  1. They basically have 4 guys who are going to be in the lineup basically every day unless they need a rest day (Yelich, Cain, Shaw and Aguilar). Everyone else is subject to regular rotation and matchups. I think they all get that by now.
  2. Phillips has definitely taken a big value hit this year. Not that long ago he was a top 50 prospect and headlined the Gomez deal, then dropped off some with a mediocre 2016 and gained some value back with a nice 2017. He's still young, and there's certainly still some value there, but mediocre Colorado Springs numbers aren't going to thrill any potential trade partner.
  3. I don't know if its Stearns, or Counsell, or Johnson, or who, but yeah. All the injuries, big regressions, no Nelson or any ace, and the best record in the National League currently? Hats off.
  4. That's one of those offers that seems absurd enough to wonder if it isn't just false. That's not that far off from us offering Hiura and Burnes for Machado and being told we're not even close.
  5. Yeah, forget Manny if that's true. The Orioles are pretty stupid not to take that.
  6. Ok HNW. I'm not going to have a silly debate on word and term definitions with you. You win.
  7. There's nothing in that article that says the Brewers are in on Machado let alone definitely in on him. Of course they're going to kick the tires to see what the asking price is but I'd bet my life that's where it ends, as it should. That article also mentioned Orf...but not Saladino. Yikes. You're really splitting hairs to say it doesn't say they're in on them but then admit of course they're kicking the tires. I even said its impossible to say to what extent they'd be in on him. I guess maybe 'in' isn't the right term but they are doing their due diligence as always.
  8. And when he was on the radio he admits he likes to churn the pot too. Of course the Brewers have inquired about him, to see what the Orioles were thinking - just like every GM with a playoff pulse that has a need at 3B/SS would have by now. Maybe the Orioles will really like a few players in our system that the Brewers feel they can part ways with and a trade gets done. The one area where I'm wondering if there will be more to our interest than most people think is the question of whether the Orioles are going to prefer young prospects far away from the majors or young MLB-ready talent. If it's the latter, we are loaded with such players. Santana, Phillips, Woodruff, Dubon.
  9. Heyman reports the Brewers are definitely in on Machado. To what extent, impossible to say. https://fancredsports.com/articles/jon-heyman-milwaukee-checks-on-machado-as-mostly
  10. If you could land Machado for Arcia I honestly don't think it would be a terrible thing if you could still extract that much value from Arcia, if you think it could help win you the NL this year. You'd keep your farm system completely in tact and Dubon could slide right in as your SS next year and you'd still have high level D at short with Dubon.
  11. Sogard 97 ABs... that's less than 100. Comes out to a little more than 1 a game. I take last year's stats into account for all players, not just Sogard, especially when we aren't at the break yet. He had more walks than Ks in 2017, had an above avg LD last year and this year, and his OBP of .397 in 2017 was impressive, hot streak withstanding. CC subbed Sogard often for defensive purposes. Villar's lack of making good contact skews those P/PA numbers. You constantly cite Sogard's 2017 season yet rarely mention the years before of mediocre performance. Sogard overall graded out slightly negatively as a defender this year. I can't recall very many times at all that Sogard was subbed in for defensive purposes this year. Entering on a double switch is not the same thing. Villar is a better defender at 2B than Sogard. Saladino is a better defender anywhere, Arcia a vastly better defender at SS and Shaw a better defender at 3rd. Who are all these questionable defensive players that necessitated Sogard's presence?
  12. #1 - Saladino is a better hitter and defender than Sogard. Saladino makes Sogard pointless. #2 - No one is celebrating Sogard the human losing his job. #3 - He is getting a $2.3 million dollar severance. He'll be okay. You make it sound like his factory got shut down and he's got to come home and figure out how to make the next mortgage payment.
  13. He makes me nervous still from his last month, but good to see Jennings with a clean inning.
  14. I seriously have no idea what the hell these guys in New York are even looking at anymore. How can reviewing an obvious thing be that hard for them?
  15. Apparently he is at a family wedding. Will be back for Marlins series. People get married on Thursdays? Weird.
  16. Nope. Better be at least swinging a good bat if you're going to get yourself picked off 2nd with 2 out. Nearing his .725 OPS sweet spot again.
  17. Braun has been around too long to be committing boneheaded mental mistakes like that.
  18. Thames is starting against basically all RHP one way or another. He is not a bench player .
  19. Didn't seem like a big deal or that he got in his face. They were just talking.
  20. Good job Kratz, but holy smokes are you slow. I was watching that thinking, "They're not going to be able to get him" and he's out by 3 steps.
