  1. Also, I do not personally know anyone who I would consider a true baseball fan who prefers the DH over the national league style. You may not know them personally, but there are a lot of them here (myself NOT being one of them). Kindly refrain from broad, insulting generalizations, thanks.
  2. Lots of condescension here- tone it down, please. And yes, if you're making claims, back them up with facts.
  3. The heckler that you can hear clearly on the air is drunk and swearing a lot.
  4. Aren't people the slightest bit interested to see who the Brewers draft with the two high draft picks they got out of the deal as well? Seems impossible to get a complete picture of the deal until we see what that becomes. If they get another LaPorta or Braun, the Brewers come out waaaaay ahead.
  5. I took the first lines of that post to mean 'I hope you're not serious about that opinion, because it isn't very intelligent. Combined with the line later that you quoted ("We got to the playoffs.....woo-hoo...."), the poster came off as insulting the original posters' opinion and calling it unintelligent.
  6. Mike Cameron has been a monster this year. (And Prince is a pretty good hitter too, I guess)
  7. The draft pick argument is very weak especially since the Yankees pick is now a 2nd. 2nd round picks have never become good prospects before? If one of the two picks becomes as good a prospect as LaPorta was, the Brewers win the trade in the long run. On baseball tonight Gammons was just talking about how great of guy LaPorta is. Doesn't Gammons talk about how every young ballplayer is a wonderful person, though?
  8. I was just curious as to how other people thought about the replay being used makes umpires more lazy about running out to get fair or foul correct. Replay isn't used for fair or foul, just HR or not HR.
  9. One feature I've always wished we had was just a simple, quick-glance "Upcoming Games" box on the top or side of the page to confirm times and such for the next couple games. That's really a great idea. I'd use that constantly.
  10. What would be the benefit for said player (that´s out of the league) to come forward? About the same as Jose Canseco's was when he really 'broke' the story on the steroids stuff? I don´t think the league can judge against an individual solely by taking a certain person at his word, and that´s the problem with this. Even in the unlikely case that someone were to come forward there would almost certainly be no hard and fast evidence aside from that person´s word vs. Arod´s. Well, there's always the possibility that a second person could come forward and confirm the story as well, then it stops being one person's word against another. Or, AROD could actually come out and tell the 'truth', just like about his steroids use...
  11. By telling Bud, he would be painting himself as a cheater as well, and would likely be banned from the league (ala Pete Rose). I can´t imagine what it would take a player to accept that type of negative press and loss of money. Supposedly this is stuff that happened years ago, right? I think it's quite possible that someone already out of the league that has nothing to lose could come forward. Not saying that it's likely or anything worth pursuing, but I certainly don't think it's unprovable by any stretch.
  12. I hope you're being sarcastic. Mortgaging your future on a one and done in the play-offs isn't very intelligent. Very condescending.
  13. Much of this Arod stuff, especially the pitch tipping, falls in the unsubstantiated rumor category. While unsubstantiated, I'd think it'd be fairly possible to find someone that can confirm it.
  14. Really, this is one of the persistent problems with MLB- the NBA, NFL, NCAAFB, etc have all acknowledged that in today's game, there are simply times when the officials aren't able to be in a position to make a correct call, due to the speed of the game, blocked sight lines, or whatever and have replay as a fall-back to make things right. MLB is plagued by not only umpires that simply don't have the ability in some cases to make the call from a few hundred feet away, but also the stunning ego and fragility of the umpires and their absolutely stunning refusal to acknowledge that they can and sometimes do get calls very, very wrong.
  15. man, that's a 1:07 I'll never get back... And yet, you took even more time to post on the subject as well. Thanks for that, as now reading and commenting here is 15 seconds I'll never get back....
  16. Now I wonder if someone (other than Peavey) bought out the turkey brats out of a belief (however erroneous) that pork brats would bring on swine flu. That's probably a fairly logical reasoning for why there weren't any left, actually. I don't think people go to Woodman's for a pleasant shopping experience. We go there for most of our groceries because it is considerably cheaper. Exactly. I can get my groceries (and especially non-food items like Shampoo, Shaving cream, etc) there for 20-40% less than at places like Copps or the Pig. Though I understand your checkout pain, casey. I always make sure I have few enough items to go through the self-checkout lanes. ----- Continued from: viewtopic.php?p=505107#p505107 Original Lead: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=8540
  17. Sorry hawing, this is my annual 'eat your weight in turkey brats' weekend.
  18. I wonder if Branyan has ever 4 or more hits in a game Probably could have stopped the sentence there. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. I thought TH had said Corporan is not on the 40 either... That's correct.
  20. But on the other hand, I live way out in the country and it will take me a while to get used to the city so would lakeshore be a better fit? If that's the case absolutely yes. Lakeshore is a much quieter, more removed part of campus than SE.
  21. Bea Arthur died yesterday morning of cancer at age 86: http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/TV/04/25/bea.arthur.obit/index.html
  22. Viz is due over $3 mil. this year and has a $500,000 buyout for next year. Probably not worth rolling the dice on him. Just to clarify, a team is only on the hook for this if they trade for him or claim him on waivers. Once he clears waivers, the Brewers would be free to sign him to whatever contract they'd like.
  23. 23 is on the older side for good players to debut in the majors. You have facts/numbers to back this up, or is it a personal assumption?
  24. Apparently Riske's got looseness in his elbow...rotoworld suggests he's going to try and feel it out, but tommy john is likely Perhaps more concerning is that our medical staff thought it was ok for him to pitch all spring for some reason even though almost everyone else could tell he was hurt....
  25. Is Braden Looper our 'stopper' this year? Great acquisition so far.....
