  1. or he could have blown out a knee playing for the Brewers... Yeah it is too bad he got hurt, but for position players it doesnt matter if they are playing in the WBC or in spring training, the risk of injury is the same. Which is exactly why the second line of my post said: Sure, he could just as well hurt himself in our spring training game, but at least that would have been at OUR game....
  2. Well, this officially ends any interest I had left in seeing the WBC continue going forward. Sure, he could just as well hurt himself in our spring training game, but at least that would have been at OUR game....
  3. Now, if you are saying -- the Badgers are good enough to win favorable matchups if the chips fall their way -- I agree. That's more or less what I'm saying- beat our first round matchup, and then having a 13 upset the 4th seed, suddenly we're in the sweet 16.
  4. Call me crazy, but this strikes me as exactly the type of Wisconsin team that stumbles into the tourney and somehow makes it to the Sweet 16.
  5. He wasn't removed from the 40 man, correct? Correct. Since he was 'optioned', he goes to the minors without leaving the 40-man.
  6. Matt Vasgersian in the last 3 or so versions of MLB The Show has said "they go down without a whimper". Isn't it supposed to be 'they go down with a whimper?'
  7. With all the rules about worthless posts, you would figure this would have got caught up in one of them. Thanks for your suggestion on what should and shouldn't be allowed here, along with your own fine example of the latter.
  8. Another thing from operationsports is the section about "sliders". I used a guy named Trinity's sliders and the gameplay is even more realistic as far as how many hits, homeruns, errors, etc. I'm using Trinity's sliders as well, though I'm not using auto defense. So far, things have been fairly realistic, though hitting is still a challenge in the sense of grouping hits together. I have lots of hitters hitting well, but I'm not scoring many runs overall.
  9. I liked last year's base running system better. Using the left analog stick is really touchy for some reason. I've already switched my controls to 'classic' baserunning mode...
  10. Sadly, it seems the more you play the game, the more you notice the surprising amount of bugs in it. Fortunately, the first patch is available as of today to fix a couple of the little things, along with another roster update.
  11. My guess is possibly one holdup with Pedro Martinez is that he still wants to be a starter, where it makes more sense to probably use him as a reliever/spot starter at this point. Really though, Pedro holds all the cards at this point if that's the case. He's made more than enough money in his career to let him wait until a few weeks into the season when some contender will undoubtedly have a significant injury to a starting pitcher, and will be very interested in bringing him in.
  12. Hells Bells doesn't actually play, they just toll bells to make it sound like it.
  13. For PS3, I started an online game, it downloaded the roster update, and during the game it cut to the dugout with Macha walking around. I saw the gray hair and he turned around to talk to someone and it said Macha on the back of his jersey. So I don't know what's going on, but that was definitely him. I re-downloaded the latest roster today to double-check, and the manager's name with the latest update is 'Elvis Stafford'.
  14. After downloading the new roster update I noticed Ken Macha in the dugout walking around, so you just need the new update. For PS2? I already have the update for PS3 and he's definitely not the manager.
  15. Why in the world are Ed Sedar and Dale Sveum in the game as coaches, but Bill Castro and Ken Macha are not?
  16. The problem arises when I bring our own in and try to bag it that way. The machine won't let you do anything if it senses something that isn't suppose to be there (Our Bag). I suppose we could just press "Skip Bagging" all the time and bag everything on the floor but that would be a pain in the you know what. Couldn't you just scan the first item, place it in your bag, then place both of them on the bagging sensor thing?
  17. I watched his monologue on Monday to see how he started off, and it was painful to watch.
  18. I believe they've announced that a roster patch will be released very soon that should make the rosters current. Just FYI for PS3 users.
  19. Wow, this is impressively out of line. The attitude is just wrong, naive, silly in so many ways. Victim mentality, sense of entitlement, the whole nine yards. I feel bad for the HR people on this board who might've happened upon this nonsense. Extremely condescending post, whether you agree with alorrigan's attitude/posts or not....
  20. I'm puzzled by one question- How does he not have at least SOMETHING at a bank? He doesn't have a debit card or write checks?
  21. fondy, does that include amended returns for those now retroactively claiming the credit?
  22. didn't make sense that the data card (whatever format it was) would be reformatted at the same time. Chloe said that it had a self-erase mechanism that caused it to be erased after one download of the data- hence, they downloaded the data to the mainframe, and the mainframe was being reformatted.
  23. I'm assuming Gran Torino was out too late to earn nominations? Otherwise, everyone I've talked to that has seen the movie has said it was the best movie they've ever seen (and that includes people who have also seen Slumdog Millionaire).
  24. We have Green probably in two years though if Gamel can't handle third....I still wish Green were moved to second, but I digress into a story for another thread on another forum. That's one of the major potential issues, though. Not only does Green have a major injury to work through this year that may cost him a year of development, but he also needs to have success at two more levels of development before he even touches the field in Milwaukee, and that jump to AA is a major make-or-break jump in development for most prospects. Even if he does find that success in the rest of the minors, when he makes it to Milwaukee, we'll have a much clearer picture of where we stand with Rickie Weeks as a player, and he may be asked to play 2nd at that time. Long story short, you don't hinge long term plans at a position on a guy that had great success in A+ ball, but is a few years away at a minimum.
  25. DeWitt's not likely to put up better numbers than Lamb in 2009 so I don't see any reason to give up anything to get him. DeWitt's not that good. DeWitt put up a .727 OPS as a 22 year old in his first season in the Majors. Yeah, it's quite possible that he won't be better than Lamb in 2009, but if he develops, he'll be a great fall-back option if Gamel can't stick at third.
