  1. Good grief, is Biloxi ever going to get to play another game?
  2. Of course, the wild card helped that too. We would've made it 1987 if they had the wild card then. Nothing like finishing 5 games ahead of the WS Champion Twins and being 3rd in your own division. Also that '92 team won 92 games and had nothing to show for it as far as playoffs. It's easier to make the playoffs now than it has ever been. Not that that takes anything away from Melvin's teams but when you're taking 10 out of 30 instead of 4 out of almost 30 it's obviously much easier.
  3. Damn, some real nice contact that inning, just nothing to show for it.
  4. Pirates in the middle of a bullpen meltdown vs the Cubs. Oh well.
  5. Arcia has a career .389 average and .722 slugging with a man on 3rd and less than 2 out. Just saying .
  6. Crap. It's like a team initiation ritual to get thrown out at home on the contact play. Although with Guerra on deck if he doesn't score there he probably doesn't score at all anyway.
  7. That's what makes his skill set so tough to give up on, especially being young(ish) and very controlled. You know how good he can be when he's right. I don't know what he needs to do to cut down on the only thing really holding him back, his K rate. I read somewhere he's actually not a bad ball swinger but swings and misses at more pitches in the zone than anyone else in baseball.
  8. I don't know why some prospects look totally overmatched when they come up and others like Cody Bellinger just look like stars from Day 1. Either way, small sample for Lewis but should give us pause before selling our already MLB proven young outfielders.
  9. That's not a very resounding compliment to our coaching and development personnel in the minor leagues.
  10. Maybe not count our chickens before they hatch... Not that it is anyone's fault (obviously) but after seeing this quote and another that said "Should be a big win by Milwaukee today", this is about exactly the kind of start I expected to see. Hopefully they can turn it around. Diaz looks like a nice arm.
  11. This is why I don't assume victory based on the starting pitcher -- things happen. This Padre team recently swept the Cubs. Not assuming a loss yet either.
  12. I never said it wasn't and I don't think it was a horrible move, simply said that at this moment I'd rather have Haniger and Banda . Obviously at the time we thought we were contenders and Mark A I'm sure had some influence in the deal. All I'm saying is that given what Haniger and Banda have become, I have a hard time giving Melvin a huge plus grade for those sequences of moves when Davies is really more of just a back end starter. But he did sell at the right point with Parra.
  13. Everyone counting this one as a win already? Baseball is a fickle game and nothing is certain, I certainly hope it proves to be true but you never know when you could see a bullpen gem or Guerra struggling. With that said it's a great opportunity to make some hay with our upcoming schedule and I hope we can take advantage. Go Brewers!
  14. The Phillies would probably not bother taking our calls the rest of the season if we offered Coulter for Neshak. Coulter is far more organizational filler than prospect at this point. Cordell for Neshak is a lot better starting point but there will be plenty of buyers out there looking for help that top that .
  15. Yep. And what if Woodruff would have pitched instead of getting hurt during warmups. We'll never know. Well they still scored 0 runs, so I'm not sure it would have mattered who if was. Still great to take 3 of 4 in St Louis for sure.
  16. Maybe not, but I don't know who else I would send them. Maybe Peralta. They can't possibly expect anything of real value in return.
  17. Straight up for Peralta in a dual change-of-scenery trade. How about Feliz? Jeffress has had plenty of success here, Feliz plenty of success in Texas... I've seen conflicting reports that Feliz was DFAed or released, which is kind of bad journalism if he indeed hasn't been released yet, which I don't know why he would have been. Big difference between DFA and release .
  18. Can you just put this in every thread on the trade board that has the Brewers trading for a reliever? I am ok with trading for a reliever...provided it is one of those reclamation projects where we essentially give up nothing. How about Feliz for Jeffress straight up? Both teams get something for something they don't want, and both players go back to somewhere familiar where they've had success. Could be a win win for both sides.
