  1. I'm not even going to go back to the beginning of the thread here. That attitude is not going to get you very far on this site. Especially when the thread did discuss acquiring pitching, as Stevo mentioned.
  2. When we are one of the few with spending money at the deadline and can make a move...YES! The key is to stay above .500 until mid July and then go for it again. I think this is my opinion as well. Like last year, the goal is to legitimately be in the playoff race in July, and then see what you need to add to make another push like in 08. It certainly seems feasible if not likely that they'll at least be in the running in July with the team's current make-up.
  3. Do they do the MLB hologram authentication at events like On Deck?
  4. Perez would also cost us our 1st rounder.
  5. Well, three weeks ago the Brewers weren't interested in Hoffman either.
  6. Yes, it's still a bit of a long shot, but it doesn't sound like Sheets told the Brewers he already made the decision not to return. Yeah, that really doesn't sound like anything different than what we had heard weeks ago at the winter meetings.
  7. IF Brittle Ben had pitched well when CC was here maybe the Brewers would have won the division Sheets post All-Star break: 3.47 ERA, 2.5 to 1 K-BB Ratio, less hits than IP, 2 complete games, etc. He pitched quite well when CC was with the Brewers.
  8. Definitely one of the most frustrating Badger games I've attended. Truly stunning that they lost that game.
  9. My garage door is apparently frozen shut. I'm thrilled, though, that I discovered it coming home from work and couldn't get in, rather than sometime tonight or tomorrow when I need to get out.
  10. I'm not interested in a salary cap--the NFL is too watered down with parity if you ask me. I've heard this said by a lot of people, but I really don't understand it- it's not exciting that most teams go into a season with a legitimate chance at a Championship?
  11. From the Brown University Website My question would be what they're considering the 'control' subject in their generalized results. IE, a 300 pound trucker probably feels next to nothing at .08, while a 120 pound college freshman is probably completely trashed.
  12. Updating with the breaking news of a new lawsuit against the County, again not particularly surprising considering the reported content of the 911 call: http://www.madison.com/wsj/mad/latest/432509
  13. maybe the people who vote for Sanchez and other undeserving people are just casting the ridiculous votes to "protest" Yeah, that was my thought as well. There's no way that vote wasn't sarcastic in some way.
  14. FBI Mole: is it Walsh, Garofalo, the boss, or someone we haven't really been introduced to yet? Has it been determined that the FBI mole is bigger than the agent that we saw help the sniper escape?
  15. Really enjoying the season so far, but I have the sinking feeling that the "First Man" is this year's 'Kim with the Cougar'.
  16. Whoever didn't vote for Rickey (and there's a lot of them) should too. Yeah, while votes for the likes of Bell look goofy, the bigger problem here is that 5% of the voters somehow didn't think Henderson was deserving, which is completely mind-boggling.
  17. That projection for Swisher has him as a very productive player through his remaining contract, FWIW.
  18. I did catch someone making an off-hand remark about disbanding CTU....which I find hard to understand CTU was disbanded due to the nature in which they handled the prisoners that they were detaining/questioning, I believe.
  19. Any cost savings the Brewers get next season gets negated and then some in the following 2 years. If Swisher doesn't rebound like alot of you think --> Any cost savings the Brewers get next season gets negated and then some in the following 2 years if Swisher doesn't rebound like alot of you think Updated that for you as well. Just a reminder, Cameron was a type B player this offseason, so we would probably be forgoing a sandwich pick if we made this trade as well. They would have to offer Cameron arby after next season, which I don't think is a definite thing, especially if he shows signs of decline in 09.
  20. No he isn't worth it for this year at least. Cameron is simply better than Swisher once you add in defense and it isn't really a close race. The reason they do the deal is for the future seasons which I don't know if it is worth it or not. It seems as though the main reason for why the Brewers would even be considering this deal is not being mentioned by many posters- the 5 million in savings that the Brewers get and probably then use to acquire a pitcher. Really, that's the only reason the Brewers are even talking about trading Cameron for the likes of Melky Cabrera in the first place. It's probably correct to say that factoring in defense and offense, Cameron is a better option for the team than Swisher. But with the complete equation of Cameron vs. Swisher and a pitcher, it probably comes out in the Brewers favor (obviously depending on who they'd go out and acquire).
  21. Way to clear that up, but I noticed you completely ignored the question? Is that because it essentially kills your argument? You have proof of his "massive loss of muscle mass", or are you basing it on him 'looking thinner'? As kramnoj points out, his decline in slugging seems more related to his decline in batting average rather than a decline in power. Unless "a massive loss of muscle mass" made him get fewer overall hits, it doesn't appear to be accurate or relevant at this point. If his average went back up 40 points, his slugging would be right back where it was in Oakland in 07.
  22. Most keep insisting Swisher will rebound Most keep saying there's a strong possibility that Swisher will rebound, no one is insisting that it will happen for sure.
  23. Except New Commisky was a bigger Field at the time. 17 feet down the lines doesn't make the rest of the argument for acquiring Swisher any less valid.
  24. You should look at Cameron's age 25 season when he OPSed .621. Also playing for the White Sox in the hitter-friendly US Cellular Field, by the way.
  25. I just can't see how so many people can be behind this turd of a trade. Swisher had an OPS of .742 last season. Yeah, and he had OPS' in the mid-800's the two seasons before that. If you make the trade, you're betting on a rebound year. That's why he's both a risky acquisition and one with a significant potential rewards, because if he rebounds to a mid-800 OPS player, the Brewers got him for well below what they should have given up for that type of player. Cameron has never had a season that poor At 36, he's not going to be going up from where he's at now, and is a fairly safe bet to be going the other way going forward. Why would a small market team even think about taking this risk? Because getting Swisher and a pitcher for Cameron and the freed up salary gives you has the potential to make the team better to some degree. Three weeks ago they were talking about getting Melky Cabrera for Cameron, when Cabrera hasn't even touched the success that Swisher has had already. If the Brewers are in need of salary relief, and the Brewers have determined that trading Cameron is the best way to get that relief, they should at least attempt to get a player that could be useful to them in 2009 in return.
