    What a fun weekend. Can anyone explain why it’s ruled a single when a runner is struck by a ground ball on the infield and thus ruled out? I learned something new today. What a way that would be for someone to lose a no-hitter.

    True enough. Mitchell getting optioned or benched for a bit wouldn’t be the worst thing. However, the current OF depth chart is Blake Perkins, so we don’t really have anything to work with.

    The bottom of this roster really needs a bit of a makeover, at least for awhile. Too many guys who have had too many opportunities and just still aren’t cutting it and too many guys in AAA who have at least earned a shot for awhile.

    Rengifo looks jacked and if you took a look at him you’d expect him to be cranking homeruns and then when you watch his actual ABs you wonder why he’s even on the roster.

    Henderson is really getting tagged. Going to be a short outing.

    Righties do not seem to be picking up Rodon’s slider very well today.

    I was saying this during the IGT. We can say it’s bush league, we can complain about it all we want, but it was the correct call and within the rules. I am never going to fault anyone finding small advantages within the rules and the league will adapt and close loopholes from there. In the meantime, the onus is on our coaching staff to be scouting up the other team and preparing our players for things like that.

    I think they may be deciding whether Perkins or Black is the odd man out when Yelich returns. Black can force their hand if he hits well enough, but he needs to be impressive since he doesn’t offer much else. Just alright won’t keep him up. Not that Blake has really done anything to earn a spot but unfortunately for Black, he can’t afford many days like yesterday.

    It’s obviously not the end of the world and I’d rather them eat the 1M too, it just seems a bit financially irresponsible to me if they weren’t really committed to McManus in the first place.

    Havrisik? Matsuzawa? Surely the organization has contingency plans in place to pivot to if Trey Smack gets sniped from them and doesn’t need a 1 million dollar insurance policy on a 6th round rookie kicker.

    On paper, Lara is going to be a better version of Perkins at just about everything. He’s a gold glove caliber CFer in his own right. He hits for more power. He can run. He’s a switch hitter like Perkins, so R/L isn’t the issue either. Is he not up because the Brewers don’t believe he can offer what Blake Perkins is doing for them right now, or is he not up because the Brewers think he’s an important piece of their future and don’t want to stunt his development by having him come up to mostly sit?
