 12 South. The Big 12 loses two teams and sells itself even further to the Longhorns but lives to fight another day. In the end, the Big Ten gets it's 12th team, championship game, and a great fit of an institution. Oddly enough, the biggest loser in all of this might well be Boise State, who might have received an invite now from the Pac to be their 12th team if they had waited a week to switch conferences. Well, they may be the biggest loser aside from maybe Missouri, who feels like a kid that was stood up on prom night in all of this.
  13. As soon as I heard the initial reports of them being close to saving the Big 12 today, I really started to wonder if the Pac talk from Texas was all posturing to get Beebe to beg them to stick around and give them whatever they want to make that happen. Now that it is a done deal, I'm very eager to see the final deals that were made, as JoeHova mentioned. I also agree that this may just be a temporary reprieve, as I think Texas will see how things play out over the next couple of years in terms of revenue and what other schools do, and I think Missouri will jump ship to pretty much any other major conference should they get invited. Also, I think there's about zero chance the Pac stays at 11. I'd expect them to offer Utah or the like yet in the coming days if the Big 12 schools are off the table. I think he'll panic because the Pac-10 took the wheel and is now steering this (if Texas goes there). The Pac-10 is threatening the Big Ten's interests, imo. Moot now, but I disagree with this. Delany has been doing this for a long time, and has made all the right moves thus far. Considering that the Pac's TV revenues even with the 5 Big 12 South schools was projected less than the Big Ten's, I think they'd have been fine sticking at 12 unless Texas' move spooked ND into joining up.
  14. Interesting that they project Texas' TV intake even with their own network to be in the 20-22 million range in a few years, which is less than they'd make in the Big Ten. Also, getting rid of the championship game even temporarily will certainly hurt revenues, as that cash cow is one of the main reasons the Big Ten was looking to add that 12th team. That's in addition to the revenue generating capacity losses from Nebraska and Colorado. Maybe what Beebe is promising is plausible (though I guess it's his job to try and keep the league together even if not plausible), but I just can't see that being the most attractive/lucrative offer that is going to be out there for Texas to consider.
  15. I really, really doubt that Tech will get to go to the Pac-10 if A&M and OU go to the SEC and Texas goes independent. That's probably correct. I was responding to craig's scenario where he had Texas, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State already going to the Pac when I made that statement. So either there's something fishy, A&M is blowing smoke to get a better deal with the Pac-10, or Texas is blowing smoke. I agree that this seems really odd. I guess it's possible that despite the joint meetings and such, A&M is sick of being the 'little brother' in all of this. Still, why in the world isn't Texas talking with the SEC? If the SEC is trying to expand their brand into Texas, you'd think the only way that they'd pursue A&M to do so would be if Texas shunned them.
  16. Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas St., Missouri, Baylor and either Texas Tech or A&M as your conference? Tech is going to the Pac regardless, A&M is either going to the Pac or SEC, so neither will be left in the Big 12. I agree that the Big 12 is on borrowed time, barring some late change of heart by the Longhorns or Sooners.
  17. That umpire should be ashamed of that 3-1 strike call to Prince.
  18. Oklahoma publicly acknowledges that they talked to the Pac-10 today, Texas is supposedly meeting with the Pac but 'exploring all their options'. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5279373 Meanwhile, the Mountain West is looking at Missouri and Kansas if the Big 12 does fold. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5279018
  19. Am I the only one who still expects Texas to join the Big 10? Possibly. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ESPN is reporting that the Big 12 South schools will probably make the move to the Pac on Tuesday, and that's coming from their own sources, not websites like orangebloods. The one thing that could really hurt this play by the Pac is A&M's looming decision. If they decide to go to the SEC and break from Texas, not only does the Pac lose the fanbase and market of A&M along with the rivalry with Texas, but they also then have a 16th spot that Texas would probably ask them to bring Baylor in to fill. Exactly what they tried to avoid by adding Colorado so early in the process.
  20. Listened to a bit of Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe's teleconference from this afternoon, and he truly sounds like a man that knows he's going to be out of a job shortly.
  21. Glad to have Nebraska on board. I think Texas going to the Pac-10 is only a misplay if the Big Ten was truly focused on Texas and felt they had a legitimate chance to bring them in. As such, the outcome still shows projections of a Pac-10 network bringing in less revenue per school than the Big Ten, even with the biggest prize in college sports in the fold. Nebraska only expands the brand and enhances the rivalries. Not to mention the additional revenues of a probably conference title game.
  22. Big 12 fans will be the losers, while every else has much to gain by seeing the power conferences battle it out. Big East fans almost certainly will be losers in all of this too, especially if the Big Ten does decide to go to 16. Lots of rivalries to be lost throughout too, especially depending on where the SEC grabs its additional teams from. Am I the only one to believe that if the Big Ten goes to 16 teams and doesn't get two of Nebraska/Notre Dame/Texas, that they may have lost in the big picture as well? I love the conference makeup if they add the Huskers and stay at 12, but if we jump to 16 by adding the likes of Rutgers, Pitt, Mizzou, whomever, I think the Big Ten clearly falls to 3rd in the conference power standings.
  23. In an absolutely stunning development, KCTV in Kansas City is reporting that Texas and Texas A&M are now looking to join the Big Ten. Negotiations are underway, and an agreement could be reached shortly. http://www.kctv5.com/sports/23860558/detail.html
  24. Texas must really want out. I think they recognize the potential earnings a super conference could bring, while losing Nebraska makes the Big 12 essentially the Texas/Oklahoma schools and a bunch of crap in the north division. Who wants to watch Texas play Kansas State or Iowa State when they could watch them play Oregon, USC, UCLA, etc? That's probably their line of thinking as much as anything.
