  1. But as some may say, ‘Other than that Mrs Lincoln…..’
  2. Yeah, their combined record of 8-3 vs. LA and SD shouldn't be overlooked at all, since those are two consensus playoff teams. Add in 6-3 vs. the Cubs, and you're at 14-6 vs. three legit teams.
  3. Not an unfair point. But those wins don't count any less come October....
  4. I think it's fair to honor/be grateful to Selig for bringing the Brewers back to Milwaukee and everything he did for the city in that regard. I think it's also fair to be negative on his term as owner, especially as it became clear that his personal financial resources became increasingly limited as the landscape of baseball & the related expenses exploded.
  5. Thanks for the additional information and update. I do think it's worth noting the earlier point that this thread only seems to get bumped otherwise when they're in a dry spell, but it's ignored when the team is winning as designed.
  6. 'Isn't that bad' is probably underselling it, as it's actually been quite good. Yeah, Boston sports have been crazy the last 20 years, but we've had it quite good relative to most markets regardless of size. I think a lot of it comes down to how consistently elite some of the sports have been just to be let downs. Packers and the Bucks are perennial top threats to win a championships. So winning a division or even make the semi final round isn't exactly an accomplishment in anyone's eyes. I think the point others have made earlier in the thread is that many markets WOULD view that as an accomplishment, and many would be grateful for the opportunities that Wisconsin sports have had. We've become extraordinarily spoiled or, perhaps, jaded in that regard.

  8. I guess the disconnect here seems to be that I view 'what it is right now' as an unlikely move. Possible? Sure, I suppose that's fair. But likely? Absolutely not, not until we hear either a definitive 'I'm interested in playing in 2021'-type statement from the Braun camp, or that the Brewers are actively trying to lure him back. Beyond that, and again, IMO, it's just the typical Trade Rumors forum thread that rarely comes to fruition.
  9. Isn’t that ther basic concept behind discussion on a message board? Perhaps it’s because in this case there’s a definite reason to debate it?
  10. It goes both ways, right? When not enough info is there for retired or not retired, there can be some dialogue on possibilities or probabilities that he comes back. But there IS more info to suggest no comeback. The Brewers flat out said this week that they’re not talking to him. What about that suggests anything other than it isn’t likely to happen?
  11. But what info is actually out there that makes this seem likely or even possible at this point? Braun’s continued indifference toward playing and the Brewers repeatedly saying they haven’t had talks with him don’t seem to imply that this is likely anytime soon. It really just seems to be a thing fans want rather than something that may actually happen, in my opinion.
  12. Yeah, the 'he could use the COVID exemption' story really only works if you believe he's actually interested in not playing next year, when I strongly doubt that's a serious consideration on his part.
  13. I'm not necessarily sure that changes much, though. If he sits out, the Packers would still control him for two MORE seasons. It's not like he's in the last year of his contract and potentially willing to ride it out.... if the Packers dig in and are willing to let him sit out, they could do so for three seasons, effectively ending his career.
  14. That is some industrial-grade work to bring that joke home. Well done!
  15. Hader was the most logical trade candidate both this past offseason and last trade deadline to address the team's holes. Considering both his absurd success and the relatively weak performance of the bullpen, holding on to him was the best way to address a hole in the team, it turned out....
  16. Just because a team unwisely overpaid someone for production doesn't mean that other teams also need to do so for an unrelated player....
  17. Seems like a bewilderingly blanket statement to make without knowing a thing about his personal health condition or possible underlying conditions, right? I think we can all agree that in the case of any illness, your chances of transmission are effected dramatically by proximity and size of the space you're in with an infected person. Claiming that a car and a grocery store present similar risks is simply inaccurate. This is a very good point, as it sounds like different businesses/school districts, etc. may have different policies going forward regarding quarantining, etc. if there's a known exposure, vaccinated or not.
  18. Though I agree with the theory you're putting forth here, I just don't know how applicable it is. Wisconsin's system has been Wisconsin's system for what, 30 years? These guys knew the score. If they didn't, that's more than a little on them. It also requires you to believe that Gard is dishonest, at least in a recruiting sort of way, which goes contrary to everything I've heard and even know first hand (vaguely) about him and his family. Is he probably telling them they're the greatest and they'll really help Wisconsin win like every coach is? Sure. But is he telling them he's getting them a path to the NBA lottery? I find that doubtful.... To be fair they were switching coaches around the time most of these guys came in. It wouldn't be crazy to believe the new coach (especially if he said it) things might be changing. Of course they did give the job to Gard who came right from under the old coach, so no one should have expected much change. I would tend to believe Gard is a bit dishonest in some ways when it comes to coaching the team. Im not sure how you can make a statement like this without more info supporting your argument. What do you mean by this? Or are you basing it solely on the edited stuff in this recording? Also, Kobe King? Isn’t he in the G league draft this year after playing for a D 2 school after transferring from multiple D 1 schools? Perhaps it was Kobe King that was the problem there, rather than the program?

  20. Tucker makes the most sense, considering his abrupt departure from the program and unwillingness to answer reporter calls on why. He also, though, makes the least sense considering that he seemed to be one of the biggest Ryan-system type, don't-make-waves sort of guys.
  21. I think this is VERY accurate. There are a lot of people who have negative thoughts about Milwaukee because of some of the limitations it had decades ago, and they're basing their opinions on those outdated opinions without having actually been here.
  22. Alvarez released a statement saying he’s looking forward to watching Gard coach the 21-22 season, so that’s the end of that speculation.
  23. But interestingly, the other thing the Diamondbacks are doing is losing. A lot.
  24. I'd honestly consider a play-in game. But, the NCAA won't do that and they'd likely have to default back to the highest ranking one or something like that.
  25. I always thought (and probably still do think) that 8 was the perfect number- all 5 of the P5 get auto-bids, and that leaves three at-larges to cover the inevitable conference championship game upsets. Add in an auto-birth for any undefeated non-P5 team to avoid a UCF-like disaster and you're set. 12 seems workable, and is certainly better than 4 though.
