  2. I almost want to get swept by the Phillies. It might make them too overconfident when we face them in the playoffs. Just like the Ruskies did against the young American squad they had just demolished back in '80.
  3. http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/6039/chrischelios.jpg In before it changes again. Chelios hoisting The Cup for a winning team.
  4. Watching him in person. He either has further to move the glove to make the tag, or he gives away the throw by moving back to the base. Runners can take an extra step with a righty on the mound. I'm not ragging on the decision to have him do that. It makes him field better, which is greater than the little extra stolen base percentage it gives up. I'm just adding it to not using SB% against Lucroy.

  7. This is random MiLB news, but I thought I would share it here. The Brewer's minor league is getting into the defensive wizardry schtick.
  8. You can say the same thing for this season as well. Do they still show many Classics in the offseason? Unfortunately, I have Dish and for some reason they give me the Minnesota version of FSN even though I am on the east side of the state. That's because FSN North is out of MN. FSN Wisconsin is an offshoot of FSN North. That is why you can have 2 different guys in the studio that aren't together. One is in the MN studio and one is in the MKE studio. I don't know why they don't show the classics during rain delays. I'm getting kind of sick of the 40th video.

After the K-Rod HR (around 6) I decided I better get going. I turned off the TV, put a CD in the car, and drove to my Mom's. I got there around 7. She asked me how I liked the game. She was shocked by my answer. I didn't believe her when she said we had won. This has been a special year for the Brewers.
  11. Rickie Weeks just goes about his business. The Brewers always play an offense montage in the middle of the first. They make one at the beginning of the year and update it sometime during the year. This homestand featured the updated version. It includes highlights of new plays and players (Morgan, K-Rod, Marcum, etc). It still has old clips (there is a catch by Hart that is from 06 in the defense montage). The clips are always high action shots and have players jumping around, wide smiles, fist pumps, etc. Not Weeks. Every shot of him has a stone faced determinated look about him while great things are happening. He is just a competitor. I can't wait for him to get back.
  12. I met JaDerHeyski through this now sketchy and now defunct site called MySpace (some of you older people may remember it http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif). We AIM'd for about a month at the end of the 07 season before meeting in real life.
  13. Steve Phillips might be available. Get it done, Ricketts.
  14. No order: 1. Robin Yount 2. Deion Sanders 3. Brendan Shanahan 4. Steve Yzerman 5. Hank Aaron
  15. I guarantee a loss. Nobody should bother following this game.
  16. Casey was trying to draw the throw. He slowed down while he was coming to 2nd watching Kemp. He turned to see what Prince was doing, looked back at Kemp, and then sped back up to go to 3rd. Counsell should never be allowed to steal again. He got one of the best jumps I've seen. He had his normal lead (the same one that he was almost picked off from). Then he was able to get two crow hops in before the pitcher even started his move to home. I thought for sure he was going to be picked off by 2-3 steps, but the pitcher hadn't noticed. The pitch was in the dirt. The catcher did a good job with it, but it was a high throw. And the 2B was still able to get the glove down in time to make it a clear out. The Gwynn HR landed two rows behind and three seats over from me. I checked the scoreboard afterwards to see who was pitch hitting. I never thought I'd see a ball hit by Gwynn get over my head. I remember arguing with my softball buddies about him. There were the rumors that we had acquired Dunn (07? 08? 09?). They thought it would be horrible, since he couldn't hit (ie had a low batting average). I argued that I would love to have Dunn. They said they didn't understand why we didn't bring Gwynn up and give him a ML job. I argued that we should trade Gwynn to the Padres for whatever they were stupid enough to give up. We spent more time arguing about those two players than worrying about the game we were playing.
  17. Tuesdays are always tough on businesses. That is why there are always good deals on those days. Cinemas, pizza delivery, etc.
  18. Lyle Overbay was picked up by his original team, the Diamondbacks. He then single handedly beat Doc Halladay and the Phillies. Good for him, I always liked him.
  19. I've talked to the Brewers about this. Our state legislature struck down the scalping law because it was too hard for actual fans to unload their tickets. The only rule is that they can't try to physically stop you from getting to the window and they can't sell for above face value. They make money by getting the tickets under face value. Most of them are "season ticket holders" and get the tickets cheap. But the tickets have the regular price printed on them, so they can make a profit. I needed to offload the tickets to the last Cubs day game. They offered to buy them for $10 for 2. Face value is $30 each, so they had plenty of room to still make a nice profit.
  20. I'm not concerned. It means that the offense will start to click again just when the pitching/defense starts to falter. So instead of winning a bunch of low scoring games we'll be winning a bunch of high scoring games. Why waste scoring 10 runs today when only 2 are needed http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  21. I seem to remember regular people sitting in 104 for the playoff games. We expected media (because that was what had happened for the ASE), but were shocked to see the bleachers still there being used by fans. There would be rioting if they tried to push STH up to the Terrace.
  22. Aren't our defensive numbers also helped out with the shifts we do? That might be why the Brewers decided to go with bad defense. They figured the efficiency of their shifts would outweigh the deficiencies of the players' talent.
  23. I expect this thread to get so long Google decides to only search this thread when looking for pictures.
  24. Let's here it for Section 104! But I am not pleased to be in section 204 for the playoffs. I had an interesting thought a couple of weeks ago. If the Brewers take each series to the max, I may not have enough money after paying for those playoff games to renew my tickets. If we lose in 7 games and I can't renew, will I still be happy? I think so. I hope they win in 6 (so we celebrate at home), then I'd be ecstatic whether I scrape up the money or not. IIRC, the Brewers do not get to set the price of WS tickets. That is something controlled by MLB so the WS tickets cost the same no matter where it's played. That was how they explained the vast difference in price between NLCS and WS tickets.
  25. Along the same lines, I find it hard to believe that WTMJ decided to broadcast a Packers pre-season game ahead of a Brewers game in August yesterday. We are a first-place team playing a division rival during the regular season and they choose to broadcast an exhibition game? Yeah, not sure how long you have been a Brewer fan, but get used to it. This has always bugged me regardless of what place the Brewers are in. An exhibition game should NEVER supersede a regular season game. Over the years, I have learned to live with this the best I can, but it still steams me. The media is reason number one why the Packers franchise bugs me.
