  1. Don't see a game thread yet. Brewers up early 1-0 on the Braves on the bases loaded walk from Santana but miss a chance for more with 1 out and the bases still loaded on the Perez double play .
  2. Seemed to me though that the point of this thread was help for the bullpen. Don't see how getting rid of them will help that. Sure, if we're in fire sale mode, anything goes if the offer is right, but it's hard to see a scenario even if we're selling where trading away our top 2, and highly controllable bullpen arms will help.
  3. I believe that both 5ths (regular and complementary) are tradeable now, aren't they? I wanted Perine and Biegel in the 4th, so no dice on Perine, but glad they took 1 of the 2 I wanted.
  4. This will happen about a half-dozen times a year with every baseball team. We have about a half-dozen just in April. That may be embellishing, but I can think of 3 just off the top of my head.
  5. Aguilar is worth nothing. If he were DFA'ed today, he'd have a good chance of clearing waivers. Pina or Bandy, maybe. If nothing else I would expect we could get back more than what we gave up for them, even now. But I don't know if we should. We have a pretty good thing going on with them, and no one is going to blow us away for either of them and make it worth breaking our catching tandem up. I'd rather consider Susac a trade piece if he gets it going. Don't know about Santana or Broxton. Santana I would guess is worth more than Broxton because of his previous top 100 prospect status and still young age, but neither has really done much this year to make it worth trading them. We'd probably be selling low on both. Nelson or Peralta, I don't see much there either. Both have non-tender candidate numbers going right now. Bullpen help isn't cheap. I don't really know what is out there, but not many teams are even looking to sell right now. If we're going to get bullpen help it's probably going to have to come internally. We aren't going to just reverse course and start selling off assets for bullpen arms if we are flirting with .500 near the deadline.
  6. Most of our pen -- Milone, Marinez, Drake, and Torres, is made up of guys that no one else wanted. It's just a lousy pen, and Feliz isn't good either. That HR he gave up tonight couldn't have been straighter and more centered in the zone.
  7. My condolences to any fan who wasted their time and money to attend that disaster tonight .
  8. More or less I've agrees with just about everything Stearns has done but Feliz just seems like a lousy signing. He stinks as a closer and the way he's looking he will have little to no trade value .
  9. Congrats on pissing away yet another big lead.
  10. I've come to appreciate more how much a competent pitching coach can do for a team, probably more so than any other coaching position including manager.
  11. 8 runs and we are still fighting for a W. Sounds about right.
  12. Off the top of my head I know Arrieta and Cueto are the best available .
  13. Well we knew Chase was due for one of these sooner or later. Hopefully we can give him enough offense to make it not matter.
  14. Well, the promise of that inning was whisked away quickly.
  15. Arguing semantics and definitions here, but clearing Braun's salary or most of it is certainly a big potential benefit to dealing him. Just because we don't NEED to doesn't mean we don't benefit from cutting our payroll by basically a third. To put it in different terms obviously a deal in which we get 2 good prospects and eat none of Braun's salary is a much better deal than the same prospects but eating half his salary. I think that's all the reporter was saying. Could have been worded better I guess but 'Salary relief' In this case just means we aren't looking to pay Braun to play elsewhere.
  16. I looked over the original write up in the Mercury and didn't find that offensive. It just literally says we're looking for salary relief in exchange for some pretty good players, which of course we are. We aren't looking to pay Braun to play somewhere else. But it doesn't mean we need it, but definitely we're looking for that. Of course maybe you just are meaning it should have been worded differently..like 'The Brewers are looking for some pretty good prospects for Braun and aren't interested in eating much of his contract to do so.'
  17. http://www.brewcrewball.com/2017/4/27/15255250/milwaukee-brewers-have-had-ryan-braun-discussions-with-san-francisco-giants-per-report Latest rumors with Giants: Speculation at this point is basically that while the Giants could probably get a deal done for Braun, it would be unlikely without including both Beede and Arroyo, and the Brewers would be looking for the Giants to take the vast majority of Braun's salary.
  18. I also think the deals that have Braun going to a mystery team like Texas are kind of pointless. Being a contender isn't enough for Braun right now, it's going to have to be a preferred destination. The Rangers have a pretty good number of ex-Brewers but I doubt that's enough to tip the scale. As far as it seems to me, Braun's 1A preference is to go out west somewhere and 1B would be to stay in Milwaukee. Maybe he'd still waive it to go to Miami after he gets his 10/5, but I wouldn't bet on it. I could be wrong but I don't see him just going wherever we get a good deal from .
  19. Not really sure where Gallo would fit either. We're clearly set at 1st for a few years, so it would have to be for 3rd. You'd almost have to include Shaw to the Rangers as part of the deal, but I'm pretty happy with Shaw and Perez at 3rd. I do think Gallo will be good though. Never a high average, but obviously a ton of power and good OBP. Basically another Adam Dunn except I think he'll be better than Dunn defensively.
  20. Well the biggest part would be whether Braun is even willing to go to either of those teams. Everything else is moot if he's not.
  21. They're also dead last in BAA, 28th in WHIP, and 24th in ERA. One peripheral stat even though it shows a better picture doesn't tell the whole story.
  22. I do think it's s playoff caliber offense now. edited to remove quoted posts which were removed: homer
  23. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/minosmi01.shtml This dude played in MLB in 5 different decades. Incredible.
  24. Raji, Hawk, Clinton-Dix and Bulaga were all 1st round picks that I figured 'Yeah this is the guy he'll go with here." And when he took Perry I figured it was either going to be Upshaw or Perry. Rodgers we also knew was a possibility but risky and obviously that was the right call. But yeah most of the others have left me saying 'Who?
