  1. Basically, we have to get everybody else healthy besides the guys we obviously aren’t getting back (Parsons, Wyatt, Kraft). The line then has to protect as well as they were before Tom went out yesterday and Love has to play basically on Rodgers’ level in January. I don’t have much hope for LVN, but defensively he and Gary have to generate enough pressure on the edges to at least somewhat mitigate the loss of Parsons. And then you do all that and still have to get lucky and win the close games. You also need your HC to not be a bonehead in crunch time, and manage the clock better than he did before halftime yesterday and not make dumb emotional decisions that he has a penchant for doing when he gets upset like that inexplicable 4th quarter challenge. That’s the path. It’s a very remote one.
  2. Which I see happening regardless of whether we win next week or not. Win and there’s still a decent shot at a 2. Lose and we’re dropping to 7 for sure. Just a matter of whether the 3rd game is here or Soldier. I can see us winning next week. I think the Bears ironically felt a little overconfident looking ahead to this game after the Lambeau game, and I think after losing Micah yesterday they’re going to be even more overconfident.
  3. And with their loss to Minnesota last night it’s a moot point now. We’ll get in — but likely as a 7.
  4. Do you ever just … let anything go and decide it’s really not worth the argument? I don’t have the time or energy to respond to sarcasm filled, passive aggressive, multi all cap word rants. You’re right. You win. Moving on.
  5. If MLF had to play in the same postseason system as his predecessors (top 6 teams per conference, not 7), he would be in danger of missing the postseason for the 4th consecutive year now. Man is still living off a reputation that was established mostly with Aaron Rodgers here.
  6. I don’t know why anyone would care about losing for draft position. It’s really important in the first round which doesn’t apply to us and matters less and less progressively after that. I’m on the fence. I’m halfway “we’re screwed anyway” and halfway “may as well just get in and see what happens.” Whatever happens against the Bears next week will probably push me one way or the other.
  7. From what I’m reading, none of these are expected to be season ending injuries besides Parsons. We are toast because we lost Micah for the season. If Micah had the same injury as any of the above guys we would not be toast.
  8. I think there’s a path, but it pretty much involves Jordan Love going MVP mode, unlocking Reed, Watson, Golden, and Wicks all at the same time, and winning 40-37 track meets. A lot to ask.
  9. I mean, probably, but we’ve known all season there’s so much parity in the league and there isn’t like a slam dunk #1 in the NFC that’s just going to completely take over in January. Maybe it’s the Rams. I don’t know. It’s hard not to see them putting up 35+ on our D now. But it’s still probably a better chance of a flukey run in this league than say winning a 7 game series against the Dodgers.
  10. Us, Dallas has a terrible conference record.
  11. I would also argue that Parsons being a constant disruptor has made the corners look better than they are, and they’re about to look a lot more mediocre without him.
  12. I agree, but it’s hard to trust that it will be done effectively with how bad we swung and missed this year when we had the same needs this time last year.
  13. The plan clearly was to predicate the entire defense on a pass rush to make it not matter who was playing corner. That kind of falls apart when Parsons gets hurt. Although they obviously thought Hobbs would be better. Gute had a lowkey terrible offseason. Credit for Parsons I guess but that wasn’t some genius move — was something any armchair GM does if they get a chance. Everything else was kind of a disaster. Not just signing Hobbs but letting Stokes walk for cheap.
  14. I see your temper hasn’t changed in the last 20 years. All I was saying is that I thought the context of what I said in the previous post made it apparent that I was including all recent Wisconsin sports team seasons in the discussion. I certainly didn’t know you were going to fly off the handle about it.
  15. Thought it was clear by my Giannis/2021 comment that I was including the entirety of the Wisconsin sports experience in the fan base discussion. I don’t know that I agree on the Rams, anyway. They’ve got a ring in this era and two conference championships. I don’t know how that’s a worse organization, at least in recent years.
  16. Cheer up, you have 92-95 Brewer wins to look forward to next year. This is of course leading up to them getting the doors blown off them by the Dodgers in October, but summer will be fun.
  17. Nah, was more just throwing shade at our corners.
  18. We are not a spoiled fan base. Boston fans have a spoiled fan base. Los Angeles fans have a spoiled fan base. Kansas City fans have a spoiled fan base. I don’t know how anyone could watch professional Wisconsin sports the last decade or two and consider this a spoiled fan base. Seems a lot more snake bitten than spoiled. The sports Gods tossed us a bone in 2021 and let Giannis have a moment. Other than that, it’s been nothing but heartbreak. Just because we aren’t Cleveland Brown or New York Jet fans doesn’t make us spoiled.
  19. Comes with the territory of having bad corners.
  20. Entire game and season turned on that long bomb to Watson when we were up 9. That was the beginning of the end.
  21. Did you read my last paragraph? I said I understand there have been other injuries — but no one — no one at all was throwing in the towel on the season until Parsons went down. That was the one. Yes, I do believe we’re frauds on defense without Micah. Our corners can’t cover, and Gary and Van Ness aren’t good enough without Micah to generate enough of a pass rush to make up for that weakness. That’s a death sentence for the defense.
  22. Kraft hurts, but it’s not like we struggled to move the ball or put up points today. Watson has been great, but was anyone really counting on anything from him this season anyway? I figured with the recovery, literally anything we got from him this season is gravy anyway. Losing Wyatt sucks but where has the correlation been? We still held the Broncos under 3 YPC today. It’s not like the run defense has suffered as a result. Fact is the starting corners on this team are among the worst in football. So we either rush the passer, or we get shredded.
  23. Not that I disagree, but it’s crazy how many people think we’re absolutely toast because of Parsons. I mean if that’s the case, the guys running this organization aren’t doing a very good job at it because I assume you would have also felt we were toast on August 27th, the day before we traded for Parsons. What happened to “youngest team in the league, up and coming, etc etc”? I get that Parsons hasn’t been the only guy lost obviously but everyone was still high on our chances up until the moment he went down.
  24. I sure hope he does a more inspiring job this time than overpaying Aaron Banks and Nate Hobbs.
  25. Correct. I couldn’t care less about the firsts we gave up. Are we really in a worse position without Matthew Golden, Jordan Morgan, and Lukas Van Ness on this roster?
