  1. Turang needs to find another tool in his offensive arsenal other than trying to just lay down a bunt every AB.
  2. Two things we know about Contreras: 1) our manager stated, bluntly, that rest won’t help his injury. Only surgery, which he isn’t getting right now. 2) struggling or not this year, he’s still the best catcher on our roster. So, he plays. Maybe he will play a little less when Jansen gets a little more comfortable, at least against LHP.
  3. As others pointed out, Jansen just got here. Don’t know where he’s at in the onboarding process. They might want to ensure he’s gotten familiarized with the pitching staff, their signs, etc before throwing him into such an important game.
  4. Come on Sal. Got a break on what should have been Strike 3 and then took the next pitch anyway.
  5. Well, only the 1 run of damage at least. And a relatively fresh pen thanks to Ashby.
  6. If Cal Raleigh is the bar, every other catcher in the league is going to be closer to Joey Ortiz offensively.
  7. So important for them to have the same intensity today and not let up. With no game 163, the tiebreaker is all-important, essentially an extra game advantage on your opponent. Should the Brewers win today, the Cubs would need to take 4 out of the 5 games next week in the 5 game series to capture the tiebreaker. Conversely, should the Brewers lose today, they would actually need to win the 5 game series at Wrigley to capture the tie tiebreaker. Today is a big game, no less of a big game than the first two.
  8. Well, it’s not like Hoskins was here for his glove or his baserunning. So while it’s true that Vaughn won’t be winning any gold gloves, it’s not like we’ve lost anything there, either. I’d be curious to know if the Brewers’ analytics department just doesn’t find 1B defense to be a particularly heavily weighted asset. It just seems to be the one position over the years that they really haven’t prioritized good defense at all.
  9. I personally hold no ill will toward Counsell and him wanting to take the job in Chicago. I also understand those who want to boo him like he’s the devil. To each their own.
  10. Murphy said “need to wait and see” on Chourio’s injury, so we may not be totally out of the woods yet on it just being a spasm.
  11. Yup. Is it a “must win,” of course not. Is it just as equally big as the first two were, yes. Don’t get complacent just because you won the first two.
  12. That would be Ethan Small and nobody else, who had -0.3 WAR, so I personally have more WAR than the Brewers 2019 draft class.
  13. I just can’t understand how a veteran like Yelich has some of the worst looking ABs on the team.
  14. That was not a great inning from Ashby. I will gladly take the 1 run allowed result.
  15. Vaughn: (hits grand slam) Me: (opens new tab. Types www.bleedcubbieblue.com. Taps “game threads”)
  16. I am not sure how the White Sox hitting coach goes home every night and looks his wife in the eye.
