  1. Given how Peralta has been rocked in Colorado Springs this year, I HIGHLY doubt the team is going to have him make his Major League debut at Coors. It was really just one outing. But I don’t think they’ll call Freddy up unless they have to.
  2. Right now, we have average starters - 15th in the league - but elite relievers (#2 in baseball). That makes for an above average staff. You can win with that - if the offense produces - which it isn't right now. Is it ideal? I don't know. The use of the bullpen is really evolving - making it more and more important. No matter, we will need the offense to step up. For now, I'm content with the rotation. I'll wait for Nelson, see how Woodruff does, and maybe Burnes at some point. I think the bullpen can really be a powerhouse - and there are some really intriguing young arms that can keep it that way for a while. I was sitting here trying to figure out how we're only #2 and not #1. Then I remembered Drake's meltdown inning.
  3. Albers has an ERA of like 1 and no one really gives him a second thought, lol. This pen is ridiculous.
  4. I'm with JJ's agent. At this moment in time anyway, he should be an All-Star.
  5. This, this, and this. Who would the Brewers have to include with Villar to get him? Ponce? Stokes plus Derby? Villar and Ponce was exactly one of the deals I was throwing around in my mind today. I just have no idea if it's close either way, I have a hard time pegging Lowrie's value as a rental. Ponce makes sense to me as a trade chip this year because he's a guy who would need to be protected before next season. Unfortunately he's off to a disastrous start.
  6. Albers has to be the most underappreciated guy in the pen.
  7. My exact thought. With no experience yet this season, he should not have been the guy in that situation. That had potential to be a mess quickly. I know there are those here who love CC and think the mangaer has little to no bearing on game results, but I am questioning CC a lot lately, and it is strating to bug me. Going with Logan there seemed like a weird call to me too. But I think he's been near perfect managing the pitching staff this season. Some managers would have thrown Knebel right back into the closer role and I'm glad he resisted the temptation.
  8. He gave up a weakly hit ground ball. Be that as it may, he put it in a pretty bad spot for the count. Contact wasn't great but did the job, could have been worse.
  9. good call Thanks. I already admitted earlier that Perez was making Craig look good tonight so I'm glad you broke your 8 day quiet spell to come post this 2 word gem.
  10. Not a good debut for Logan. With as good as our pen is if you're going to earn a spot in it on the sole ability to come in and face one single lefty you had better be damn near perfect at retiring him.
  11. Not the first little league homer we’ve given up this year.
  12. In a vacuum yes it would have been better, however, considering the tradeoff of sucking the excitement out of every single time a close call goes your way forever I can live with the mistakes. Personal preference I guess, I can understand your viewpoint, guess “justice” just trumps everything else in mine. So it’s not too surprising I’ve supported calls for electronic strike zones.
  13. It’s easy to feel this way in the 4th inning of a game in early May. Would not be so easy in the 9th inning of a tie playoff game that cost the Brewers a trip to the World Series. Packers got over it when Jerry Rice fumbled in the '98 playoffs. I’m sure as a country we’re pretty much over the 1972 Olympics, but it still would have been nice if they had gotten it right.
  14. Perez not helping our “Why isn’t JV in tonight?” arguments.
  15. It’s easy to feel this way in the 4th inning of a game in early May. Would not be so easy in the 9th inning of a tie playoff game that cost the Brewers a trip to the World Series. And thus the story of the existence of instant replay. A bad call happens in a playoff game to the Yankees, therefore we must suck the excitement out of all games in case it might happen again 130 games from now. It has nothing to do with the Yankees, look at any major sport and how much replay has evolved in the sport the last 20 years or so. Baseball was really one of the very last to come around. I do agree baseball’s system sucks and needs to be improved, but like it or not replay is not going anywhere.

  17. Not exactly what I wanted from Pineapple, but it's a lot better than a K or GIDP.
  18. Marquez has absolutely nothing. It's going to be a sad statement for our offense if we can't get to him before Black figures it out and pulls him.
  19. Must be a lot of pressure on this pitching staff knowing one mistake pretty much costs you a chance to win with this offense.
  20. I mean Pujols still hits 4 so that makes sense as the "by the book" move They're having crazy similar seasons. Both still bat high in the order, both hitting for good power, neither guy worth a damn at getting on base.
  21. Perez getting the nod already paying dividends. Craig can wear the 0-4 with 2 Ks night coming as much as Hernan.
  22. Would prefer to see Braun on the pine instead of Santana the way each has been swinging the bat. God's sakes Craig, try a different lineup than you've been throwing out for the last 20 years or so. Braun doesn't belong at #3 at the moment.
  23. Unfortunately the Brewer beat writers (actually Wisconsin sports teams in general) are completely passive company men who generally do nothing but toss out softball question after softball question. In the rare event that they ask a tough question it's usually posed in as passive a manner as possible. For instance, they won't ask directly why Villar has been benched. They'll say, "Villar in need of a few days off for now to get right?" or "Trying to get Perez going?"
