  1. I watch little college football, but I scheduled my day around this game. Enjoyable on two levels: Indiana winning big, and 'Bama losing big.
  2. Can't remember the last time I watched a televised game and see the defensive starters introduced at 7:06 of the 2nd quarter.
  3. Last night, I heard Mariah Carey twice in fifteen minutes. I'm good for 2025.
  4. OFF: P Nick Mears, traded OF Isaac Collins, traded ON: P Angel Zerpa, acquired The 40-man roster is at 39.
  5. So, the tables turn and Wisconsin surprises Texas, on their court. I believe this will end up on the All-Time Top Ten Wins list. With Nebraska out (even bigger shocker), this could be anyone's tournament to win.
  6. ON: OF Akii Baddoo, signed The 40-man roster is full.
  7. When I was just about getting ready to get a gray jersey, they are now obsolete. That didn't last very long. Robin egg-blue tops with gray pants? A bad look. I've always liked the navy, but the current version doesn't do it for me.
  8. People are seeing something I didn't see. I thought his toe was in the line, then stepped back in, making him ineligible.
  9. I will provide the most irrelevant post of the thread: I thought Wicks was going to be a shoo-in for a turkey leg, standing front-and-center. Maybe MVP and an EA interview. Instead, he's barely on the edge of the screen. Beat Detroit at its own game. Nixon's illegal contact on 3rd-and-15. With the pass rush working, need better situational awareness than that (unless burned on a double-move).
  10. ON: P Brandon Woodruff, signed The 40-man roster is at 39.
  11. Only one brief mention here on Drew Brees replacing the canned Mark Sanchez.
  12. ON: OF Garrett Mitchell, activated P Logan Henderson, activated The 40-man roster is at 38.
  13. Women's team played well enough for 38 minutes to take down Marquette on their court, but just couldn't seal it. It would have been a nice win for them, they need something positive. Forbes rises to the occasion for Marquette. Kennedi Perkins left with looked like a nasty concussion, hope she is OK.
  14. OFF: P Brandon Woodruff, contract expired P Jose Quintana, contract expired C Danny Jansen, contract expired 1B Rhys Hoskins, contract expired ON: P Sammy Peralta, claimed P Coleman Crow, selected The 40-man roster is at 36.
  15. And now for something completely different: no sign of Marlins Man in Toronto. Passport issues?
  16. Red Sox, 1986
  17. Darn.
  18. People are calling this one of the greatest WS games ever. I'm curious to the viewership numbers after the 12th inning, if it would rival an NHL game or even an indoor soccer playoff game. If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around, does it make a sound?
  19. Also, do not overlook that his lack of running a tight ship may have led indirectly to a suicide of one of his athletes.
  20. One thing not discussed here yet is the expose' the Wisconsin State Journal did last month on the athletic department. Now it's facing a big lawsuit from former athletes. This could be the thing that does Mac in.
  21. As said above, a gut-punch to be a Mariners fan. Three innings away from a WS and a win prob up to 82%. I've been to both cities and love them both. Was pulling for Seattle to get their first WS. I wanted to sit down and watch this game, and caught innings two and three. Looks like I missed a good one. But only so many hours in a day. Retirement can't get here soon enough.
  22. I would give it Bauers (+0.07 WPA), but yeah, Durbin was #2 at +0.00 WPA. :( P.S. Yelich was #3 at -0.13 WPA.
  23. Yelich was the team's LVP that series. Yeah, had the home run, then followed up with a GIDP to kill a rally.
  24. I didn't tune in until just after Ohtani's second homer, and didn't know he was starting. So this "greatest single playoff game performance" didn't have the full affect on me. Interestingly, I go fangraphs and his WPA for the game is just +.35, while Yamamoto's Game 2 was +.37. So it wasn't even the best single performance this *series*. I've been OK with Brian Anderson and the number of games he worked this season, but watching the games and Brian getting excited about the opposition was hard to swallow. Yes, I'm aware he is paid to do it and he would do it for whomever would have won. Maybe time for him to move on and fully commit to bigger things, like Gary Bender, Merle Harmon or Matt V.? I know some people chuckled when he first signed on, but he made people forget about Darren Sutton real quick. I was at the UW-UCLA volleyball match, which afterwards I made small talk with the father of a UCLA player who was wearing a Dodgers cap, going "at least you'll have one win tonight". He was very complimentary towards the Brewers and said they have nothing to be ashamed of, they had the best record. I can envision next season when the Dodgers visit Milwaukee for the crowd to erupt in "Lock Them Out!!" chants, if only to troll the Dodgers, but also to send a message to MLB and the country. Maybe other cities can join in. For me, this season was the most fun watching since 2018 and am sad the fun is over.
  25. Being a numbers guy, something I've done after every series since 2011 is to analyse the WPA for the series. 2025 NLDS vs Cubs: 1. Patrick (+.38) 2. Vaughn (+.33) 3. Misiorowski (+.28) 4. Chourio (+.23) 5. Contreras (+.22) 6. Uribe (+.16) As we know by now, the series was won by the bullpen and three bats, and the numbers show it.
