  1. It screams extension to me. He’s obviously healthy and if it were bereavement or family related he likely wouldn’t be with the team. Sweet is also not going to tell us that we will know soon enough if it’s a trade, that could always fall through and they are not going to speculate on that before it happens. Hope I’m not just setting myself up to be let down but a lot of signs point to extension for me.
  2. The other thing is — Jett just really hasn’t done enough to force their hand. He started slow, picked it up for a bit and now has been cooling off a bit again. He's a nice, versatile prospect but a .700 OPS in AAA as a super sub doesn’t really scream as someone who is going to come up and be better than the status quo. Pratt is a little closer and the contract and the fact that he’s already on the 40 work in his favor. But again, til they figure out what they’re going to do with Ortiz, the difference between the two is probably marginal. Lara is the only one where you can look at his stats and wonder what else he could possibly do, and I think that’s a fair question. So it’s much more related to his own long-term development; I don’t think many people would argue that he couldn’t show up today and be more valuable than Perkins.
  3. I’ve been as big of an advocate for Lara as anybody, but I never would have dreamed as a Brewer fan in the early 2000s watching to see if Ronnie Belliard and John Vander Wal could get us to 65 wins, that we’d ever have a perennial playoff team on pace for 103 wins in June whose biggest problem is we can’t find enough playing time to justify bringing up our hotshot 21 year old outfield prospect raking with a .947 OPS in AAA. What an awfully good problem to have.
  4. Last year I had no expectations for the NLCS. Won a playoff series finally, beat the Cubs, felt really good. Really feel like it’s okay to start moving forward with the mindset that we should start competing for a World Series. It doesn’t mean that the entire season is a failure if it doesn’t happen but we have been around the block enough times where it should be the big goal.
  5. He does however have a couple big rips finally today. He’s that co-worker that is appreciated for his brawn because the brains are not much.
  6. Really could have been 6.1 and 0 ER. I think Chourio would tell you he should hit that throw.
  7. Red Sox fans are going to explode if Drohan develops into a solid starting pitcher for us.
  8. Not positive but I think that is the first hit for Perkins against RHP this season.
  9. Vaughn. What a freaking revelation for this team this last year.
  10. Sanchez coming up seeing one more challenge on our ticker.
  11. I know we’ve been calling for some changes on the left side of the infield but the unfortunate truth is that Jett simply hasn’t done well enough to force the Brewers’ hand this year over the status quo, especially not being on the 40. Pratt is closer. Lara is the only one that you can look at and say there’s really nothing more he can be doing to get called up.
  12. 3 runs allowed all courtesy of poor defensive plays, none being errors.
  13. Gotta do a better job than this against Freeland.
  14. That was one of the better Perkins ABs of the year and the result was still familiar.
  15. An official scorer should be able to rule “team error” on a play like that. Some use of common sense should be allowed. A pop up on the infield should never be a “single”.
  16. Tough luck for Drohan, chalk up both of those runs to piss poor defense.
  17. You could tell about 3 seconds before that ball hit the ground that Turang had no clue where it was.
  18. Talk about doing Freeland a favor. That was Ball 4 not close. Need a better pitch if you’re going to hack 3-1.
  19. It would be really nice if we could get an update on Lara. It’s not normal for one of your top prospects to just suddenly be out a week with no explanation. Probably the most frustrating thing about following the farm system is the ever constant air of mystery when it comes to personnel moves.
